Assembly Instructions
Note: Use a small amount of 'moly' lube on bolt threads. Assemble lift on level ground and adjust legs so that lift base frame is level during assembly.
Step 1: Feet and Legs [4 places]
Attach Legs (AA) and Foot Pads (BB) to the Base Crossmembers (DD) using bolts (7), washers (2), and lock nuts (1). Secure with leg P pins (11) and bolts (17). The three different holes for pin (11) allow for fine height adjustment.
Step 2: Forward Crossmember
Attach Side Rails (CC) to the forward Base Crossmember (DD) using bolts (7), washers (2), and lock nuts (1).
Step 3: Aft Crossmember
Attach Side Rails (CC) to the aft Base Crossmember (DD) using bolts (7), washers (2), and lock nuts (1).
Step 4: Stop Blocks
Attach Stop Blocks (HH, JJ) to the frame using bolts (4), washers (2), and lock nuts (1). Ensure stop blocks slope down and forward.
Step 5: H-frame Bushings [fwd & aft]
Install bushings (KK) into the H-frames (EE, FF). Ensure the curved side of the H-frames faces up. Remove any shipping ties.
Step 6: H-frame Installation
Attach the H-frames (EE, FF) to the base pivot pins (5) using bolts (9) and cotter pins (13).
Step 7: Cylinder Installation
Install the Hydraulic Cylinder (GG) with the lift in the 'down' position, using clevis pins (3) and ring type cotter pins (8).
Step 8: Bunk Rail Assembly
Attach the Bunk Rail Assemblies (LL, MM) to the H-frames. Ensure the 'long' section is at the forward end and the 'short' section is at the aft end. Secure with bunk pins (12) and cotter pins (18), and washers (19).
Step 10: Final Bunk Rail Attachment
Raise the lift slightly to install the bunk rail assemblies using 1/4 x 1.75" bolts (15) and 1/4 lock washers (16).
Connect Power Unit
The Power Unit includes the control box, pump, reservoir, and wiring. Ensure all quick coupler connections are completely seated and tight with no gap.
- DO NOT SUBMERSE the power unit. Keep it dry.
- Prevent unauthorized use and keep the box locked.
- NOTE: Remove shipping plug in reservoir and replace with breather plug before start-up.
- Connect the Negative Battery Cable (Black) and Positive Battery Cable (Red) to a Group 31 Deep Discharge AGM battery.
- Ensure battery cables are correctly connected and terminals are tight.
- Connect the solar panel cable to the solar controller.
- Hydraulic Fluid Level: Should be about one inch below the top of the reservoir with the lift in the DOWN position.
- NOTE: Always turn the unit OFF when not in use.

BATTERY SAFETY IS IMPORTANT: Follow all battery manufacturer's warnings and safety information.
First Use and Adjustments
Perform a first test on dry ground for oil leaks, remote control function, and correct operation.
IMPORTANT: After installation, the legs MUST be adjusted so the lift frame is level.
The lift must move into the Over-Center™ position when fully raised. H-frame arms should appear tilted slightly forward.
Maximum Lifting Capacity is 7,800 pounds. DO NOT OVERLOAD!
Follow these steps for the first loading of a boat:
- Place the boat or watercraft over the lift, centered between the bunks side-to-side. Move the craft forward to position its center of buoyancy near the bunks' centers. Centering Devices may be helpful.
- Raise the boat. If more than two inches of settling occurs, STOP, lower the lift, remove the boat, and re-level the lift. Repeat until the lift can be raised into the full Over-Center™ position without settling.
- Remove the boat. Verify the lift frame is level and re-level if necessary.
- Check all bolts for proper tightness, including the pinch bolts installed in Step 1.
NOTE: If you purchase a new boat, ensure its weight is within the lift's capacity. Adjustments may be needed for new boats.
Always turn power unit OFF when not in use.

Troubleshooting Problems and FAQ
Remote Control Information:
- Power-Up Delay: A ten-second delay exists. Wait for this delay to ensure proper function.
- Lift Operation: The remote is enabled by pressing the lower right button momentarily. After the initial delay, the unlock button enables operation. Lockout re-enables after 60 seconds without a button press. Lift operation is limited to 120 seconds of continuous use per button press.
- Low Battery Lockout: Protects the battery from over-discharge. If the battery voltage drops too low, fob operation is disabled. Manual switches can still operate the lift if battery power is sufficient.
- Fob Programming: A five-second window at initial power-up allows reprogramming. Up to four fobs can be enrolled.
- Lighting Circuit: Activated when the lift operates, stays on for 2 minutes. Can be manually activated for 4 minutes via the lower left button.
- Storage: Always leave the boat in the fully raised, Over-Center™ position with the power off.
Common Problems:
- Battery Will Not Hold a Charge: Verify boat weight is not exceeding capacity. Check electrolyte level (flooded cell). Ensure solar panel is properly connected and aligned. Recharge battery and test. Battery may need replacement. Consider a 110-volt maintainer/charger if used frequently.
- Remote Control Not Functioning: Check key fob battery (CR2032). Verify power unit battery is charged and connections are tight. Reprogram key fobs.
- Pump Doesn't Run: Check battery charge and connections. Clean and secure connections if necessary.
- Pump Runs, but Lift Doesn't Move: Check 'quick couplers' for tightness (Page 13). Ensure they are fully seated to allow fluid flow. Check fluid level (Page 13).
Frequently Asked Questions:
- Q: Does the lift have to go all the way up?
A: YES. For intended function, the lift must ALWAYS be stored in the full upright position when the boat is unattended. - Q: Is my boat secure?
A: Yes, once the lift is Over-Center™, power is switched off, and the power unit box is locked, security is enhanced. - Q: Do I need a mooring line?
A: One mooring line is usually sufficient to prevent the boat from drifting if the lift is inadvertently lowered or water levels rise. - Q: How much sun does the solar panel need?
A: The panel should receive constant sun for at least 8 hours a day. - Q: How do I change the hydraulic fluid?
A: For detailed instructions on changing or if fluid is contaminated, visit www.gobasta.com. - Q: Is the hydraulic fluid safe for fish?
A: Basta Boatlifts uses a special low-toxicity, mineral oil-based hydraulic fluid that is safe for the environment. Use only Basta Boatlifts approved fluid. - Q: What if I get a new boat?
A: Re-leveling the boat lift may be necessary. A new lift may be required if the new boat exceeds the current lift's weight capacity.

Maintenance
Your Basta Boatlift™ requires minimal maintenance.
- Occasionally wipe the solar panel with a clean, damp cloth.
- Every 6 Months: Inspect hoses, cylinders, and fittings for leaks and wear. Check wire terminals for snugness and corrosion.
- Battery: We STRONGLY recommend a maintenance-free AGM type battery. For flooded cell batteries, ensure electrolyte is slightly above the indicator ring and add DISTILLED water if necessary (do not over-fill).
- Hydraulic Fluid: Check the fluid level. It should be about one inch below the top of the reservoir with the lift DOWN. DO NOT add fluid with the lift in the raised position. Use only Basta Boatlifts biodegradable non-toxic hydraulic fluid.
A log for maintenance records is provided in the original document.
