1 Overview of the Appliance
This section provides an overview of the Melitta Barista TS Smart coffee machine.
1.1 The Appliance at a Glance
The appliance features the following components:
- 1. Water tank: Holds water for brewing.
- 2. 2-chamber bean container: For storing two types of coffee beans.
- 3. "BEAN SELECT" slider (BARISTA T model only): Allows selection between bean chambers.
- 4. Ground coffee chute: For adding pre-ground coffee.
- 5. Cup tray with stainless steel plate: Supports cups, may vary by model.
- 6. Control panel: Interface for operating the appliance.
- 7. Height-adjustable outlet: Features coffee nozzles, milk nozzles, a hot water nozzle, and cup illumination (on BARISTA TS models).
- 8. Coffee grounds container (inner): Collects used coffee pucks.
- 9. Drip tray: Collects drips and overflow.
- 10. ON/OFF button: Powers the appliance on and off.
- 11. Cover: Protects internal components.
- 12. "Grinding fineness adjustment" lever: Located behind the cover, adjusts grinder fineness.
- 13. Power cable: Connects the appliance to the power supply.
- 14. Brewing unit: The core component for brewing coffee, located behind the cover.
- 15. Milk hose connection at outlet: Connects the milk system to the coffee outlet.
- 16. Milk hose connection to drip tray: Connects the milk hose to the drip tray area.

- 18. Float: Indicates when the drip tray is full.
1.2 The Control Panel at a Glance
The control panel allows operation and selection of various functions:

- 31. Up arrow button: Navigates up in menus or sets STANDARD coffee flavour.
- 32. Down arrow button: Navigates down in menus or sets INTENSE coffee flavour.

- 34. Display: Shows current menus, messages, and status indicators (e.g., "Ready symbol").
2 For Your Safety
Melitta prioritizes user safety. Please read these instructions carefully to avoid personal injury and material damage.
2.1 Proper Use
This appliance is designed for preparing coffee beverages from coffee beans or ground coffee, and for heating milk and water. It is intended for use in private households only. Any other use is considered improper and may lead to injury or damage.
2.2 Danger from Electric Current
A risk of fatal electric shock exists if the appliance or power cable is damaged. Always adhere to the following:
- Never use a damaged power cable.
- Damaged power cables must only be replaced by the manufacturer, their service partner, or qualified personnel.
- Do not open any screwed covers on the appliance housing.
- Operate the appliance only when it is in perfect technical condition.
- Defective appliances must only be repaired by authorized workshops; do not attempt self-repair.
- Do not modify the appliance, its components, or accessories.
- Never immerse the appliance in water.
- Keep the power cable away from water.
2.3 Risk of Burns and Scalds
Escaping fluids and steam can be very hot, as can parts of the appliance. Take precautions:
- Avoid contact between hot fluids/steam and skin.
- Do not touch any nozzles at the outlet during operation.
2.4 General Safety
- Do not operate the appliance inside a cabinet or similar enclosed space.
- Do not reach into the interior of the appliance while it is operating.
- Keep the appliance and its power cable out of reach of children under 8 years of age.
- Children aged 8 and over, and persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience, may use the appliance if supervised or instructed in safe usage and potential risks.
- Children must not play with the appliance. Cleaning and maintenance must not be performed by children under 8. Children over 8 require supervision during these tasks.
- If the appliance is remotely controlled via a mobile terminal, ensure no children are nearby and a cup is placed under the outlet.
- Disconnect the appliance from the power supply when leaving it unsupervised for extended periods.
- The appliance must not be operated at altitudes above 2,000 meters.
- Always follow instructions in the "Care and maintenance" section (page 56).
3 First Steps
This chapter guides you through preparing your appliance for initial use.
3.1 Unpacking the Appliance
[Caution]: Contact with cleaning agents can cause eye and skin irritation. Keep supplied cleaning agents out of children's reach.
