Operation
Powering On
To power on the GT-110, press and release the button (①) while holding the detector away from any metallic objects. You will hear two beeps, and the LED (⑤) will remain illuminated.
Powering Off
To power off, press and hold the button (①) for approximately half a second until a single beep (or a single vibration in Silent Mode) is heard.
Changing Settings
The GT-110 offers two detection modes: Audio-plus-Vibrate or Vibrate-only (Silent Mode). To enter the adjustment mode, press and hold the button (①) for 2 seconds. This is indicated by a single beep followed by a dual-tone beep and a flashing LED (or vibration pulses in Silent Mode). The first button press after entering adjustment mode shows the current setting. Repeatedly pressing the button cycles through the two settings:
- 1 beep: Maximum Sensitivity with Audio and Vibration (Default setting).
- 2 vibrations: Maximum Sensitivity with Vibrate-only (Silent Mode).
Note: Settings are remembered when the unit is switched off and back on.
Advanced Operation and Tips
Fast Retune for Mineralized Ground
To tune out false signals from challenging environments such as saltwater, wet sand, or highly mineralized ground, hold the tip of the GT-110 to the ground and quickly press the button (①) for an instant retune. Repeat this process if necessary to further eliminate environmental responses.
The Fast Retune feature is designed to quickly tune out mineralized ground, saltwater, wet sand, and other difficult environmental conditions.
Precisely Pinpointing Large Targets
When a target is detected, slowly scan towards the object until the response increases to a full, constant alarm. Then, quickly press the button (①) to instantly retune and narrow the detection field. Continue scanning towards the object to find its precise location. Repeat the Fast Retune process as needed to further narrow the detection field.
Lost Pinpointer Alarm
If the GT-110 is left ON without any button presses for 5 minutes, it will begin emitting progressively faster warning chirps for 60 minutes. Pressing the power button will reset this alarm.
Auto-Off Feature
After one hour of warning chirps from the Lost Pinpointer Alarm, the GT-110 will automatically power off.
Scraping Blade
The rugged edge of the scraping blade is ideal for sifting through dirt while searching for a target. The GT-110's 360° side-scan detection capability means it will alarm when the blade is passed in close proximity to a metallic target.
Lanyard Attachment Clip
Use the lanyard attachment clip to secure the GT-110 to your belt, digging pouch, or your primary metal detector.
Holster
The included holster can be secured to any standard-size belt. It features a metal snap that will cause the pinpointer to alarm if it is put away while still powered on.
Maintenance and Usage
Ruler
The GT-110 has a ruler molded into its exterior to measure a target's depth in either centimeters or inches.
Low Battery Alarm
When the battery becomes low, the detector will sound an alternating dual-tone alarm. Replace the 9V battery as soon as possible.
Battery Replacement
To replace the battery, simply rotate the battery cover counterclockwise to remove it and clockwise to tighten it by hand. To properly install the 9V battery, match the larger battery terminal to the larger opening in the compartment. Remove the battery when the unit is to be stored for more than 30 days.
Operational Information
- Operation is completely automatic. All metals will be detected, including ferrous and non-ferrous.
- When a target is detected, the GT-110 will produce an audio and/or vibration alert. The rate of the pulsing audio and vibrations increases proportionately as the pinpointer is moved closer to a metallic target.
- To avoid cancelling out a target, do not turn on the GT-110 while it is adjacent to the target.
- Because the GT-110 is a static, non-motion detector, optimum operation is achieved when the unit is switched off between uses.
- Avoid using the GT-110 as a digging or prying tool. It is designed for flat side-scanning and precise pinpointing with its tip. It is not intended to be used with excessive force.
Water Use and Cleaning
- For water use, do not exceed 10 feet (3 meters) depth. Make sure the battery cap threads are free of sand, sediment, etc., and that the O-ring is periodically lubricated with silicone grease to maintain a tight seal.
- To remove dried dirt, mud, or other debris from the unit, simply hand wash it with soap, water, and a soft cloth. Do not use any type of abrasive or chemical cleaners which could scratch or erode its surface.
