Model Description
The 2006-2010 Pontiac Solstice roadster was the final sports car offering from Pontiac. Its development was notably rapid, conceived in just four months, though its launch occurred 17 years after the Mazda Miata. The Solstice was competitively priced at $19,915, made possible by utilizing GM's extensive inventory of existing parts from brands like Cadillac, Chevrolet, and GMC. The vehicle was built on the Kappa platform, shared with the Saturn Sky, Opel GT, and Daewoo GX2. This platform featured two hydroformed rails and a central backbone tunnel for structural rigidity.
The construction was robust, though the vehicle weighed 2888 pounds, approximately 400 pounds more than the Miata. The initial 2.4-liter, 177-hp four-cylinder engine and 5-speed transmission, sourced from the Chevy Colorado pickup, were considered adequate but not exceptional. Performance was significantly enhanced in the 2007 Solstice GXP, which featured a 260-hp, 2.0-liter DOHC turbocharged four-cylinder engine, reducing 0-60 mph times to 5.5 seconds. The GXP model was priced at $25,995.
A Solstice Coupe variant was introduced at the 2009 New York Auto Show, based on the GXP model. This coupe is considered handsome and rare, with only 1,266 units produced out of a total of 65,724 Solstices built. The coupe's removable targa top was designed to be stored in the car, but its size led to the offering of a canvas top alternative.
The discontinuation of the Pontiac brand in early 2010 has contributed to the Solstice's increasing collectability. Low-mileage examples, particularly GXP coupes, began appearing at auctions as early as 2011. Generally, the Pontiac Solstice remains an affordable option, offering a stylish alternative to other Japanese roadsters from the mid-2000s.

Vehicle's Condition Classification
#1. Concours
These vehicles represent the pinnacle of automotive condition, akin to a perfectly presented car at a prestigious concours event. They are immaculate, with flawless paint and chrome, and all materials are correct and expertly fitted. Dust and dirt are completely absent.
#2. Excellent
These vehicles are capable of winning local or regional shows and may have been previously #1 vehicles that have seen some use or aging. While seasoned observers might find minor flaws upon close inspection, the overall appearance of paint, chrome, glass, and finishes is excellent. The driving experience is comparable to that of a new vehicle from its era.
#3. Good
These vehicles are in good running order and are not typically used for daily transportation. Casual observers are unlikely to notice visual flaws, though some incorrect parts may be present. A #3 vehicle might exhibit some issues found in a #4 vehicle, but these are offset by factors like fresh paint or a new, correct interior.
#4. Fair
These vehicles are considered daily drivers and show visible flaws. This may include pitting on chrome, a chipped windshield, or minor body dents. Imperfect paintwork, split seams, or a cracked dashboard might be present. While no major parts are missing, non-stock additions may be present. A #4 vehicle can also represent a deteriorated restoration project.