Unpack the appliance, removing all packaging material, adhesive strips, and protective films. Retain packaging for transport or returns.
[Information]: The appliance may contain traces of coffee and water from factory testing.
3.2 Checking the Delivery Contents
Verify that all items listed are present. Contact your retailer if any parts are missing:
- Coffee spoon with screw-in aid for the water filter
- Plastic milk container or thermal milk container with milk hose, or just the milk hose (model dependent)
- Stainless steel plate for cup tray (model dependent)
- Coffee system cleaning agent
- Milk system cleaning agent
- Water filter
- Test strip for determining water hardness
3.3 Installing the Appliance
Follow these installation guidelines:
- Do not install in damp rooms.
- Place on a stable, flat, and dry surface.
- Avoid installation near sinks or similar water sources.
- Do not place on hot surfaces.
- Ensure a clearance of approximately 10 cm from walls and other objects, and at least 20 cm of space above the appliance.
- Route the power cable to prevent damage from edges or hot surfaces.
3.4 Connecting the Appliance
- Verify that the supply voltage matches the appliance's operating voltage (see Technical Data, page 62).
- Connect only to a properly installed, earthed socket. Consult a qualified electrician if unsure.
- The socket must be fused for at least 10 A.
3.5 Switching on the Appliance for the First Time
During the initial startup, you will set the language, time, and water hardness. These settings can be adjusted later (see Chapter 8 and Section 9.8).
Use the provided test strip to determine water hardness, following the instructions on its packaging and in the "Water hardness range" table (page 62).
[Information]: It is recommended to discard the first two cups of coffee after initial startup.
Requirement: Appliance installed and connected.
- Place a vessel under the outlet.
- Press the ON/OFF button. The welcome display appears.
- The appliance prompts for setup: "Please set up the machine." The "menu/ok" button flashes.
- Confirm by pressing "menu/ok". The Language menu appears.
- Use the arrow buttons to select your language and confirm with "menu/ok". The Clock menu appears.
- Set the hour and minutes using the arrow buttons, confirming each with "menu/ok". The Water hardness menu appears.
- Select the water hardness range using the arrow buttons or confirm the default value with "menu/ok". The prompt "Please refill and insert water tank" appears.
- Remove, rinse, and refill the water tank with fresh water. Insert the new water filter if applicable (see Section 9.9).
- Insert the refilled water tank. The appliance heats up and performs automatic rinsing. The "Ready symbol" and "Fill beans" prompt appear.
- Fill the bean container with coffee beans (refer to Section 4.5).
3.6 Installing the Melitta-Connect-App
The appliance can be controlled via Bluetooth using compatible iOS and Android mobile devices. Download the Melitta-Connect-App from your device's app store. The app simplifies operation, manages settings and user profiles, and provides access to Smart Service features. "Smartphone" refers to both smartphones and tablets.
Downloading the App:
- Search for "Melitta-Connect-App" in your smartphone's app store.
- Install the app.
4 Basic Operation
This chapter covers the essential daily operations of the appliance.
4.1 Switching the Appliance On and Off
The appliance performs automatic rinsing when switched on and off. Rinsing water is directed to the drip tray. Automatic switch-off rinsing can be enabled or disabled in the Settings menu.
Switching on: Place a vessel under the outlet and press the ON/OFF button. The appliance heats up, performs rinsing, and is ready.
Switching off: Place a vessel under the outlet and press the ON/OFF button. The appliance performs rinsing and then switches off.
[Information]: The appliance may switch off automatically after a period of inactivity, performing rinsing. The Auto OFF time can be set (Section 8.5). No rinsing occurs if no beverage has been prepared or the water tank is empty.
4.2 Using the Control Panel
Operate the control panel with a fingertip; pens or other objects will not register. Only relevant buttons illuminate.
- Brief press: Selects a function.
- Long press (over 2 seconds): Selects a secondary function if available.
