Grandstream GWN70xx Wireless Router Firmware Release Notes

IMPORTANT UPGRADING NOTE

1. GWN70xx 1.0.9.42 requires GWN Manager version to be at least 1.1.28.27 or newer.

2. Downgrading from firmware 1.0.9.x or higher version to 1.0.7.x or lower version will cause device to perform factory reset automatically. All device configurations will be reset to factory default settings after downgrading.

NEW FEATURE OVERVIEW (Firmware Version 1.0.9.34)

Speed test

This feature allows users to test the upload speed of their network connection. The interface displays the current upload speed, the test server used (e.g., Saopaulo), and the service provider.

ISP default configuration

With the provided GS configuration tool, administrators can provision an ISP default configuration to the router. After provisioning, by performing a factory reset, the device will restore to the customized default configuration rather than the original factory default.

NEW FEATURE OVERVIEW (Firmware Version 1.0.9.10 / 1.0.9.9)

AP Mode

The GWN wireless router can now change its Operation Mode between Router and Access Point. The default mode is Router mode. Access Point mode allows the router to function as a MESH RE-AP, enabling it to form a MESH network with other GWN CAP or wireless routers.

Firewall - DoS Defense & Spoofing Defense

This update introduces additional firewall defense features, including Denial of Service (DoS) Defense and Spoofing Defense capabilities.

IGMP

Support for IGMP proxy and IGMP snooping settings has been added, enhancing multicast traffic management.

Policy Routing: ICMP & Schedule

ICMP has been added as a protocol type, and the Schedule feature is now available to manage policy routes.

HostName Access

This feature allows local users to access the router's web portal using a configured hostname.

USB: 4G Dongle

After inserting a 4G USB dongle, users can now configure the 4G USB modem option within the router's settings.

DHCP Option Optimization & Option 43 Service List

Enhancements have been made to DHCP option optimization and the configuration of Option 43 Service Lists.

Alert

New alert notification settings have been introduced, allowing for more granular control over system alerts.

Triple Play

Configuration for Triple Play services is available under Network Settings > WAN > Edit WAN.

Bandwidth Limit

Users can now configure bandwidth limits for network traffic. Settings include specifying IP addresses/mask length, maximum upload/download bandwidth, and bandwidth schedules.

Vouchers

Configuration for vouchers is available under Captive Portal > Vouchers.

WireGuard®

Support for WireGuard® VPN has been added, allowing for secure VPN connections.

mDNS Bonjour

The mDNS Bonjour feature has been enhanced, providing better service discovery capabilities.

Static IP binding by client ID

This feature allows for static IP address binding based on client ID, improving network management.

PPSK

Configuration for PPSK (Private Pre-Shared Key) is available under AP Management > PPSK.

TR069

TR069 management capabilities have been enhanced, allowing for remote management and configuration of devices.
