Audix ADS48 UHF Antenna Distribution System

Overview

The Audix ADS48 is a wide range UHF antenna distribution system that combines up to four wireless systems to be able to run off a single pair of antennas and power supply. The ADS48 has an internal switching power supply which eliminates the need for the individual DC power supplies normally needed for each receiver. RF signals are internally amplified in order to compensate for any loss that may result from splitting the signal.

Supplied Accessories

  • 1 x ADS48 Antenna Distribution Unit with rack mount
  • 2 x Antennas (Refer to image A for visual representation)
  • 1 x IEC power cable
  • 4 x Power Jumper Cables to provide power to individual receivers (Refer to image B for visual representation)
  • 8 x BNC-to-BNC Coaxial Cables for pass-through connection for up to 4 additional receivers (single or dual) (Refer to image C for visual representation)
  • 2 x Coaxial cables for front mounting antennas (Refer to image D for visual representation)

Setting Up the Distribution System

Front Mounting Antennas

Perform these steps before installing the unit in a rack:

  1. Remove the hex nut from the threaded end of the front mount antenna cable.
  2. Insert the end of the front mounting cable through the back side of the rack hole. Note that the hole is slotted on one side, allowing insertion in only one orientation. Screw on the hex nut to secure.
  3. Attach the antenna cable on the left side to Antenna A INPUT and the cable on the right side of the unit to Antenna B INPUT. Install the ADS48 into the rack. (Refer to connection points B and F on the rear panel diagram).

Rear Panel Connections Diagram

The rear panel features the following connection points:

  • A: 100V-240V~ 50/60Hz 60W (AC Power Input)
  • B: +8V 150mA (DC Output for Receiver 1)
  • C: ANTENNA B OUTPUT #1 (RF Output to Receiver 1)
  • D: +12V OUTPUT 800mA (DC Output for Receiver 2)
  • E: ANTENNA A OUTPUT #1 (RF Output to Receiver 2)
  • F: ANTENNA A INPUT (RF Input from Antenna A)
  • G: ANTENNA B INPUT (RF Input from Antenna B)

Cable Instruction for Antenna Distribution for Additional Receivers

All cables are connected from the back side of the ADS48 to the back side of the additional receiver(s).

Using a BNC antenna coax cable, connect Antenna A OUTPUT #1 from the ADS48 (point E) to Antenna A on the Performance Series receiver. Connect Antenna B OUTPUT #1 from the ADS48 (point C) to Antenna B on the Performance Series receiver.

Additional receivers are connected in the same sequence.

IMPORTANT: Antennas must be hooked up correctly, A to A and B to B, to function properly.

Cable Instruction for Power Distribution

All cables are connected from the back side of the ADS48 to the back side of the additional receiver(s).

Using the power jumper cables, plug one side of the cable into a DC Output port on the ADS48 (e.g., +8V 150mA at point B for Receiver 1) and the other end to the DCV Input on the Performance Series receiver. Additional receivers are connected in the same sequence.

Power Cable Connection

Plug the provided IEC power cable into the back of the ADS48 (point A) and then into an electrical outlet.

Power Up Procedure

Power up the ADS48 via the power switch on the front. The indicator light will illuminate, showing the unit is powered.

The ADS48 acts as the master power unit for all receivers in the chain. Receivers will not power up unless the master power switch on the ADS48 is turned on.
