Specified Installation Position on Front Windshield
When installing the product, consider the following for placement on the front windshield, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations:
- Install where it does not obstruct airbag deployment zones. The ideal location is behind the rear-view mirror, out of the driver's direct view.
- Position the product so it is within 20% of the windshield's top edge (excluding areas covered by weatherstrips, moldings, etc.) or in the shadow of the rear-view mirror. Note that "20%" is an estimate; adhere to local laws.
- Ensure the camera lens is within the wiper's wiping range.
- Position the lens so it does not overhang the sunshade or black ceramic lines/pattern.
- Mount the product horizontally, facing forward and side-to-side.
- Ensure the USB power cable can be routed without strain.
Diagrams illustrate recommended placement, showing angles, directions, and proximity to vehicle components like A-pillars and airbags.
Installing the Dash Camera
- Clean the installation area: Wipe the area with a clean cloth to remove dirt and oil.
- Install the product:
- Peel the protective film from the dash camera mount's double-sided tape.
- Mount the product at the specified position on the front windshield and press firmly.
- Caution: Ensure the windshield is clean and dry before mounting. The double-sided tape is very strong and should not be reapplied. For optimal adhesion, leave the product undisturbed for 24 hours.
- Note: Remove the protective film from the camera lens.
- Connecting the cables:
- Connect the power cable to the power adapter and the main unit.
- Connect the USB power adapter to the vehicle's cigarette lighter socket. Ensure a secure connection by fully inserting it. (Socket location varies by vehicle).
- Warning: Use only a 12V vehicle accessory cigarette lighter socket or USB port to prevent damage or malfunction.
- Caution: The accessory socket can become very hot. The power cable tip may melt or short circuit if plugged into a hot socket. Ensure the socket is cool before connecting.
- Adjust the camera angles for optimal external video display.
Direct Connection with Vehicle Battery (Parking Mode)
To enable parking mode, you may need to purchase and install a Hardwire Kit, ideally by a trained technician. This allows the dash camera to detect and record vehicle movement via vibration even when the engine is off.
Note: If switching back to a USB power adapter from a Hardwire Kit, perform a factory reset via the app or GUI to ensure proper operation.
Wiring:
- Ground (Black): Connect securely to a metal part of the vehicle body, preferably near the navigation unit to minimize noise.
- Battery power supply (Yellow): Connect to the battery's power circuit, regardless of the engine switch position.
- Accessory power supply (Red): Connect to the circuit powered when the vehicle's engine switch is in the ACC position. Do not connect if the vehicle lacks an ACC position, as this may drain the battery.
Diagrams illustrate wiring connections for Ground, Battery (+), and Accessory (+), including fuse placement and connection points.
Connection Precautions:
- To prevent damage, securely connect the black ground wire to the vehicle's metal body first. Use separate ground wires for high-current devices. Loose or detached screws can cause damage or fumes.
