PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 EXAMINATION
Examine installation conditions and notify the Architect/Engineer or Construction Manager of any detrimental conditions before proceeding with work.
3.2 INSTALLATION
- Strictly comply with manufacturer's installation instructions and recommendations. Coordinate installation to ensure proper clearances and prevent electrical hazards.
- Locate panels as indicated on Drawings or directed by the Architect/Engineer.
- Enclosure Mounting: For surface mounting, use designated holes on the rear for wood screws onto a plywood backboard. For recessed mounting, install between studs (16" o.c.), bending side tabs for gypsum board and securing to studs. Adjust depth using embossed marks if gypsum board thickness differs.
- Power Connections: Run AC power to modules requiring it. Remove enclosure knock-out, install a single-gang metal outlet box, and run non-metallic power cable for a 15A, 120VAC receptacle. Connect the ground cable from the enclosure's ground screw to the electrical ground.
- Rough-in telephone, coaxial, security, and control wiring from the enclosure to remote devices.
- Install enclosure hinged cover per manufacturer's instructions.
- Install combo modules, network interface modules, AC power kits, power strip modules, wall plates, and keystone inserts as specified per manufacturer's written instructions.
3.3 CLEANING AND PROTECTION
- Clean exposed surfaces using non-abrasive materials and methods recommended by the manufacturer.
- Protect residential multimedia panels and components until acceptance.
Diagram Descriptions
RJ45 Keystone Insert (Page 9)
The product image shows a black plastic RJ45 Keystone Insert, designed for terminating network cables. It is shown alongside a white plastic tool, likely the Legrand Punch & Go Tool (AC3400) or a similar 110 punchdown tool used for wire termination.
RJ45 Data/Phone Jack Wiring (Pages 10-11)
These diagrams illustrate the TIA568A wiring standard for terminating Ethernet cables into RJ45 jacks. The process involves:
- Preparation: Stripping the outer jacket of the Ethernet cable and untwisting the wire pairs.
- Wire Placement: Arranging the individual wires according to the TIA568A color code on the corresponding terminals of the RJ45 jack. The color sequence for TIA568A is typically:
- Pin 1: White/Orange
- Pin 2: Orange
- Pin 3: White/Green
- Pin 4: Blue
- Pin 5: White/Blue
- Pin 6: Green
- Pin 7: White/Brown
- Pin 8: Brown
- Termination: Using a punchdown tool to firmly seat each wire into its designated terminal on the jack, ensuring a secure connection and cutting off excess wire. The diagrams show the wires being routed to specific color-coded slots on the jack's internal structure before being punched down.
The diagrams are presented in English, French, and Spanish, detailing the same wiring process for data and telephone connections.
