Before You Begin
Ensure you have the following items as part of the delivery package:
- Router DIR-615
- Power adapter DC 9V/0.6A
- Ethernet cable
- Quick Installation Guide
If any items are missing, please contact your reseller. The full User Manual is available on the D-Link website.
Important Note: Using a power supply with a different voltage rating than the one included will cause damage and void the product warranty.
Default Settings
The router comes with the following default settings:
- Domain name of device: dlinkrouter.local.
- IP address of device: 192.168.0.1
- Username (login): admin
- Password: admin
- Name of wireless network (SSID): DIR-615
- Network key (PSK password): Refer to the WPS PIN on the barcode label on the bottom panel of the device.
To connect to the internet, you will need to set a unique password for the web-based interface and change the WLAN name (SSID). Further configuration may be required based on your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
System Requirements and Equipment
To set up your router, you will need:
- An Android or iPhone mobile device (smartphone or tablet) or a computer with a web browser.
- A compatible web browser, such as:
- Apple Safari 8 and later
- Google Chrome 48 and later
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 10 and later
- Microsoft Edge 20.10240 and later
- Mozilla Firefox 44 and later
- Opera 35 and later
- A Network Interface Card (NIC) (Ethernet or Wi-Fi adapter) to connect to the router.
- An 802.11b, g, or n Wi-Fi adapter to create a wireless network.
Connecting to PC
PC with Ethernet Adapter:
- Connect an Ethernet cable from one of the router's LAN ports to your PC's Ethernet port.
- Connect the power cord to the router and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet or power strip.
Ensure your PC is configured to obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP client).
PC with Wi-Fi Adapter:
- Connect the power cord to the router and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet or power strip.
- Ensure your PC's Wi-Fi adapter is enabled. Refer to your PC's documentation for instructions on enabling the wireless adapter. If using a pluggable wireless NIC, install the provided software.
Confirm that your Wi-Fi adapter is set to obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP client).
Obtaining IP Address Automatically (Windows 7 & 10)
Follow these steps to configure your computer to obtain an IP address automatically:
- Click the Start button and navigate to the Control Panel or Settings window.
- Access the Network and Sharing Center or Network & Internet section.
- Select "Change adapter settings" or "Change your network settings" and then "Change adapter options".
- Right-click on the relevant "Local Area Connection" or "Wireless Network Connection" icon and select "Properties".
- In the "Local Area Connection Properties" or "Wireless Network Connection Properties" window, select the "Networking" tab.
- Choose "Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" and click "Properties".
- Ensure that "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically" are selected. Click "OK".
- If connecting via Wi-Fi, click the "Connect To" button or the network icon in the notification area to select and connect to an available wireless network.