- Pressing "+" or "-": Increases or decreases a value. Holding the button changes the value continuously.
- Pressing the slider: Selects a value.
- Pulling the slider: Increases or reduces the current value.
4.3 Navigating in the Menu
Access menus using the "menu/ok" button (long press to open, brief press to confirm). Use the arrow buttons (V, Λ) to navigate. Use the "Exit" command to leave menus.
Submenus are accessed sequentially. For example, to navigate to "Descaling": Menu > Care > Descaling.
4.4 Establishing the Bluetooth Connection
A Bluetooth connection is required for smartphone operation.
Connecting for the first time:
Requirements: Appliance on, Melitta-Connect-App installed and open, smartphone in range (5-10m), Bluetooth enabled on smartphone, appliance not connected to another smartphone.
- On the appliance, press "menu/ok" for 2 seconds.
- Navigate to "Bluetooth" and confirm.
- Select "Connect on appliance".
- Select "Connect on Smartphone" and follow app instructions. The appliance connects.
- Select "Exit" to leave the menu.
[Information]: If connection fails within 1 minute, the appliance returns to standby. Only one user can connect at a time; disconnect the previous user by closing the app. Resetting to factory settings deletes Bluetooth connections.
Re-connecting: Open the app on the smartphone; the appliance automatically connects via Bluetooth.
4.5 Filling with Coffee Beans and Using Bean Select
Store only enough beans for 3-4 days to preserve aroma. The 2-chamber container allows using two different bean types.
[Attention]: Do not use freeze-dried or caramelised coffee beans, as they can clog the grinder. Do not add ground coffee to the bean container.
Bean Chamber Assignment:
- Chamber 1 (35): Espresso, cappuccino, latte macchiato.
- Chamber 2 (36): Café crème.
[Information]: The grinder empties during each process, but minor mixing of bean types may occur. Grinding when empty produces a different noise, which is normal.
Manual Bean Select (BARISTA T): Use the "Bean Select" slider (3) to switch between bean chambers (2).
Auto Bean Select (BARISTA TS): Automatically selects beans for specific beverages. Chamber 1 for espresso-based, Chamber 2 for café crème. Settings can be changed (Section 6.2).
[Caution]: Switching bean chambers may result in the first few beverages containing traces of the previous bean type, potentially affecting caffeine-sensitive individuals.
[Information]: When the slider is centered, no beans enter the grinder.
4.6 Using Ground Coffee
Use up to one coffee spoon of ground coffee in the chute. Two-cup dispensing is not possible. If the chute is unused for 3 minutes, the appliance reverts to using beans.
[Attention]: Unsuitable ground coffee can clog the brewing unit. Do not use instant products.
4.7 Filling with Water
Use fresh, cold, non-carbonated water for optimal taste. Change water daily.
[Information]: Water quality significantly impacts coffee flavour. Consider using a water filter (Sections 9.8, 9.9).
- Open the water tank lid and pull the tank upwards.
- Fill with fresh water (max. 1.8 litres).
- Insert the tank and close the lid.
4.8 Adjusting the Outlet
The height-adjustable outlet (7) allows setting the distance between the outlet and the vessel.
4.9 Using Milk
Use cooled milk. The appliance can use the enclosed milk container or a milk hose with conventional milk packs.
Connecting the milk container: Fill only the amount of milk to be used immediately. Connect the milk hose (37) to the container and the outlet connection (15).
Connecting the milk hose: Push down the outlet (7). Connect the milk hose (37) to the outlet connection (15). Insert the other end into a conventional milk pack (39).
[Information]: Store the filled milk container in the refrigerator.
4.10 Emptying the Drip Tray and Coffee Grounds Container
The appliance will prompt when the drip tray (9) and coffee grounds container (8) are full. The float (18) also indicates a full drip tray. Empty both containers.
5 Preparing Beverages
Three methods are available: Standard dispensing, modified settings, and personal "My Coffee" settings.
