Electric Parking Brake (EPB)

The parking brake operates on the rear wheels. Therefore, the reliability of the parking brake depends on the hardness and stability of the surface on which the rear wheels are resting.

Do not rely on the effective operation of the parking brake if the rear wheels have been immersed in liquid mud or water.

Note: After driving in challenging off-road conditions (such as marshy terrain, deep mud, etc.), additional servicing and adjustment of the parking brake may be required. Contact your Land Rover dealer or an authorized Land Rover service center.

To disengage the EPB: With the ignition on, press the brake pedal and press the EPB switch.

To engage the EPB: With the vehicle stationary, pull the EPB switch upwards and release it. The parking brake warning light will illuminate, indicating that the parking brake is engaged.

If the EPB is engaged while the vehicle is moving at less than 3 km/h (2 mph), the vehicle will stop abruptly. The stop lights will not illuminate.

Caution: Driving with the parking brake engaged or repeatedly using the parking brake for deceleration may cause significant damage to the braking system.

In an emergency situation while driving at speeds above 3 km/h (2 mph), if you pull up the EPB switch and hold it in that position, the vehicle will gradually slow down. The brake system warning light will illuminate, an audible signal will sound, and a warning message will appear on the information display. The stop lights will illuminate.

If the vehicle is stationary, the EPB is engaged, and the selector lever is in 'D' (Drive) or 'R' (Reverse), the EPB will disengage when the accelerator pedal is pressed, allowing the vehicle to move off.

Note: Automatic EPB disengagement is only possible if the driver's door is closed and the driver's seatbelt is fastened.

The parking brake system will gradually reduce the braking force, allowing for a smooth start. If the system's reduction of braking force causes the vehicle to move after selecting a gear, the parking brake will re-engage with full force. To cancel the EPB reduction function, manually engage the parking brake after selecting a gear.

At the start of a journey, the EPB disengagement time may increase when shifting from 'P' or 'N'. This is because it takes slightly longer to engage the required gear.

If the system detects an EPB malfunction, the amber brake system warning light will illuminate, and a message will be displayed on the information panel.

If the system detects a malfunction while the EPB is operating, the red parking brake warning light will flash, and a corresponding message will appear on the information panel.

Note: The red parking brake warning light will remain illuminated for at least ten seconds after the ignition is switched off.
