2. Installation
Installation Environment
For optimal performance, the device should be installed in an indoor, windless environment. Key environmental considerations include:
- Illumination: Ensure the environment illumination is more than 100 Lux.
- Placement: Position the device at least 2 meters away from direct light sources and at least 3 meters away from windows. Avoid direct sunlight, strong backlighting, or being too close to light sources, as these can affect facial recognition accuracy.
Installation Steps
Follow these steps for mounting the device:
- Drill holes on the wall or surface and install a gang box if required.
- Secure the mounting plate to the gang box or wall using the supplied screws (e.g., 4x KA4×22-SUS).
- Route the cables through the cable hole of the mounting plate and connect them to the corresponding external devices.
- Align the device with the mounting plate and hang the terminal. Ensure the mounting sheets on the sides of the plate fit into the device's back holes.
- Secure the device to the mounting plate using the supplied M4 screws. The device is secured when the screw heads are beneath the device surface.
The installation height is recommended but can be adjusted based on specific needs. The device can also be mounted directly on a wall or other surfaces without a gang box; refer to the user manual for details. A mounting template is provided for accurate hole drilling.
3.1 Device Wiring (Normal)
This section details the standard wiring connections for the terminal.
- Network Interface: Connect to the network for communication.
- Door Contact: Connect to a door magnetic sensor.
- BTN (Exit Button): Connect to an exit button.
- Wiring Terminal: Provides connections for door lock control (NC, COM, NO terminals) and other peripherals.
Important Wiring Notes:
- Ensure a common ground connection between the device, RS-485 card reader, door magnetic sensor, and exit button when used together.
- The Wiegand terminal is typically configured as input. For connection to an access controller, the Wiegand direction may need to be set to "Output" as per the user manual.
- Suggested external power supply for door locks: 12 V, 1A.
- Suggested external power supply for Wiegand card readers: 12 V, 1A.
- Never wire the device directly to the electric supply.

3.2 Device Wiring (With Secure Door Control Unit)
This section outlines the wiring for integrating the Face Recognition Terminal with a Secure Door Control Unit for enhanced security.
Connections:
- Face Recognition Terminal connects to the Secure Door Control Unit.
- The Secure Door Control Unit has terminals for:
- Power Input
- Sensor Input (connects to Door Contact)
- Exit Button Input (connects to Exit Button)
- Lock Output (NC, COM, NO terminals, connects to Electric Dropbolt or Electric Strike)
Specific wire colors (Red, Black, Green/Brown, etc.) are shown connecting these units. The Secure Door Control Unit requires a separate external power supply, with 12 V, 0.5 A suggested.
4. Activation
After installation and connecting the network cable, the device must be activated before first use. Upon powering on, if the device is not activated, it will automatically enter the Activate Device page.
Activation Steps:
- Create a strong password and confirm it.
- Tap "Activate" to complete the process.
Password Recommendation:
Hikvision strongly recommends creating a strong password (minimum 8 characters, including uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters) to enhance product security. Regular password resets, especially in high-security systems (monthly or weekly), are advised.
5. Temperature Measurement Settings
Access the "Temperature" option from the main page to configure temperature measurement parameters:
- Enable Temperature Detection: Toggle to enable or disable temperature measurement alongside user authentication. When disabled, only authentication occurs.
- Over-Temperature Alarm Threshold: Set a threshold (default 37.3°C). An alarm is triggered if the detected temperature exceeds this value.
- Door Not Open When Detecting Abnormal Temperature: When enabled, the door will remain locked if the detected temperature is higher than the configured threshold.
- Temperature Measurement Only: Toggle to enable temperature measurement without user authentication. When disabled, both authentication and temperature measurement occur.
- Measurement Area Calibration/Settings: Configure the specific area for temperature measurement and adjust correction parameters.
- Black Body Settings: If using a black body for calibration, configure its parameters such as distance, temperature, and emissivity.
6. Adding Face Information
To add user face information:
- Verify your identity on the screen to access the main page.
- Navigate to the User Management page, tap the '+' icon, and select 'Face' to enter the Add User page.
- Set user parameters as needed.
- Tap 'Face' and follow the on-screen instructions to capture the face information. The captured picture can be viewed in the upper right corner of the page. Ensure the face picture is of good quality and appropriate size.
- Tap to save the settings.
After saving, return to the initial page to start authentication. For other authentication methods, consult the device user manual. If the device is affected by light or other factors, consider using alternative authentication methods.
Tips When Collecting/Comparing Face Picture
Expression
Maintain a natural expression, similar to the example image. Avoid wearing hats, sunglasses, or accessories that may interfere with facial recognition. Ensure hair does not cover the eyes or ears, and avoid heavy makeup.
Posture
For accurate face capture, position your face looking directly at the camera. Avoid tilting, turning sideways, raising, or bowing your head.
Size
Ensure your face is centered within the collecting window. Avoid being too close or too far from the device.
Positions When Collecting/Comparing Face Picture
Recommended Distance: 0.5 meters.
Recommended Height: 1.43 meters to 1.90 meters.
Visual guides illustrate correct and incorrect positioning, including height (Too High, Too Low) and distance (Too Close, Too Far).
Note: Biometric recognition products are not 100% effective against spoofing. For higher security, use multiple authentication modes.
