Installation Procedure
Preparations: Plan the installation site and cord routing. Measure the chicken door opening and ensure it can be covered by a suitable door with guide rails. Have all components ready. If using mains power, ensure a socket is available near the installation site.
Suitable Installation Site: Find a level and stable base for the electronics unit, protected from rain. Be aware of increased load when the slider opens.
Attaching the Sliding Door and Electronics Unit:
- Attach the door to a slider (e.g., Art. 70560, 70570).
- Ensure the slider weighs a maximum of 5.5 lbs and moves vertically and closes by gravity.
- The door must move easily and close reliably when released. Lubricate sliding surfaces if needed.
- Route the pull cord unobstructed and without contact with foreign bodies.
- Ensure guide rails are precisely installed for reliable closure.
- Maintain a distance of no more than 0.2 inches between the door and building wall during movement. Ensure a minimal gap at the top when closed to prevent animal injury.
- The device, pulleys, and door should be on the same plane to prevent cord chafing.
- Install pulleys so they turn without high resistance.
- Securely fasten the electronics unit.
Connecting the Pull Cord:
- Press the [↑] button to move the cord to the upper terminal position until the knotted end stops.
- Move the door to fully open, leaving about 2 inches clearance for the motor to switch off.
- Connect the cord to the door so it's taut when the door is open.
- Knot the cord.
- Cut off excess cord length.
Diagram Description: The installation diagrams show the sequence of connecting the pull cord to the door and the electronics unit, illustrating how the cord is routed and tensioned.
Operating Instructions
Bringing into Operation
Connect the power pack to the device and plug it into a mains socket, or insert batteries. Both can be used for power failure backup. Connect battery wires. Open and close the door a few times to check smooth operation. Proceed with settings.
Operation
Time Setting
Press [OK] for 3-4 seconds to set the current date and time. The year flashes first, then month/day, then time. Use [↑] and [↓] to adjust values and [OK] to confirm. Press [Menu] to exit.
Automatic Opening and Closing with Timer
Set opening and closing times for weekdays and weekends. Automatic mode must be active for timer functions.
- Setting Times: Press [Menu] for 3-4 seconds. Set weekday opening time (indicated by a symbol), then weekday closing time (indicated by a symbol). Then set weekend opening and closing times (indicated by a dot at the end of the time).
- Activating Automatic Mode: Press [↑] when the door is open or [↓] when closed. Automatic mode is indicated by a small empty circle at the top of the display.
- Deactivating Timer: Press [Menu] + [OK] simultaneously to use only the light sensor. Display shows 't-off'. Press again to reactivate timer.
Using the Light Sensor
Connect the light sensor and position it to detect daylight without interference from other light sources (streetlights, house lights, car headlights). A one-minute delay prevents accidental opening from lightning.
- When automatic mode is active, the door opens/closes at the preset brightness level. Timer times still apply.
- If the set closing time is reached, the door closes regardless of brightness.
- If the set opening time is reached, the door remains closed until sufficient brightness is detected by the light sensor.
The sensor's switching threshold can be adjusted using the adjustment wheel [13]. Turning left makes the door close later in the morning or earlier in the evening.
Diagram Description: A graph illustrates how the light sensor operates throughout a day, showing opening and closing based on light levels and timer settings.
Manual Operation
Use [↑] and [↓] buttons to open/close manually. Manual operation deactivates automatic functions. Manual mode is indicated by a solid square dot on the display. Automatic mode can be reactivated by pressing [↑] (door open) or [↓] (door closed).
Switching the Device Off
Disconnect the power cable and remove batteries.
