20S EVO Quick Start Guide

Installation

This section details the physical installation of the Sena 20S EVO headset onto a helmet.

Step 1: Mount the main unit onto the helmet. The guide shows the unit being attached to a helmet clamp, with an arrow indicating upward pressure to secure it. The microphone boom extends forward.

Microphone Direction: Ensure the microphone fin is positioned correctly near the mouth for optimal voice pickup.

DC Power Charging & Firmware Upgrade Port: Located on the main unit for charging the battery and updating firmware.

Button Operation

The Sena 20S EVO utilizes a Jog Dial and a Phone Button for various functions. Operations are categorized as:

  • [Tap]: A single, quick press of a button.
  • [Double Tap]: Two quick presses of a button in succession.
  • [Press for 1 sec]: Pressing and holding a button for approximately one second.
  • [Press and Hold]: Pressing and holding a button for a longer duration (e.g., 6 or 12 seconds).

Power and Volume Control

Power On/Off

To turn the device on or off, simultaneously press and hold the [Jog Dial] and the [Phone Button] for 1 second.

Volume Adjustment

To adjust the volume, rotate the [Jog Dial]. Rotate clockwise to increase volume (+) and counter-clockwise to decrease volume (-).

Ambient Mode

Activate Ambient Mode by tapping the [Ambient Mode Button]. Double tap the [Ambient Mode Button] to turn Ambient Mode off.

Bluetooth Pairing (Phone, MP3 and GPS)

To initiate Bluetooth pairing with a phone, MP3 player, or GPS device:

  1. Press and hold the [Phone Button] for 5 seconds. The [Status LED] will indicate pairing mode (flashing blue and red).
  2. On your device, select 'Sena 20S' from the list of available Bluetooth devices.
  3. If prompted for a PIN, enter '0000'.

Mobile Phone Operations

  • Answer Call: [Tap] the [Phone Button].
  • End Call: [Tap] the [Phone Button].
  • Voice Dial: [Tap] the [Phone Button].
  • Speed Dial: [Double Tap] the [Phone Button].
  • Reject Call: Press and hold the [Jog Dial] for 2 seconds.
  • Call Transfer: Press and hold the [Phone Button] for 2 seconds to transfer the active call between the headset and your mobile phone.

Music Control

  • Play/Pause Music: [Tap] the [Jog Dial] or say "Music".
  • Next Track: Rotate the [Jog Dial] clockwise while pressing it.
  • Previous Track: Rotate the [Jog Dial] counter-clockwise while pressing it.

Battery Check

After powering on the device, the [Status LED] indicates the battery level:

  • 70 ~ 100%: [Status LED] shows Blue, Red, Blue, Blue.
  • 30 ~ 70%: [Status LED] shows Blue, Red, Red, Blue.
  • 0 ~ 30%: [Status LED] shows Blue, Red, Red, Red.

Configuration Menu

To access the Configuration Menu, press and hold the [Jog Dial] for 12 seconds. Universal Intercom Pairing is available within this menu.

Intercom Operations

Quick Pairing Intercom

To pair two headsets using Quick Pairing:

  1. Shake both headsets. The [Status LED] on both units will turn green when successfully paired.
  2. [Tap] the [Jog Dial] on one headset to initiate the pairing process.

Normal Pairing Intercom

To pair two headsets using Normal Pairing:

  1. Press and hold the [Jog Dial] on both headsets for 6 seconds. The [Status LED] will flash red.
  2. [Tap] the [Jog Dial] on one headset to initiate the pairing process.

Start/End Intercom

  • 1st Friend: [Tap] the [Jog Dial].
  • 2nd Friend: [Tap] the [Jog Dial].
  • 3rd to 9th Friend: [Tap] the [Jog Dial]. Rotate the [Jog Dial] to select the desired friend, then [Tap] to confirm or press and hold for 3 seconds to cancel.

Start/End Group Intercom

To start or end Group Intercom, press and hold the [Ambient Mode Button] for 1 second.

Radio Operations

Radio On/Off

Turn the FM Radio on or off by pressing the [Phone Button] for 2 seconds, or by saying "FM Radio".

Seek Stations

Scan for radio stations by rotating the [Jog Dial] while pressing it. Rotate clockwise for Seek Up and counter-clockwise for Seek Down.

Scan Up FM Band

To scan the FM band, [Tap] the [Phone Button] to start scanning, or [Double Tap] the [Phone Button] to stop scanning.

Save Preset

While scanning, [Tap] the [Phone Button] to save the currently tuned station as a preset.

Save or Delete Preset

To manage preset stations:

  1. Press and hold the [Jog Dial] for 2 seconds.
  2. Rotate the [Jog Dial] to select a preset number (1-10) or to cancel the operation.
  3. [Tap] the [Jog Dial] to save the current station to the selected preset.
  4. [Tap] the [Phone Button] to delete the station from the selected preset.

Move to Preset Station

To tune to a saved preset station, [Tap] the [Phone Button]. Tap sequentially to cycle through presets: 1 ➡️ 2 ➡️ ... ➡️ 5 ➡️ ... ➡️ 9 ➡️ 10.

Voice Command

Activate voice command features by tapping the [Ambient Mode Button] or by saying "Hello Sena".

"Speed dial [one, two, three]" Speed dialing
