Installation Instructions
- Park on a level surface and ensure the engine has time to cool before installation. You will need a 48000 Plug-n-Play installation kit harness to plug lights into.
- Remove the seat and set it aside. Plug in the light to test and understand all functions before beginning the install. Unplug and continue.
- Clean the area where the light will be positioned thoroughly with an ammonia-based cleaner. Dry fit the light into position and temporarily tape it into place. For guidance on placement, note the position and align the light to the edge of the body line as shown in Fig. 1.
- Remove the mirror assembly. Locate and remove the screw at the bottom of the mirror, then gently remove the bottom cap cover. Subsequently, remove the two screws holding the mirror assembly and safely set it aside. Follow visual cues indicating to "Remove screw from bottom" and "Pull down from this end when removing" as depicted in Fig. 2a.
- Remove a pushpin by depressing the pin at the center button and remove it to allow the fairing to flex out. This is indicated by the instruction "Depress center button to release pin" in Fig. 2b.
- Pull out the fairing slightly and slide the connector wire down in front of the windshield. This is shown in Fig. 3.
- Remove two screws and a pushpin on the inside of the fairing and set them aside. Push the connector into the opening at the top and feed it down to the bottom while pulling the fairing slightly outward. Some type of fishtape may be helpful to get the connector to the bottom. Refer to Fig. 5, which shows the action "Push connector into opening" and "Move wire behind this clip".
- With the wire behind the front clip, feed it up and over the engine cover. Attach a wire keeper and cable tie to the connector wire and attach the wire keeper behind the fairing to keep the wire above the engine cover. This routing is illustrated in Fig. 6 with the label "Run cable behind fairing and over engine cover".
- Feed the wire through the fairing at a midway point and pull it through. In Fig. 7, the action "Place wire keeper on inside of fairing" is shown.
- Remove the screw at the top of the fairing cover and pull it out slightly. Bring the wire up behind the cover and plug it into the 48000 Plug-n-Play installation kit harness. Fig. 8 shows the action "Plug connector into 48000 harness" and "Remove screw".
- Repeat steps 3-10 on the other side of the motorcycle. Reattach all screws and pins and necessary cable ties to secure the wiring.
- Mark the position of the lights with masking tape. Remove the backing tape on the light and adhere it to the motorcycle using even pressure for 30-60 seconds. The temperature should be above 50 degrees Fahrenheit for the adhesive to cure properly.