5.1 Preparing Espresso and Café Crème
- Place a vessel under the outlet.
- Press the "Espresso" or "Café Crème" button.
- Remove the vessel once dispensing is complete.
5.2 Preparing Cappuccino and Latte Macchiato
Requirement: Milk system connected.
- Place a vessel under the outlet.
- Press the "Cappuccino" or "Latte Macchiato" button. The appliance will prompt "Easy Cleaning? (OK for start)".
- Remove the vessel.
- Run the "Easy Cleaning" programme or prepare another beverage first (see Section 9.4).
5.3 Preparing Milk Froth and Warm Milk
Requirement: Milk system connected.
- Place a vessel under the outlet.
- Press the "Milk froth/milk" button: briefly press for milk froth, press for 2 seconds for warm milk.
- Milk dispensing begins. The appliance will prompt "Easy Cleaning? (OK for start)".
- Remove the vessel.
- Run the "Easy Cleaning" programme or prepare another beverage first (see Section 9.4).
5.4 Preparing Hot Water
- Place a vessel under the outlet.
- Press the "Hot water" button.
- Remove the vessel once dispensing is complete.
5.5 Preparing Beverages with Recipes (BARISTA TS model only)
Requirement: Appliance ready, milk connected if required.
Recipes can be accessed via the "My Coffee/Recipes" button. Press until "Recipes" profile appears and confirm with "menu/ok". Alternatively, press the button for 2 seconds to access recipes directly.
Select a recipe (e.g., Lungo) using the arrow buttons and confirm with "menu/ok".
[Information]: Recipe selections remain valid until changed. For BARISTA TS, recipes can also be selected directly via the "My Coffee/Recipes" button (Section 5.5).
5.6 Changing Beverage Settings Before and During Preparation
Settings like bean type, beverage quantity, coffee strength, and flavour can be adjusted before or during preparation. These apply only to the current preparation.
[Information]: "Intense" aroma setting increases brewing time for a more intense flavour.
Use the "BEAN SELECT" button/slider to choose beans. Use the "Beverage quantity" slider and "Coffee strength" slider to adjust settings.
Changing settings during preparation: Use the "Beverage quantity" slider for beverage amount and the "Coffee strength" slider for coffee strength during dispensing or grinding.
5.7 Stopping Beverage Preparation
Press the selected direct key again to stop preparation prematurely.
5.8 Preparing Two Beverages Simultaneously
Use the "2 cups" button (26) to prepare two beverages at once. This is not possible for all beverage types. The appliance performs two grinding processes.
- Place two vessels under the outlet (7).
- Press the "2 cups" button (26).
- Proceed as for the relevant beverage preparation.
[Information]: This setting applies only to the next beverage preparation. If no beverage is prepared within 1 minute, it reverts to single-cup dispensing.
6 Permanently Changing Beverage Settings
Customize default recipes or permanently change beverage settings.
6.1 Selecting Recipes
Direct keys can be assigned to stored recipes. Available recipes include various types of Espresso (Ristretto, Lungo, etc.) and Café crème (Americano, Long Black, etc.). Some recipes marked with * are exclusive to the BARISTA TS model.
Recipe selection is similar for all beverages. Example: selecting Ristretto.
Requirement: Appliance ready.
- Press "menu/ok" for 2 seconds.
- Navigate: Direct keys > Espresso > Recipes.
- Select "Ristretto" and confirm with "menu/ok".
- Exit menus. The appliance is ready. The Ristretto recipe will be used for subsequent espressos.
6.2 Changing Default Settings
Default settings for coffee amount, froth, milk, hot water, temperature, bean type (BARISTA TS only), coffee strength, and flavour can be changed.
Example: Changing coffee strength for an Espresso.
Requirement: Appliance ready.
- Press "menu/ok" for 2 seconds.
- Navigate: Direct keys > Espresso > Coffee strength.
