3. Operation
3.1 Instrument Structure
The instrument comprises several key components:
- Type-C Port Charging Port: Located at the top for charging the device.
- Power Button: Situated on the side of the device.
- QR Code: On the back of the device, used for downloading the "LScolor" APP.
- Display Screen: The main interface located on the top surface of the instrument.
- Calibration White Board: A white plate integrated into the base for calibration.
- Test Port: The opening at the front of the device where samples are placed for measurement.
- Bottom Cover: The base of the instrument.
3.2 Calibration
Upon entering the "calibration" interface, users can perform calibration following the on-screen animation or choose to skip it. Calibration is recommended after extended periods of non-use to ensure measurement accuracy.
3.3 Measurement
The instrument defaults to "Lab" as the measurement parameter. Users can access the settings interface by clicking the "Param" button at the top of the screen. From there, they can select the desired parameters for measurement, including various color spaces and formulas such as Lab, LCh, Luv, Yxy, CMYK, RGB, YI-98, WI-98, WI-Gauz, WI-Hunter, WI-R457, HSL, HSV, ITA, and Spectra.
4. Color Difference Compare and Settings
The interface allows for detailed color comparison and configuration:
- Color Format Setting: Users can select from a list of color spaces (e.g., CIE_Lab, CIE_LCh, Yxy, CMYK, RGB, YI-98, WI-98, WI-Gauz, WI-Hunter, WI-R457, HSL, HSV, ITA, Spectra) using radio buttons.
- Standard Color Data: Displays the color values (L*, a*, b*) of the standard sample.
- Sample Color Data: Displays the color values (L*, a*, b*) of the measured sample.
- Color Data Deviation: Shows the difference (Δ) between the standard and sample color values for L*, a*, and b*.
- Color Bias Alert: Provides textual feedback on color bias (e.g., "Normal Slight Green Normal").
- Total Color Difference (ΔE): Displays the calculated total color difference, such as ΔE*ab.
- Pass Status: Indicates whether the measurement passes or fails based on the set threshold (e.g., "ΔE*ab = 0.41 PASS").
- Fail Status: Shows failure information if the measurement exceeds the threshold (e.g., "ΔE*ab = 3.51 NG").
- Scan Buttons: Includes options like "Scan Standard", "Scan Sample", "Color Scan", and "Color Compare".
- Input Standard: Allows manual input of L*, a*, b* values using an on-screen numeric keypad, with "OK" and "Cancel" options.
- Standard History: A list displaying previously saved color standards with their respective measured values.
- ΔE Setup: Enables users to set the ΔE Threshold (e.g., 0.1-50) and select preferred color difference formulas (ΔE*ab, ΔE*uv, ΔE*94, ΔE*cmc(2:1), ΔE*cmc(1:1), ΔE*cmc(1.4:1), ΔE*00) via radio buttons.

8. Precautions
- If the colorimeter has not been used for a long time, it is recommended to perform calibration before use.
- Ensure the sample surface is evenly colored and flat for accurate measurements. Uneven or unclean surfaces can affect accuracy.
- After removing the base, store it in a clean place to prevent contamination of the standard tile.
- Do not insert any objects into the colorimeter for cleaning, as this can cause damage and affect measurement accuracy and operational safety.
- Charge the colorimeter promptly when the battery is low.
- If the device is not used for over 6 months, charge it periodically to prevent battery over-discharge and damage.
- Annual calibration is recommended. Calibration services are available.
- Color displayed on the instrument screen is for reference only, due to potential differences in LCD screen color reproduction.
- Possible reasons for failed calibration:
- The bottom cap is not closed properly.
- The standard tile on the bottom cap requires cleaning.
- The light source intensity has attenuated, requiring factory inspection and repair.
9. Locating Plate
The colorimeter includes a locating plate to ensure precise alignment for specific measurement areas. The plate features concentric circles, with the inner circle indicating the precise measurement area.
