About Microwave Cooking

Materials You Cannot Use in a Microwave: Metal containers, skewers, clamps, or twist ties can cause arcing (sparking/electric flash) which can damage the oven or cause fire. Use "microwave-safe" plastics only as recommended by the manufacturer. Do not microwave empty cups or containers. Do not permit children to use plastic cookware unsupervised.

Materials You Can Use in a Microwave / Cookware: Many existing cookware pieces can be used. Always use oven mitts or pot holders as cookware can become hot.

Material / Container Test:

  1. Fill a "microwave-safe" container with 1 cup of cold water and the material to test.
  2. Cook on maximum power for 30 seconds.
  3. Carefully feel the material/container. If warm, DO NOT use it.
  4. Do not exceed 1 minute cooking time for this test.
  5. Take precautions when testing.
  6. Do not allow children to conduct this test.

Cookware and Cooking Materials: Materials MUST fit on the turntable. Always use oven mitts or pot holders.

Understanding Your Oven:

  • Do not use without turntable and support.
  • Always have food in the oven when it is on.
  • Magnetron may cycle on/off at lower power levels.
  • Exterior may be warm; condensation is normal.
  • Convection microwaves become hot after use.
  • Use only for food preparation; do not dry clothes or newspapers.
  • Wattage: 1000 watts (IEC Test Procedure).
  • Check food before minimum time and add time if needed.
