PowerPac 4-Way Extension Socket PP8554N
Model: PP8554N
Introduction
This document provides essential information for the safe installation, use, and maintenance of the PowerPac 4-Way Extension Socket (Model PP8554N). An extension cable is intended as a temporary solution and should not be used as a permanent extension to your household's electrical system. For long-term needs, consider installing additional outlets. Proper usage of extension cables is crucial for safety, as deterioration over time can lead to electric shock or fire hazards.
Parts & Description
The PowerPac PP8554N extension socket features:
- A Powerboard
- 4 Individual Switches, each with a neon LED light
- 4 Individual Sockets
[Diagram Description: A white PowerPac powerboard is shown with four individual sockets and four individual switches. Each switch has a small neon LED light. The powerboard is connected to a 3-meter cable.]
⚠️ Warnings & Precautions
Read this booklet carefully for safe installation, use, and maintenance. Keep these instructions for future reference.
Follow these basic precautions when using electrical appliances:
- Read all instructions before using the Extension Socket.
- This Extension Socket is designed for a specific purpose. Any use not complying with the manual is considered inappropriate and dangerous. The manufacturer is not responsible for damages from inappropriate or unreasonable use.
- Installation must follow the manufacturer's indications. Incorrect procedures can cause damage to persons, animals, or objects.
- Before use, check the integrity of the powerboard, cable, and plug. ? DO NOT operate if any part is damaged. Contact a qualified person if unsure. Damaged devices must be replaced by the manufacturer, service agent, or a qualified technician to avoid shock hazards.
- Ensure the power grid's voltage and frequency match the socket's rating and that the wall socket is properly grounded. This device includes an earth wire for extra safety.
- Check the Extension Socket's wattage rating (amount of electricity it can safely transmit per second, in watts, or amps and volts). The rating must be higher than the appliance's power requirement. For multiple appliances, sum their wattages to ensure the total does not exceed the device's rating.
- Use a cable of sufficient length. ? DO NOT attempt to extend the length by connecting multiple extension sockets, as this can lead to fires, equipment failure, and electrocution. Connecting two cables reduces current capacity by half, causing voltage drop and overheating.
- The Extension Socket must NOT be switched on using external timers or other remote control appliances not specified in this manual.
- Use only original components and accessories provided by the manufacturer. Non-original parts may cause injury or damage.
- Keep packing materials (plastic bags, polystyrene) out of reach of children and disabled persons, as they can be potential sources of danger.
Location Guidelines
- This Extension Socket is NOT suitable for use or storage near heat sources (flames, ovens, heaters, stoves) or in explosive environments (presence of flammable substances like gas, vapour, mist, or dust).
- ? DO NOT place the Extension Socket on surfaces or near objects that can be damaged by heat (e.g., carpets, plastics). Avoid placing multiple extension sockets close together. Surfaces near the powerboard can become very hot during operation. Use a protective pad on wooden furniture to prevent damage.
- Avoid placing the cable on abrasive or sharp surfaces where it can be easily damaged. ? DO NOT damage the cable's insulation by pinching it in doors/windows, under heavy furniture, or letting it hang with plugs attached.
- Position the cable carefully to avoid accidents. Lay the cable along room edges, away from traffic areas and potential damage. Plug the device into outlets in the same room where work is performed. ? DO NOT run the cable through walls, ceilings, or floors. ? DO NOT place the cable under carpets or cover it with rugs, as this prevents heat escape and can cause a fire hazard.
- ? DO NOT use or store the Extension Socket outdoors. Use only indoors and protect from weathering (rain, direct sun, dust). Outdoor cables have specific insulation; using an indoor cable outdoors can create a fire hazard or electric shock.
Operation
First-Time Use:
- Uncoil the power cable.
- Ensure all individual switches on the powerboard are OFF.
- Insert the Extension Socket's plug into the wall socket.
- Lay the cable along room edges, away from traffic areas and potential damage.
- Place the powerboard on a cool, dry surface, away from heat sources and combustible materials.
- Insert appliance plugs into the powerboard. Sum wattages of multiple appliances to ensure they do not exceed the Extension Socket's rating.
- Switch the main socket switch ON.
- Switch the individual switches ON. The LED neon power lights will illuminate.
- To switch off an appliance, turn off its individual switch and detach its plug from the powerboard. Repeat for other appliances.
- When all appliance plugs are removed, switch OFF the main socket switch and remove the Extension Socket's plug from the wall socket.
General Operation & Safety:
- ? DO NOT touch the Extension Socket with wet body parts. Use an isolating element (e.g., rubber-soled shoes) between yourself and the standing surface.
- ? DO NOT soak the Extension Socket in water or other liquids, wash it under a tap, or allow liquid into the casing. In case of accidental submersion, ? DO NOT retrieve it yourself; immediately unplug the power cable from the wall socket.
- To switch off, turn individual switches to OFF, then the main socket switch OFF, and detach the plug from the wall. Detach appliance plugs before long periods of non-use, storage, or cleaning.
- Insert and detach plugs by holding them firmly with dry hands. Always detach plugs to avoid overheating. ? DO NOT pull the power cable or use it to drag the powerboard.
- In case of malfunction, switch the Extension Socket OFF immediately, turn off power, and check the cause with a qualified person if possible.
- If smoke is observed, switch the socket switch OFF immediately.
This Extension Socket is intended for household and similar applications, including:

Keep the socket and cable out of reach of children under 8 years old.
Save these instructions.
How to Clean
- Clean the Extension Socket only when its plug is removed from the wall socket.
- Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth or sponge. For stubborn spots, use a cloth moistened with mild liquid detergent. ? DO NOT use abrasive scouring pads or powders. ? DO NOT attempt to clean the interior.
