Flow Cycle Guide
This section illustrates the concept of flow cycling in ventilation.
Diagram Description:
The diagram shows a graph with Pressure (cmH2O) on the vertical axis and Time (sec) on the horizontal axis. A ventilation breath waveform is depicted, starting from a baseline pressure, rising to a peak, and then descending. Two points on the descending phase are marked:
- One point, labeled "Flow Cycle = 90%", indicates the point where the inspiratory flow has decreased to 90% of its peak value.
- Another point, labeled "Flow Cycle = 20%", indicates the point where the inspiratory flow has decreased to 20% of its peak value.
A dashed line segment represents the "Time Cycle", indicating a duration on the time axis. The diagram visually explains how flow cycling terminates inspiration based on a percentage of peak flow.