- Select desired strength and confirm with "menu/ok".
- Exit menus. The selected strength will be used for the next espresso.
[Information]: Default settings remain until manually changed.
7 Personal Settings – "My Coffee"
The "My Coffee" function allows saving personalized beverage settings and assigning them to users (up to 4 on BARISTA T, 8 on BARISTA TS).
7.1 Editing Personal User Profiles
Changing user profile name:
- Press "menu/ok" for 2 seconds.
- Navigate: My Coffee.
- Select a user and confirm.
- Select "Change name" and confirm.
- Use arrow buttons to select characters and confirm each with "menu/ok".
- Exit menus.
Activating/Deactivating a user profile:
- Press "menu/ok" for 2 seconds.
- Navigate: My Coffee.
- Select a user and confirm.
- Select "Enabled/disabled" and confirm.
- Choose "Enabled" or "Disabled" and confirm.
- Exit menus.
7.2 Selecting/Changing Personal Settings
Assign settings like recipes, coffee amount, froth, milk, hot water, temperature, bean type, coffee strength, and flavour to a user.
Example: Setting coffee amount for a Cappuccino.
Requirement: Appliance ready.
- Press "menu/ok" for 2 seconds.
- Navigate: My Coffee.
- Select a user and confirm.
- Navigate: Cappuccino > Coffee amount.
- Select desired amount and confirm with "menu/ok".
- Exit menus. The selected amount will be used for this user's next cappuccino.
7.3 Preparing Beverages with Personal Settings
Requirement: "Ready symbol" displayed, milk connected.
- Place a vessel under the outlet.
- Press the "My Coffee" button until the desired user is shown.
- Press the "Cappuccino" button. Beverage dispensing starts and ends automatically.
- Remove the vessel. The appliance may prompt for "Easy Cleaning".
- Execute "Easy Cleaning" or prepare further beverages.
8 Changing Basic Settings
This chapter details how to adjust the appliance's fundamental settings.
8.1 Setting the Language
Select the desired display language.
Requirement: Appliance ready.
- Press "menu/ok" for 2 seconds.
- Navigate: Settings > Language.
- Select language and confirm with "menu/ok".
- Exit menu.
8.2 Setting the Time
Set the current time.
Requirement: Appliance ready.
- Press "menu/ok" for 2 seconds.
- Navigate: Settings > Clock.
- Set hours and minutes using arrow buttons, confirming each with "menu/ok".
- Exit menu.
[Information]: Set time to 00:00 to hide the time display.
8.3 Activating/Deactivating Auto Bean Select (BARISTA TS model only)
Enable or disable the automatic selection of bean types.
Requirement: Appliance ready.
- Press "menu/ok" for 2 seconds.
- Navigate: Settings > Auto Bean Select.
- Select "Enabled" or "Disabled" and confirm with "menu/ok".
- Exit menu.
8.4 Setting Energy Save Mode
Energy save mode reduces heating temperature and panel illumination. The "menu/ok" button remains lit. The appliance automatically enters this mode after inactivity.
Requirement: Appliance ready.
- Press "menu/ok" for 2 seconds.
- Navigate: Energy save mode.
- Select a time period and confirm with "menu/ok".
- Exit menu.
[Information]: Energy save mode can only be exited by pressing "menu/ok". It cannot be fully deactivated; the appliance enters it after 4 hours of inactivity at the latest.
8.5 Setting Auto OFF
The appliance switches off automatically after a set time of inactivity. You can set a duration or a specific time for this.
[Information]: If both duration and time are set, the appliance switches off upon the first event.
Setting duration: Navigate: Auto OFF > OFF after... Select time and confirm.
Setting specific time: Navigate: Auto OFF > OFF at... Set hours and minutes, confirm each. Set to 00:00 to deactivate.
8.6 Activating/Deactivating Rinsing
Switch-off rinsing can be activated or deactivated. It performs rinsing after the coffee system is switched off.
