5.3. Test Procedures
The following procedures were followed for testing:
- The EUT was placed on a rotatable table top 0.8 meter above ground.
- The EUT was set 3 meters from the interference receiving antenna, which was mounted on top of a variable height antenna tower.
- The table was rotated 360 degrees to determine the position of the highest radiation.
- The antenna, a half-wave dipole, had its height varied between one meter and four meters above ground to find the maximum field strength. Measurements were taken for both horizontal and vertical polarization of the antenna.
- For each suspected emission, the EUT was arranged in its worst-case configuration. The antenna tower height (1 m to 4 m) and turntable (0 to 360 degrees) were adjusted to find the maximum reading.
- The test-receiver system was set to Peak Detect Function with specified bandwidth and Maximum Hold Mode.
- If the emission level in peak mode was 3 dB lower than the specified limit, testing was stopped, and peak values were reported. Otherwise, emissions not meeting the 3 dB margin were re-tested using the quasi-peak method and reported.
- For testing above 1GHz, if the emission level in peak mode was 20 dB lower than the average limit (meaning peak mode complied with the average limit), testing was stopped and peak values were reported. Otherwise, emissions were measured in average mode and reported.
5.4. Typical Test Setup Layout of Radiated Emission
<Below 1 GHz>:
Diagram Description: The setup for radiated emissions below 1 GHz shows the EUT placed on a table 80 cm high. A Notebook (NB) is connected to the EUT. A receiving antenna (Rx Ant) is positioned 3 meters away, with its height adjustable from 1 to 4 meters. A metal full soldered ground plan is beneath the EUT. A Spectrum Analyzer/Receiver is used for measurement.
<Above 1 GHz>:
Diagram Description: The setup for radiated emissions between 1,000 MHz and 18,000 MHz is similar, with the EUT on a table 80 cm high. The receiving antenna is 3 meters away and adjustable from 1 to 4 meters. The diagram implies testing within a shielded environment, with the antenna possibly a biconical or log-periodic type.
