Safety Information
⚠️ Warning
- This guide contains basic installation and commissioning information. Failure to comply with safety instructions and relevant documentation may lead to equipment damage, personal injury, or death.
- Only trained and qualified professionals should perform operations.
? Danger
- Do not perform any wiring, inspection, or component replacement while power is applied. Ensure all input power supplies are disconnected and wait for the time specified on the VFD before proceeding.
1. RS-485 Point-to-Multipoint/Two-Wire Half-Duplex Repeater Communication Wiring Diagram
This diagram illustrates the connection of the RS-485 repeater in a point-to-multipoint, two-wire half-duplex network. It depicts the flow from an independent 24V power supply and a PLC/HMI to multiple VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) via a shielded twisted pair cable. The repeater facilitates communication by repeating, isolating, and filtering the RS-485 signal. A 120Ω terminal resistor is shown at the end of the bus, which can be enabled/disabled via a DIP switch on the repeater.
Key connections include:
- Power Supply: Independent 24V, COM
- Input Terminal (from PLC/HMI): PE (Ground), A (RS-485+), B (RS-485-)
- Output Terminal (to VFDs): PE (Ground), A1 (RS-485+), B1 (RS-485-)
- Bus Termination: 120Ω resistor, configurable via DIP switch.
2. Interface Definition
Type | Description | Definition |
---|---|---|
Input Terminal | PE | Input PE, securely connected to the ground. |
24V | RS-485 isolation board power supply, 9-36 VDC. | |
COM | Common ground/power return. | |
A | Input terminal RS-485 bus wiring, use shielded twisted pair (STP) cable to connect the input terminal to the PLC or computer. | |
B | Input terminal RS-485 bus wiring, use shielded twisted pair (STP) cable to connect the input terminal to the PLC or computer. | |
Output Terminal | PE | Output terminal shield layer connection. |
A1 | Output terminal RS-485 bus wiring, use shielded twisted pair (STP) cable to connect the output terminal to the VFD. | |
B1 | Output terminal RS-485 bus wiring, use shielded twisted pair (STP) cable to connect the output terminal to the VFD. | |
DIP switch | RS-485 bus termination resistor, enable/disable via DIP switch based on network requirements. |
3. Installation Dimensions
The repeater unit has approximate dimensions of 82mm (height) x 54mm (width) x 30mm (depth). It is designed for easy installation, supporting standard 35mm DIN rail mounting. The front panel features indicator LEDs for [TXD] (Transmit Data), [RXD] (Receive Data), and [PWR] (Power status). Connection terminals are provided for both input and output signals.
