Download the MyDyson™ app

The MyDyson™ app enhances your experience by allowing you to control your headphones, monitor air quality and noise levels, and check battery and filter status. Download it from the App Store or Google Play and follow the on-screen instructions to create an account.

Getting started

Audio Joystick: Located on the back of the right ear cup, it controls music, volume, and voice assistant access. Use your thumb to access it.

Ergonomic Ear Cup: Angled at -13° and oval-shaped for comfort.

Electrostatic Carbon Filter: Filters air for purification.

Filter Cover: Twist and release for easy and hygienic filter replacement. It can be detached from the main body by twisting and releasing outwards.

Headband: Adjustable to fit different head sizes.

Transparency Mode: Double-tap either ear cup to amplify surrounding sounds.

Travel Visor: Adjustable to suit different face shapes and sizes. It attaches to supply purified air.

Slide Adjustor: Adapts the fit to different face shapes and sizes.

Auto-Activity Mode: Controls airflow based on your activity level. Use the button on the left ear cup or the MyDyson™ app to select modes.

USB-C Charger: Used to charge your headphones.

Assembling your headphones

  1. Insert Filters: Twist off both ear cup covers anti-clockwise. Hold the filters by their plastic edges and secure them into the ear cups. Replace the covers and twist them clockwise to secure.
  2. Adjust Headphones: Put on the headphones and adjust the headband by sliding both sides until you achieve a comfortable fit.

Attach travel visor

  1. Remove any packaging from the travel visor and fully extend its arms.
  2. Attach the travel visor to each ear cup using the magnetic connectors.
  3. Push the travel visor up to cover your nose and mouth.
  4. Adjust the travel visor for a comfortable position, close to but not touching your face. Airflow will start automatically.

Pairing your headphones

Connecting to the MyDyson™ app: Download the app from the App Store or Google Play and follow the on-screen instructions to create an account or add your machine.

Turning on headphones: Press and hold the Airflow button on the left ear cup. The LED will turn white. Holding for 5 seconds turns them off; holding for 5-10 seconds resets them.

Pairing headphones: Press and hold the Airflow button until the LED pulses blue. The MyDyson™ app will confirm pairing.

Connecting audio via Bluetooth®: Enable Bluetooth on your mobile device, select your Dyson Zone™ headphones, and return to the MyDyson™ app.

Charging your headphones

Your headphones require over 20% charge to run purification. Check the charge level by pressing the Airflow button. Battery life improves with use; allow at least 5 hours of initial use for optimal runtime.

Action and LED behaviour:

  • Battery > 20% charged: Green LED ?.
  • Battery < 20% charged: Solid amber LED ? (for 5 seconds).
  • Charging: Pulsing amber LED ?.
  • Fully charged: Constant green LED ? (for 5 minutes, then fades off).
  • Insufficient charge for purification: Flashing amber LED ? (for 5 seconds).
  • Battery charge under 20%: Solid amber LED ? (for 5 seconds).

Airflow control

Your Dyson Zone™ headphones automatically detect your activity level to adjust airflow. You can also adjust levels manually via the MyDyson™ app or the button on the left ear cup.

Battery Life: Can be extended by using low airflow settings.

Modes:

  • Auto: Airflow adapts to your activity level.
  • Rest: Lowest airflow setting, extends battery life.
  • Light: Increased airflow setting.
  • Moderate: Highest available airflow setting.
  • Off: Airflow is off.

Using audio

Play audio via Bluetooth® or the audio cable. Audio can be played with or without the travel visor attached.

Audio Controls: Use the MyDyson™ app or the joystick on the back of your right ear cup.

  • Play/Pause: Press the middle of the joystick.
  • Skip Track: Tap the joystick left or right.
  • Fast Forward/Rewind: Press and hold the joystick left or right.
  • Volume: Push the joystick up or down.
  • Voice Assistant: Press and hold the middle of the joystick.

Active noise cancelling

Use Active noise cancelling (ANC) to reduce background noise.

  • Isolation Mode: Maximum ANC for reducing surrounding and background noise; this is the default setting.
  • Transparency Mode: Double-tap either ear cup to amplify surrounding sounds.
  • Conversation Mode: Flip the travel visor down to pause airflow, audio, and noise cancelling. Voices are amplified so you can hear conversations while wearing the headphones.

Audio joystick

Detailed actions for the audio joystick:

  • Volume Up (slow): Press joystick up.
  • Volume Up (quick): Press joystick up repeatedly; volume increases until released.
  • Volume Down (slow): Press joystick down.
  • Trigger Voice Assistant: Press and hold joystick.
  • Play/Pause Audio: Press joystick once.
  • Skip to Previous Track/Restart Track: Press joystick to the left.
  • Rewind: Press joystick to the left.
  • Skip to Next Track: Tap joystick to the right once.
  • Fast Forward: Press and hold joystick to the right.
  • End Voice Assistant: Press joystick.
  • Call Handling: Accept call (press joystick), Decline call (press and hold joystick), End call (press joystick).

LEDs

LEDs indicate the status of your Dyson Zone™ headphones.

  • Power On/Off: White LED ⚪ (momentary).
  • Battery Status: Green ? (>20% charged), Amber ? (<20% charged or charging).
  • Connected to Power: Constant green ? (fully charged), Pulsing amber ? (charging).
  • Insufficient Charge for Purification: Flashing amber ? (5 seconds).
  • Bluetooth®: Pulsing blue ? (discoverable), Solid blue ? (connected).
  • Filter: Pulsing pink ? (needs changing).
  • Alerts: Flashing red ? (seek Dyson support), Pulsed flashing white ⚪ (update installing).

In-flight adaptor

Connect the in-flight cable to the 2-pin adaptor and plug into the plane's entertainment system. The adaptor charges headphones only when the USB-C cable is also used. Audio controls on the headphones will not function when the in-flight adaptor is in use.

Warning: The in-flight 2-pin adaptor is for audio outlets only. Connecting to a mains socket outlet may pose a fire risk or electric shock hazard. ⚠️

Changing your filters

Your MyDyson™ app and headphones will alert you when filter life is low. Filters are not washable and must be replaced when prompted.

  1. Remove Covers: Twist ear cup covers anti-clockwise to release.
  2. Remove Filters: Carefully lift out old filters, avoiding dust. Dispose of them.
  3. Insert Filters: Place new filters into the ear cups.
  4. Replace Covers: Twist covers clockwise to lock into position.
  5. Reset Filter Life: Remember to reset your filter life in the MyDyson™ app after changing filters.

Cleaning your Dyson Zone™ noise-cancelling headphones

Regular cleaning is essential for maintaining performance. Allow headphones to dry completely before use.

Quick Clean:

  • Ear Covers: Wipe away dust/debris with a soft, damp, lint-free cloth.
  • Ear Cushions: Wipe away dust/debris with a soft, damp, lint-free cloth.
  • Attachable Travel Visor: Wipe away dust/debris with a soft, damp, lint-free cloth.

Regular Cleaning:

  1. Remove the travel visor by pushing it down and gently pulling it away from the ear cups.
  2. Clean the inside and outside of the ear cups with a lint-free cloth.
  3. Clean the travel visor and its mesh components separately. Wash with warm water and dish soap, using the Dyson travel visor cleaning brush. Rinse thoroughly.
  4. Dry all parts in a well-ventilated, warm place before reassembly.

Reassembling your headphones

  1. Ensure all parts of the travel visor are completely dry.
  2. Slide the side extensions into both ends of the travel visor until they click into position.
  3. Clip the inner mesh into the inside of the travel visor.
  4. Reattach the travel visor to each ear cup using the magnetic connectors.
