Perpetual Calendar

The SEIKO Cal. 6A32 features a Perpetual Calendar. Once set, the calendar automatically adjusts for odd and even months, including February of leap years, up to February 28, 2100.

Note: After the year 2032, refer to the YEAR TABLE to confirm the actual year corresponding to the displayed number.

The calendar indicates the year, month, and date.

Before Using the Watch

Because the calendar is pre-adjusted at the factory, you only need to set the time and date. The calendar will automatically update itself.

Before using the watch, set the time and date correctly by following the procedures in the "TIME/DATE SETTING" section.

Watch Components

The watch features an hour hand, a minute hand, and a second hand. It also includes a date display window and a crown. The crown has three positions: a: Normal position, b: First click, c: Second click.

Time/Date Setting

To set the time and date:

  1. Pull out the crown to the second click when the second hand is at the 12 o'clock position.
  2. Turn the crown in either direction to set the time and date.
  3. Push the crown back completely in accordance with a time signal.

Important Notes on Setting:

  • The date changes automatically between 11:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. when advancing the hands clockwise, and between 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. when moving the hands counterclockwise.
  • AM/PM Checking: When setting the hour hand, ensure the AM/PM is correct. To check: advance the hour hand past the 1 o'clock marker. If the date advances, it's AM. If it doesn't change, it's PM. When setting backward, advance the hour hand past the 9 o'clock marker. If the date moves back, it's PM. If it doesn't change, it's AM.
  • When setting the minute hand, advance it 4 to 5 minutes ahead of the desired time, then turn it back to the exact time.
  • If the calendar indication is incorrect after setting the time and date, re-check the AM/PM setting. If it's still incorrect, the initial calendar position may need adjustment following the procedures in "HOW TO CHECK AND ADJUST THE CALENDAR."

How to Check and Adjust the Calendar

Follow these procedures to check and adjust the calendar if necessary.

Precautions:

  • Do not check or adjust the calendar between 11:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. If adjustments are made during this period, the date may not change properly. If this occurs, set the time to a period outside these hours, set the date, and then move the hands back to the correct time.
  • Pulling the crown out to the second click while the calendar numeral is advancing or moving back may misalign the second hand from the 12 o'clock position.
  • Button and crown operations are not possible while the calendar numeral is advancing or moving back. Wait until the numeral stops before operating.
  • If the watch is left untouched for 2-3 minutes during adjustment, it will resume normal movement. Restart the procedure from the beginning if this happens.
  • Do not leave the crown at the first or second click when using the watch, as this will shorten battery life.

Adjustment Steps:

  1. Starting the check and adjustment of the calendar: [Crown: Pull out to first click]

  2. The initial position of the second hand: [Button: Press for 2 seconds]. The second hand will move and stop at the 12 o'clock position (initial position). The calendar numeral will automatically move and stop to show "1."

Note: If the second hand is not at the 12 o'clock position, turn the crown clockwise or counterclockwise to set it. The second hand advances or moves back in 1-second increments when the crown is turned until it clicks.

  3. The initial setting of the calendar: [Button: Press once]. The calendar numeral will swing and stop (it remains as "1").

Note: If the numeral is not "1", turn the crown clockwise or counterclockwise until "1" appears in the calendar frame. Center "1" by turning the crown slowly.

  4. Current date: [Button: Press once]. The second hand will move back and stop at the 9 o'clock position. The calendar numeral will return to the current date.

Note: If the numeral does not show the current date, turn the crown clockwise or counterclockwise to set the correct date. Continuous crown turning moves the numeral quickly; turn the crown in the reverse direction until it clicks once to stop it.

  5. Current month: [Button: Press once]. The second hand will advance and stop at the 10 o'clock position. The current month will be shown in the calendar frame.

Note: If the current month is not shown, turn the crown clockwise or counterclockwise to set the correct month (1-12).

  6. Current year: [Button: Press once]. The second hand will advance and stop at the 11 o'clock position. The last 1 or 2 digits of the current year will be shown in the calendar frame.

Note: If the current year is not shown, turn the crown clockwise or counterclockwise until the correct digits appear. After 2032, use the YEAR TABLE to confirm the actual year.

  7. Completing the check and adjustment of the calendar: [Crown: Push back in to the normal position]. The watch will resume normal movement, showing the current time. The calendar numeral will return to the current date.

How to Operate the Screw Lock Type Crown

(For models with screw lock type crown)

  • To unscrew the crown: Turn the crown counterclockwise. Then, pull it out for setting the time or checking the calendar.
  • To screw in the crown: With the crown at the normal position, turn it clockwise while pressing it.

Battery Change

The miniature battery powering your watch is designed to last approximately 4 years. However, the battery inserted at the factory for testing purposes may have a shorter actual life once in your possession.

When the battery expires, replace it promptly to prevent malfunctions. For battery replacement, it is recommended to contact an AUTHORIZED SEIKO DEALER and request a SEIKO SR927SW(SB-AP) battery.

Note: Frequent use of the calendar checking function may reduce battery life.

Battery Life Indicator

When the second hand starts moving at two-second intervals instead of the normal one-second interval, the battery needs replacement. If not replaced soon, the watch may stop operating within a couple of days.

Note: The time accuracy is not affected by the two-second interval movement. The date will also not change during this period; this is not a malfunction.

Checking and Adjustment After Battery Change

After replacing the battery, ensure the calendar is correct. If the year, month, and date are not displayed accurately, adjust the calendar by following the procedures in "HOW TO CHECK AND ADJUST THE CALENDAR."

Warnings and Cautions

WARNING

Do not remove the battery from the watch. If it is necessary to take out the battery, keep it out of the reach of children. If a child swallows it, consult a doctor immediately.

CAUTION

  • Never short-circuit, heat, or tamper with the battery, and never expose it to fire. The battery may burst, become very hot, or catch fire.
  • The battery is not rechargeable. Never attempt to recharge it, as this may cause battery leakage or damage.
