Laying Cables
Cables can fit between and underneath LEGO® bricks, plates, and tiles if laid correctly between the LEGO® studs. Do NOT forcefully join LEGO® together around cables; instead, ensure they are laying comfortably between each stud. CAUTION: Forcing LEGO® to connect over a cable can result in damaging the cable and light.
Diagram shows LEGO bricks with wires correctly placed underneath and a warning symbol for forcing bricks.
Connecting Cable Connectors to Expansion Boards
Take extra care when inserting connectors to ports of Expansion Boards. Connectors can be inserted only one way. With the expansion board facing up, look for the soldered "=" symbol on the left side of the port. The connector side with the wires exposed should be facing toward the soldered "=" symbol as you insert into the port. If a plug won't fit easily into a port connector, do not force it. Incorrectly inserting the connector can result in bent pins inside the port or possible overheating of the expansion board when connected.
Diagram shows expansion board ports with correct (✔️) and incorrect (❌) connector insertion, highlighting the "=" symbol.
Connecting Cable Connectors to Strip Lights
Take extra care when inserting connectors to ports on the Strip Lights. Connectors can be inserted only one way. With the Strip Light facing up, ensure the side of the connector with the wires exposed is facing down. If a plug won't fit easily into a port connector, don't force it. Doing so will damage the plug and the connector.

Connecting Micro Cable Connectors to Micro Expansion Board Ports
Take extra care when inserting the micro connectors to micro ports of Micro Expansion Boards. Connecting Micro Bit Lights to Micro Expansion Boards is similar to connecting lights and cables to Strip Lights. With the expansion board facing up, ensure the side of the connector with the wires exposed is facing down. If a plug won't fit easily into a port connector, do not force it. Use your fingernail to push the plastic part of the connector to the micro port.

Installing Bit Lights Under LEGO® Bricks and Plates
When installing Bit Lights under LEGO® pieces, ensure they are placed the correct way up (Yellow LED component exposed). You can either place them directly on top of LEGO® studs or in between.

Troubleshooting
Light My Bricks lighting kits contain small, delicate components that can be easily damaged if not handled correctly. To prevent unnecessary damage, carefully read the "Important things to note" section in the User Guide and follow the handling procedures. If you experience issues, watch our troubleshooting video or read on for common causes.
Check Your Batteries
Flat Battery Pack (CR2032)
Ensure batteries have power using a charge gauge. If no power, replace them. If still no power, check correct insertion. Inside the battery pack, a symbol indicates CR2032 insertion. On the "+" side of the pack, the battery's "+" symbol should face downwards. On the "-" side, the battery's "+" symbol should face upwards.
Diagram shows a flat battery pack with CR2032 batteries and arrows indicating correct polarity (+ symbol facing down on one side, up on the other).
Round Battery Pack (CR2032)
For stacked battery packs, ensure BOTH CR2032 batteries have the "+" symbol facing upwards.
Diagram shows a round battery pack with CR2032 batteries and arrows indicating correct polarity (+ symbol facing upwards for both batteries).
AA Battery Pack
Inside the battery pack, symbols indicate AA battery direction. The flat side of the battery should pair with the spring side of the battery pack. If the kit still isn't operating correctly after correct battery installation, check the wiring.
Diagram shows an AA battery pack with symbols indicating correct battery insertion (flat side to spring).
Check Your Wires
Light My Bricks components are small and can be damaged if not handled correctly. Be careful when unpacking and avoid pulling wires, as this can damage the soldering. If wiring is detached from the LED, the light will not operate. Check for pinched wires underneath or between bricks; pinched wires can cause a crosswire and prevent lights from functioning.
Diagrams show detached LED wires and wires pinched between LEGO bricks.
Check Your Expansion Board Ports / Strip Light Ports / Effects Board Ports
Connectors can only be inserted into expansion board, strip light, or effects board ports in one direction. Forcibly inserting connectors incorrectly will damage the pins. A damaged port may not work, and if pins are bent and touching, it can cause a short circuit, stopping all lights. Short circuits can also cause overheating. If a short circuit is suspected, DISCONNECT POWER IMMEDIATELY. Batteries can fail, catch fire, or explode if left connected to a short circuit. To identify a faulty port, look for bent pins inside each port.