8.7 Resetting the Appliance to the Factory Settings
This resets all settings, including "My Coffee" profiles.
Requirement: Appliance ready.
- Press "menu/ok" for 2 seconds.
- Navigate: Settings > Factory settings.
- Select "Reset" and confirm with "menu/ok".
- Exit menu.
8.8 Statistics and System Menu
Statistics: Provides information on beverage dispensing and maintenance.
System: Offers software version details and access to the Venting function (Section 10.1).
8.9 Setting the Grinding Fineness
Grinding fineness affects coffee flavour. The factory setting is optimal.
To adjust:
- Open the cover (11).
- Move the lever (12) forwards (finer) or backwards (coarser).
- Close the cover.
[Information]: Finer grinding results in stronger flavour. Optimal fineness provides even flow and fine crema.
8.10 Converting the Connection for the Milk Hose (depending on the model)
The milk hose can be connected to the left or right side of the spout.
To convert:
- Disconnect the milk hose.
- Push the outlet (7) down.
- Press the locking mechanism (43) of the milk unit (40) and pull it down.
- Pull the milk distributor (41) upwards.
- Turn the inlet (42) by 180°.
- Reassemble in reverse order, ensuring the locking mechanism (43) engages audibly.
9 Care and Maintenance
Regular care ensures consistent beverage quality.
9.1 General Cleaning
Clean the appliance regularly. Wipe away milk and coffee soiling immediately.
[Attention]: Use only soft cloths and mild cleaning agents to avoid scratching surfaces.
Requirement: Appliance switched off.
- Clean the exterior with a soft, damp cloth and mild washing-up liquid.
- Rinse the drip tray and coffee grounds container with a soft, damp cloth and mild washing-up liquid.
- Clean the bean container with a soft, dry cloth.
9.2 Rinsing the Coffee System
This process rinses the outlet nozzles and internal coffee system parts. Rinsing water goes into the drip tray. Switch-off rinsing can be activated/deactivated. Rinsing can also be performed manually.
To rinse manually:
- Place a vessel under the outlet.
- Press "menu/ok" for 2 seconds.
- Navigate: Care > Rinsing.
- Select "Start" and confirm with "menu/ok".
9.3 Cleaning the Brewing Unit
Cleaning the brewing unit weekly is recommended.
Requirement: Appliance switched off.
- Open the cover (11).
- Press and hold the red lever (44) on the brewing unit handle (14) and turn clockwise until it locks.
- Pull the brewing unit out by the handle.
- Rinse the brewing unit thoroughly under running water, ensuring coffee residues are removed from the sieve (45).
- Allow the brewing unit to drip dry.
- Wipe internal surfaces with a soft, dry cloth.
- Reinsert the brewing unit, holding the lever (44) and turning the handle counter-clockwise until it locks.
- Close the cover.
9.4 "Easy Cleaning" Programme
This programme rinses the milk system. The appliance prompts for it after preparing milk beverages. It can also be run manually.
To run manually:
- Place a vessel (at least 0.7 litres) under the outlet.
- Press "menu/ok" for 2 seconds.
- Navigate: Care > Easy Cleaning.
- Select "Start" and confirm with "menu/ok". Follow on-screen prompts.
9.5 "Cleaning Milk System" Programme
This programme cleans the milk system using a special cleaning agent. Perform weekly for hygiene and to prevent damage.
Requirement: Appliance ready.
- Place a vessel (at least 0.7 litres) under the outlet.
- Press "menu/ok" for 2 seconds.
- Navigate: Care > Cleaning milk system.
- Select "Start" and confirm with "menu/ok". Follow on-screen prompts.
Cleaning the milk unit: Regularly clean the milk unit, hose, and container. The plastic milk container (model dependent) is dishwasher-safe (without lid and riser pipe). Thermal milk containers are not dishwasher-safe.
