R/C helicopters, including The M2 EVO, are not toys. R/C helicopters utilize various high-tech products and technologies to provide superior performance. Improper use of this product can result in serious injury or even death. Please read this manual carefully before using and make sure to be conscious of your own personal safety and the safety of others and your environment when operating all OMPHOBBY products.

Manufacturer and seller assume no liability for the operation or the use of this product. Intended for use only by adults with experience flying remote control helicopters at a legal flying field. After the sale of this product, we cannot maintain any control over its operation or usage.

RC Helicopters require skill to operate. We recommend that you obtain the assistance of an experienced pilot before attempting to fly our products for the first time. Local expert assistance is the best way to assure proper assembly, setup, and safe flight of your model for the first time. Any damage or dissatisfaction as a result of crashes, incorrect setup, modifications, or lack of necessary user skill are not covered by any warranty and cannot be returned for repair or replacement. Please contact our distributors for technical support and parts supply if you experience problems.

Safety Notes

CAUTION: Fly only in safe areas, away from other people. Do not operate R/C aircraft within the vicinity of homes or crowds of people. R/C aircraft may suffer accidents, failures, and crashes due to a variety of reasons including, lack of maintenance, pilot error, or radio interference. Pilots are responsible for their actions and damage or injury occurring during the operation or as a result of R/C aircraft models.

Precautions Before Use

FORBIDDEN: Locate an Appropriate Location

To ensure the safety of yourself, others, and your model, do not fly near airports, buildings, roads, crowded areas, or high voltage cables. R/C helicopters can fly at high speed and have high RPM rotor blades, thus they pose a certain degree of potential danger. Choose a legal and safe flying field consisting of flat, smooth ground without obstacles, other people, animals, etc. For the first practice, please choose a legal flying field with ample clear space. Flying over long grass reduces damage in the event of a crash. Consider the use of training landing gear. Do not fly your model in inclement weather, such as rain, wind, snow, or darkness.

FORBIDDEN: Prevent Moisture

R/C models are composed of many precision electrical components. It is critical to keep the model and associated equipment away from moisture and other contaminants. The introduction or exposure to water or moisture in any form can cause the model to malfunction, resulting in loss of use or a crash. Do not operate or expose to rain or moisture.

FORBIDDEN: Prevent Improper Operation

Please use only genuine replacement parts as listed in the manual to ensure correct operation. Use of non-standard or damaged parts voids the warranty and may cause danger. This product is for R/C models; do not use it for other purposes.

WARNING: Obtain the Assistance of an Experienced Pilot

Before turning on your model and transmitter, check with other RC model users in the area to ensure you are safe to fly. The guidance provided by an experienced pilot will be invaluable for the assembly, tuning, trimming, and actual first flight. (It is recommended you practice with a computer-based flight simulator.)

WARNING: Safe Operation

Operate this unit within your ability. Do not fly when tired, as improper operation may cause danger.

CAUTION: Always Be Aware of the Rotating Blades

During the operation of the helicopter, the main rotor and tail rotor will be spinning at a high rate of speed. The blades are capable of inflicting serious bodily injury and damage to the environment. Be conscious of the hazard from the rotor blades and maintain a safe distance at all times. Always fly the model at a safe distance from yourself and others, as well as surrounding objects. Never take your eyes off the model or leave it unattended while it is turned on. Immediately turn off the model and transmitter and remove the battery when you have landed the model.

CAUTION: Keep Away from Heat

R/C models are made of various forms of plastic. Plastic is very susceptible to damage or deformation due to extreme heat and cold climates. Make sure not to store the model near any source of heat such as direct strong sunlight or a heater. It is best to store the model indoors, in a climate-controlled, room-temperature environment.

Assembly Steps

Step 1: Main Rotor Holder Assembly

This step details the assembly of the main rotor holder. It involves inserting bearings (MR63ZZ) with the concave side facing inwards, using washers, spindle bearing spacers, and thrust bearings. Grease is to be applied. Warnings are provided regarding thrust and radial bearings being wear items that require regular inspection and replacement, especially for high-speed 3D flights.

Key components mentioned:

Caution: After the feathering shaft screw is locked, ensure the rotor holder can rotate smoothly. Pay attention to the direction of the copper washer.

Step 2: Motor Mount and Main Shaft Assembly

This step covers the installation of the motor mount, main motor, and related components, including the main shaft and swashplate phase plastic panel. It involves securing the motor mount with screws and installing the main shaft with its retaining rings and bearings.

Key components mentioned:

Caution: Note the orientation of the spindle retaining rings (plane and inclined plane).

Step 3: Frame Assembly

This step involves assembling the main frame structure, including the carbon fiber side panels, rear reinforcement plate, flight control mounting panel, and battery components. Various screws and screw sleeves are used to connect these parts.

Key components mentioned:

Step 4: Swashplate and Linkage Assembly

This step focuses on assembling the swashplate mechanism, including the tilt tray bracket, ball screws, linkage rods, and the swashplate itself. It involves connecting various parts with screws, nuts, washers, and pin shafts.

Key components mentioned:

Step 5: Landing Skid Assembly

This step details the installation of the landing skids and their mounting components. It involves attaching the landing skid mounts to the frame using screws and washers, and then attaching the landing skids themselves.

Key components mentioned:

Step 6: Tail Boom and Tail Motor Assembly

This step covers the installation of the tail boom, tail motor, and vertical stabilizer. It involves securing the tail boom with an inner mount block and screws, and attaching the tail motor and reinforcement plate.

Key components mentioned:

Step 7: Servo Installation

This step details the installation of the servos and their connection linkages. It involves mounting the servos to the frame and connecting them to the swashplate and other control surfaces using linkage balls and screws.

Key components mentioned:

Step 8: Flight Control Installation

This step describes the installation of the flight control unit (FC). It involves attaching the FC to the frame using double-sided damping tape and ensuring it is parallel to the fuselage for optimal performance. Linkage rods for pitch and roll control are also connected.

Key components mentioned:

Caution: Ensure the double-sided damping rubber is fully fitted before installing the flight control. The flight control must be completely parallel to the fuselage for best flight performance.

Step 9: Main and Tail Blade Installation

This step covers the installation of the main rotor blades and tail rotor blades. It involves securing them to the rotor hubs using screws, nuts, washers, and screw sleeves.

Key components mentioned:

Step 10: Battery Installation

This step shows the installation of the battery. The diagram indicates a 11.1V 750mAh battery.

Key components mentioned:

Step 11: Canopy Installation

This step illustrates the attachment of the helicopter canopy.

Key components mentioned:

Step 12: Flight Parameter Setting

This section provides an introduction to flight parameter settings, referencing parameters for the Futaba 14SG remote controller. It explains that throttle parameters may differ across remote controllers and that users can adjust throttle and pitch curves.
