Important Installation Notes

Wiring for Power and Ground

At Amplifier:

[Diagram shows amplifier terminals for Battery, REM, and Ground.]

At Ground Location:

Use a factory bolt or a ring connector attached to the ground wire. Ensure a clean connection by removing any paint from the mounting surface below the ring connector. A star washer is recommended. [Diagram shows ground connection components: Factory Bolt, Ring Connector, Ground Wire, Star Washer.]

Wiring for Input Signal

Low-Level Signals:

Connect RCA cables from the stereo's subwoofer low-level outputs to the amplifier's input. [Diagram shows RCA cable connections.] When using low-level signals and a remote turn-on lead, set the "TURN-ON MODE" switch to "REM" and the "INPUT LEVEL" switch to "LO".

High-Level Signals:

Connect speaker wires from the stereo's front or rear speaker outputs directly to the amplifier's high-level inputs. [Diagram shows speaker wire connections.] When using high-level signals, set the "TURN-ON MODE" switch to "DC" and the "INPUT LEVEL" switch to "HI1". If no sound plays, change the "INPUT LEVEL" switch to "HI2".

Connecting Two Club A1000 Amplifiers for Extra Power

To connect two Club A1000 amplifiers, use an RCA patch cable to connect the "PRIMARY OUT" of the primary amplifier to the "SECONDARY IN" of the secondary amplifier. Set the Primary/Secondary switch to "PRIMARY" on the primary amplifier, and to "SECONDARY" on the secondary amplifier. [Diagram shows RCA connection between two amplifiers, labeled AMP 1 and AMP 2, with PRIMARY OUT and SECONDARY IN ports.]

Wiring for Audio Output

One Subwoofer (4ohm/2ohm): [Diagram shows one subwoofer connected to the amplifier output.]

Two Subwoofers (4ohm): [Diagram shows two subwoofers connected to the amplifier output.]

Connecting the Remote Bass Controller

Connect the remote bass controller to the amplifier's remote control input. [Diagram shows the remote bass controller and its connection cable.]

Setting Gain, Crossovers, and Bass Boost

Setting the Gain:

  1. Start with the GAIN control set to minimum and the crossover control rotated midway.
  2. Choose music with substantial bass content.
  3. Turn the volume control on your receiver to 75% of its total output.
  4. Adjust the GAIN control clockwise, listening carefully to the bass output. If distortion is heard, turn the GAIN control counterclockwise to decrease the gain.
[Diagram shows GAIN control dial.]

Selecting the Crossover Frequency:

Choose the crossover point to suit listening preferences. Turn the dial to the left to lower the crossover point and to the right to raise it. Exact settings depend on your preferences. [Diagram shows FREQ control dial (32Hz-320Hz).]

Selecting the Subwoofer Phase:

Switch the PHASE control back and forth to determine which setting provides the most clean bass output. [Diagram shows PHASE switch (0° / 180°).]

Selecting the Bass Boost:

Adjust the BASS BOOST control clockwise or counterclockwise to suit your taste. [Diagram shows BASS BOOST control dial.]

Troubleshooting

No audio and POWER INDICATOR is off: Check for voltage at BATT+ and/or REM terminals, or a bad/no ground connection. Use a VOM to check voltages at amplifier terminals.

No audio and PROTECT INDICATOR flashes every 4 seconds: DC voltage on amplifier output. Amplifier may require service; refer to warranty card for details.

No audio and PROTECT and POWER INDICATORS flash: Voltage is less than 9V on the BATT+ connection. Check the vehicle charging system.

No audio and PROTECT INDICATOR is on: Amplifier may be overheated (ensure cooling is not blocked) or voltage is outside the 8.5V-16V range on BATT+. Check the vehicle charging system.

Amplifier fuse keeps blowing: Wiring may be connected incorrectly or there is a short circuit. Check all wiring connections.

Distorted audio: Gain may not be set properly. Check wiring for shorts or grounds. The amplifier or source unit may be defective.

Distorted audio and PROTECT INDICATOR flashes: Short circuit in speaker or speaker wire. Remove speaker leads one by one to locate the short and repair.

Music lacks dynamics or "punch": Speakers may not be connected properly. Check speaker connections for correct polarity.

Engine noise (whining or clicking) when the engine is on: Amplifier may be picking up alternator noise. First, check the amplifier's ground connection. A loose or improper ground is a common cause of noise. Try turning down the gain and moving RCA audio cables away from power wires. Consider installing an alternator noise filter on the power line between the battery and alternator.

JBL Stadium BassHub

Thank You & About the Manual

Thank you for your purchase. This manual describes general installation and operation instructions for the JBL Stadium BassHub. Proper installation requires qualified experience. Consult an authorized JBL dealer if you lack the necessary knowledge or tools. Keep this manual and sales receipts for reference.

What's in the Box

[Diagram shows all items included in the box.]

Mounting the Stadium BassHub

The Stadium BassHub mounts inside the rim of the spare tire in your trunk. Follow these steps:

  1. Remove the vehicle's spare mounting post.
  2. Place the spare tire in the trunk with the outside facing downwards; the back of the rim should face you. This ensures sufficient mounting depth.
  3. Carefully place the Stadium BassHub inside the rim of the spare tire.
  4. Insert the Stadium BassHub mounting post into the slot in the center of the BassHub. Turn clockwise to thread the post into the spare tire mounting bracket and tighten.

Note: Some applications may require using the included adapter to provide a threaded slot for the mounting post. Insert the adapter, twist to lock, then repeat steps 3 and 4. Do not overtighten the mounting post to avoid damaging the BassHub or tire rim.

[Diagram sequence shows tire placement, BassHub insertion, mounting post installation, and optional adapter use.]

Connecting the Wiring Harness

To connect the speaker wiring harness to the input on the right side of the Stadium BassHub:

  1. Use the included 2.5mm Allen wrench to remove two screws securing the cover on the top panel.
  2. Lift off the cover.
  3. Insert the harness into the input.
[Diagram shows cover removal and harness insertion.]

Wiring the Stadium BassHub to Your Amplifier

The Stadium BassHub features dual 4-ohm voice coils that can be wired in series for an 8-ohm impedance load or in parallel for a 2-ohm impedance load. Observe proper wire polarity.

For Parallel Wiring:

  1. Connect the SUB1+ and SUB2+ wires to the + output on the amplifier.
  2. Connect the SUB1- and SUB2- wires to the - output on the amplifier.
[Diagram shows parallel wiring configuration for two subwoofers.]

For Series Wiring:

  1. Connect the SUB1+ wire to the + output on the amplifier.
  2. Connect the SUB2- wire to the - output on the amplifier.
  3. Splice the SUB1- and SUB2+ wires together.
[Diagram shows series wiring configuration for two subwoofers.]

IMPORTANT: Ensure your amplifier is compatible with your desired impedance load. Connecting a 2-ohm impedance load to an amplifier not rated for 2 ohms can cause overheating, malfunction, or damage.
