Features & Benefits
The RA14 is a 14 SEER air conditioner designed for reliable and efficient operation. Its composite base pan reduces sound and corrosion, while integrated features like screw trays and hand placement aids simplify installation and maintenance. The unit's design allows for extensive access to internal components, including the ability to remove an entire corner for greater serviceability. The louver panels are easily removable for coil cleaning, and the single-row coils facilitate thorough cleaning. The control area is spacious, accommodating electrical connections and allowing for easy access to components like contactors and capacitors. Optional accessories such as a compressor crankcase heater, compressor sound cover, compressor hard start kit, low ambient kit, and pressure controls are available to enhance performance and expand operating capabilities.
Model Number Identification
The model number provides detailed information about the unit's specifications, including brand, product category, SEER rating, capacity, major series, voltage, type, controls, metering device, orientation, and casing. Similar identification schemes are provided for Heat Pumps and Furnace Coils for reference.
General Data/Electrical Data
This section provides detailed physical and electrical data for each RA14 Series model, including dimensions, valve connections, refrigerant charge, compressor type, outdoor coil specifications, outdoor fan details, shipping and operating weights, line voltage data, compressor ratings, and condenser fan motor specifications.
Accessories
Various accessories are available for the RA14 Series, including compressor crankcase heaters, low ambient controls, compressor sound covers, compressor hard start kits, compressor time delay, low pressure controls, high pressure controls, and solenoid valves. The table provides model-specific accessory compatibility.
Weighted Sound Power Level (dBA)
Sound power levels are provided in dBA for various unit sizes and voltage configurations, along with typical octave band spectrum data. These measurements are taken in accordance with AHRI Standard 270-08.
Unit Dimensions
Detailed dimensions (height, length, width) are provided in both inches and millimeters for both operating and shipping configurations for each RA14 model. Clearance requirements for air inlet and discharge are also indicated.
Clearances
Recommended clearances are provided for unit installation, including service access and minimum clearances around the unit to ensure proper airflow and maintenance access. Specific recommendations are given for alcove, roof well, or partially enclosed areas.
Control Wiring
Wiring diagrams are provided for typical control wiring configurations for gas or oil furnaces and electric heat systems, illustrating connections to the thermostat and the condensing unit.
Application Guidelines
Guidelines for proper installation and operation are provided, including requirements for free air inlet and outlet, minimum and maximum outdoor operating temperatures, unit leveling, use of copper wire for connections, and the mandatory installation of the factory-supplied filter drier.
Refrigerant Line Size Information
Detailed tables provide guidance on selecting appropriate refrigerant line sizes (liquid and suction) based on unit size, equivalent length, and maximum vertical rise. Capacity multipliers are included to account for varying installation conditions. Notes provide important considerations for line sizing and refrigerant charge.
