Getting to know your Echo Studio
This document provides a quick start guide for the Amazon Echo Studio smart speaker.
Product Overview
The Amazon Echo Studio is a smart speaker designed to deliver immersive sound and integrate with the Alexa voice service.
Device Description: The Echo Studio is a cylindrical speaker. Its top surface features controls and indicators. Labels point to:
- Light ring: Indicates Alexa's status.
- Action button: For various interactions.
- Volume up button: Increases volume.
- Volume down button: Decreases volume.
- Microphone on/off button: Electronically disconnects the microphones.
The device also includes a power port and a 3.5 mm/mini-optical line-in port on the back for connecting audio components.

Alexa Privacy Features
Wake word and indicators
Alexa only begins listening when the wake word (e.g., "Alexa") is detected. A blue light or audible tone signals when audio is being sent to Amazon's secure cloud.
Microphone controls
The microphones can be electronically disconnected with a single button press.
Voice History
Users can view and delete voice recordings at any time within the Alexa app.

Setup Guide
1. Choose a location for your Echo Studio
For optimal performance, place the Echo Studio at your preferred listening height, at least 6 inches from walls, with clearance above and on both sides. The device automatically tunes its speakers based on placement.
2. Download the Amazon Alexa app
Install the latest version of the Alexa app on your phone or tablet from your device's app store.
3. Plug in your Echo Studio
Connect the included power cord to the Echo Studio's power port and plug it into an outlet. A blue light ring will appear, and Alexa will greet you, guiding you to complete setup in the Alexa app.
Connecting Audio Components
To connect external audio sources like CD players or MP3 players, use the 3.5 mm/mini-optical line-in port located on the back of the Echo Studio.
4. Set up your Echo Studio in the Alexa app
Open the Alexa app. Log in with your Amazon account credentials or create a new one. If the device setup prompt doesn't appear automatically, tap the 'More' icon and select 'Add device' to set it up manually.
The Alexa app is essential for managing your Echo Studio, including setting up calling and messaging, controlling music, managing lists, adjusting settings, and accessing news.
Optional: Set up compatible Zigbee smart home devices
The built-in smart home hub allows for easy connection and control of compatible Zigbee devices. To begin, open the Alexa app and add your device, or use the voice command, "Alexa, discover devices."
Manage and rename your smart home devices within the Alexa app by tapping the 'Devices' icon.
