Gas Connection
General Information
The barbecue can be operated with gas cylinders weighing between 5 kg and 11 kg. Low pressure butane, propane, and LPG gas mixtures are approved. Your grill works best with propane or LPG mixtures. Butane can be used, but the gas cylinder may freeze due to the appliance's power rating, causing gas pressure to drop and reducing performance. Use a regulator certified according to DIN EN 16129.
NOTE: Consult your LPG dealer for information on the correct regulator for gas cylinders.
Regulator and Hose
These parts are supplied with the grill. Obtain spare parts from your dealer or an approved LPG supplier. Only use hoses and regulators approved for LPG with the specified pressure. The service life of a regulator is typically 2 years; replacement within 2 years of the production date is recommended.
WARNING:
- The hose used must comply with national regulations.
- Using unsuitable hoses or incorrect regulators is dangerous.
- Before operation, ensure you are using the correct parts.
Connecting the Gas Cylinder
A connection is established via a flexible hose and a low-pressure regulator, which should be fitted onto the gas cylinder.
- Remove the protective cap and thread protector from the gas cylinder.
- Using a suitable wrench, hand-tighten the coupling nut (attention: left thread) of the low-pressure regulator onto the gas cylinder.
- Using a suitable wrench, hand-tighten the coupling nut (attention: left thread) of the hose onto the low-pressure regulator.
Connecting the Appliance
Ensure the burner and burner ports are clean, as insects can block them. The gas connection is located on the right side of the appliance, level with the adjustment knobs.
- Using a suitable wrench, hand-tighten the coupling nut (attention: left thread) of the hose onto the barbecue.
- Ensure all hose screw connections are securely fastened to the appliance and the low-pressure regulator.
Finding Areas with a Bad Seal
CAUTION: Before use, check for leaks. Never use an open flame to check for leaks. Use leak detection spray or soapy water (approx. 50 ml soapy water to 150 ml water).
- Ensure all adjustment knobs are in the 12 o'clock (OFF) position.
- Turn on the gas.
- Apply soapy water to the hose and all connections. Bubbles indicate a leak, which must be repaired before use.
- Repeat the test after repair.
- Turn off the gas cylinder valve after testing.
If you find a leak that cannot be repaired, contact a gas technician.
Operating the Gas Barbecue
CAUTION: If the hood is closed, only barbecue at a low setting!
NOTE: For first-time use: Before preparing food, close the lid and let the gas burn at a LOW setting for 15 minutes to eliminate surface treatment odors.
Installation Site
The barbecue is for outdoor use only. Always place the barbecue and gas cylinder on an even, stable surface. CAUTION: Do not store the gas cylinder inside the barbecue during operation.
- Protect the appliance from drafts and dripping water (e.g., rain).
- Remove combustible materials within a 3-meter radius.
- Ensure at least 1 meter clearance around the rear and side walls.
- Do not place obstructions above the grill due to rising heat.
- Do not cover the barbecue in a way that obstructs ventilation.
If You Notice the Smell of Gas
- Close the gas valve on the cylinder.
- Extinguish naked flames and avoid using electrical devices nearby.
- Ventilate the area.
- Check for leaks as previously described.
- If gas odor persists, contact your dealer or a gas specialist.
Switching the Gas Barbecue On
- Open the grill hood before igniting the burner.
- Turn all control knobs clockwise to the 12 o'clock (OFF) position.
- Connect the gas hose to the gas cylinder and the barbecue.
- Turn on the gas supply at the gas cylinder.
- Check for leaks using soapy water or leak detection spray.
- CAUTION: Always start with the left adjusting knob/burner 1! Other burners ignite via the ignition channel.
- Press the left adjusting knob and turn it anticlockwise. You should hear a CLICK as burner 1 ignites.
- While turning the knob towards HI, check for flame. Repeat if necessary.
- If the burner still doesn't ignite, wait 5 minutes and repeat from step 6.
- If ignition fails electrically, contact your gas dealer for repair.
- Turn the knob to regulate heat between HI and LOW.
- Ignite remaining burners from left to right by repeating steps 6-10. The ignition channel ignites the next burner.
- To switch off, close the gas cylinder valve first.
- Then, turn the control knobs to the 12 o'clock (OFF) position.
Heat Distribution on the Barbecue Grille
The heat distribution is determined by the burner design:
- Zone 3 (Back): Barbecue cooking
- Zone 2: Cooking
- Zone 1 (Front): Keeping warm
Heating Capacity of the Burners
- Burner 1 (Left): 350°C
- Burner 2 (Left Middle): 350°C
- High-performance burner 3 (Right Middle): 450°C
- Infrared ceramic burner 4 (Right): 450°C
Temperature Development in General
Temperatures are highest directly at or above the burners and decrease upwards. The lid thermometer measures the upper cooking chamber temperature, which is lower than the actual burner surface temperature. Use it as a guide for grilling.
Tips for Barbecue Cooking
The gas grill is multifunctional. With the hood closed, it can be used like an oven for grilling, baking, and cooking meat, fish, vegetables, and fruit. Avoid excessively high temperatures with the hood closed for gentle cooking. Monitor the thermometer and adjust as needed. If smoke emerges from a closed hood, the temperature is too high.
Changing the Battery
- Pull off the right adjusting knob of the infrared ceramic burner.
- Turn the knob over.
- Loosen the screw in the connecting link with a Phillips screwdriver until it is movable.
- Slide the connecting link aside and remove the battery.
- Insert a new 6.0V battery (type A11/E11A) with the negative pole down.
- Press the battery down slightly and reattach the contact tab, tightening the screw.
- Reattach the adjusting knob.