To remove the milk unit: Pull the milk hose off. Push the outlet (7) down. Press the milk unit's locking mechanism (43) and pull it down. Pull the milk distributor (41) upwards. Pull the inlet (42) upwards. Clean parts with warm water and mild detergent. Reassemble in reverse order.
9.6 "Cleaning Coffee System" Programme
Removes coffee oil residues using cleaning agents. Recommended every 2 months or as prompted.
[Attention]: Use only Melitta® PERFECT CLEAN cleaning tabs.
Requirement: Appliance ready.
- Press "menu/ok" for 2 seconds.
- Navigate: Care > Cleaning coffee system.
- Select "Start" and confirm with "menu/ok". Follow on-screen prompts.
The programme takes approximately 15 minutes and should not be interrupted.
9.7 "Descaling" Programme
Removes limescale deposits using descaling agents. Recommended every 3 months or as prompted. With a water filter, descale at least annually.
[Caution]: Descaling agent can irritate eyes and skin. Observe product instructions.
[Attention]: Unsuitable descaling agents can damage the appliance. Use only Melitta® ANTI CALC liquid descaling agent.
[Attention]: A water filter may be damaged during descaling. Remove it when prompted (Fig. 25). Place the filter in water during descaling and reinsert afterwards.
Requirement: Appliance ready.
- Press "menu/ok" for 2 seconds.
- Navigate: Care > Descaling.
- Select "Start" and confirm with "menu/ok". Follow on-screen prompts.

9.8 Setting the Water Hardness
Water hardness affects descaling frequency. It cannot be set if a water filter is used (Section 9.9).
Determine water hardness using the test strip and consult the "Water hardness range" table (page 62).
Requirement: Appliance ready.
- Press "menu/ok" for 2 seconds.
- Navigate: Settings > Water hardness.
- Select the water hardness range and confirm with "menu/ok".
- Exit menu.
9.9 Using a Water Filter
A water filter extends appliance life and reduces descaling frequency by filtering calcium and other pollutants.
Inserting the water filter:
[Information]: Soak the filter in fresh tap water for a few minutes before inserting.
Requirement: Appliance ready.
- Press "menu/ok" for 2 seconds.
- Navigate: Care > Filter > Insert filter.
- Select "Start" and confirm with "menu/ok". Follow on-screen prompts. The appliance automatically adjusts water hardness.
Changing the water filter: Change when prompted by the appliance.
Requirement: Appliance ready.
- Press "menu/ok" for 2 seconds.
- Navigate: Care > Filter > Change filter.
- Select "Start" and confirm with "menu/ok". Follow on-screen prompts.
Removing the water filter: Do not leave the filter dry for long periods. Store in tap water in the refrigerator if not used for a while.
Requirement: Appliance ready.
- Press "menu/ok" for 2 seconds.
- Navigate: Care > Filter > Remove filter.
- Select "Start" and confirm with "menu/ok". Follow on-screen prompts. The water hardness resets to the previous setting.
10 Transport, Storage and Disposal
10.1 Venting the Appliance
Recommended when not used for a long period, before transport, or to prevent frost damage. This process removes residual water.
Requirement: Appliance ready.
- Place a vessel under the outlet.
- Press "menu/ok" for 2 seconds.
- Navigate: System > Venting.
- Select "Start" and confirm with "menu/ok". Follow on-screen prompts. The appliance switches off.
10.2 Transporting the Appliance
[Attention]: Freezing residual water can damage the appliance. Protect from temperatures below 0°C.
[Information]: Transport in original packaging to prevent transit damage.
Before transporting: Vent the appliance (Section 10.1), empty drip tray, grounds container, water tank, and bean container. Clean the appliance (Section 9.1). Secure loose parts (e.g., cup plate) with tape. Package the appliance.
10.3 Disposing of the Appliance
Appliances marked with the WEEE symbol (crossed-out wheeled bin) should be disposed of environmentally friendly via collection systems, not with household waste.
