Cardo PACKTALK EDGE Pocket Guide

Introduction

This pocket guide provides essential instructions for operating your Cardo PACKTALK EDGE communication system. Learn about basic functions, app usage, and advanced features for an enhanced riding experience. The PACKTALK EDGE features Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, sound by JBL, Dynamic Mesh Communication (DMC), and is operated by Natural Voice commands.

Getting Started

Device Overview

  • Media Button: Controls music and radio functions.
  • Mobile Button: Manages phone calls and mobile device interactions.
  • Control Wheel: Adjusts volume and navigates menus.
  • Intercom Button: Manages intercom communications.
  • LED Indicator: Displays device status (e.g., pairing, charging).
  • USB Charging Port: For charging the device.

Basic Interactions

  • Long Press (2 seconds): Hold a button for 2 seconds.
  • Tap (x1): Press and release a button quickly once.

Power On/Off

To power on or off, long press (2 seconds) both the Media Button and Mobile Button simultaneously.

Smartphone Pairing

To pair your smartphone, long press (5 seconds) the Mobile Button. The LED indicator will flash red and blue, indicating pairing mode. On your smartphone, navigate to Bluetooth settings and select "PACKTALK EDGE" to connect.

Cardo Connect App

The Cardo Connect App enhances your PACKTALK EDGE experience, allowing for easy control and customization.

Download the App

Download the Cardo Connect App from the App Store for iOS devices or Google Play for Android devices.

App Features

  • Registration: Create an account using your email, first name, and last name.
  • Language Selection: Choose your preferred unit language from options including English, Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Italian, Portuguese, and Hebrew.
  • Software Update: Receive notifications and install new software versions for your unit directly through the app.

Basic Operations

Volume Control

  • Volume Up: Rotate the Control Wheel upwards.
  • Volume Down: Rotate the Control Wheel downwards.

Microphone Mute/Unmute

To mute or unmute the microphone, tap (x1) the Media Button.

Voice Assistant

To activate your smartphone's voice assistant (Siri or Google Assistant), tap (x1) the Mobile Button.

Radio

Preset Settings

Manage and set radio presets directly through the Cardo Connect App's FM Radio section.

Radio On/Off

  • Turn On Radio: Tap (x2) the Media Button.
  • Turn Off Radio: Tap (x1) the Media Button.

Navigation & Scanning

  • Next Preset: Tap (x1) the Media Button.
  • Previous Preset: Tap (x2) the Media Button.
  • Start Scan: Tap (x3) the Media Button.
  • Stop Scan: Tap (x1) the Mobile Button.

Music

Music Playback Control

  • Play Music: Tap (x1) the Media Button.
  • Pause Music: Tap (x1) the Control Wheel.
  • Next Track: Tap (x1) the Media Button.
  • Previous Track: Tap (x2) the Media Button.

Switching Sources

  • Switch from Music to Radio: Long press (2 seconds) the Media Button.
  • Switch from Radio to Music: Long press (2 seconds) the Mobile Button.

Phone

Call Management

  • Answer Call: Tap (x1) the Mobile Button.
  • Ignore Call: Rotate the Control Wheel downwards.
  • End Call: Tap (x1) the Mobile Button.
  • Redial Last Number: Long press (2 seconds) the Mobile Button.

Speed Dial

Set up speed dial numbers through the Cardo Connect App's Phone section. Once set, you can make a call using speed dial by tapping (x2) the Mobile Button.

DMC Intercom

Group Creation

To create a DMC group, long press (5 seconds) the Intercom Button. The LED indicator will flash red and green. Upon successful group creation, the LED will turn purple.

Group Mute/Unmute

To mute or unmute the DMC group, long press (2 seconds) the Intercom Button.

Share Call

To share a phone call with your DMC group, long press (2 seconds) the Mobile Button.

Advanced Features

Music Sharing

To set up a music sharing partner, use the Cardo Connect App. Navigate to the Intercom section, select "Music Sharing," and follow the on-screen prompts to pair with another unit. Both units should be in pairing mode.

To start or stop music sharing, long press (2 seconds) the Media Button.

DMC Intercom (Advanced)

Private Chat Setup: Configure private chat partners via the Cardo Connect App's Intercom section.

To initiate a private chat, tap (x2) the Intercom Button.

Add Passenger via Bluetooth: Use the Cardo Connect App to add a passenger via Bluetooth. Navigate to the Intercom section and follow the pairing instructions.

To start or stop passenger intercom, tap (x3) the Intercom Button.

GPS Pairing

  1. Long press (5 seconds) the Intercom Button. The LED indicator will flash red and blue.
  2. Tap (x1) the Mobile Button. The LED indicator will flash red and green.
  3. On your GPS device, navigate to Bluetooth settings and select "PACKTALK EDGE" to connect.

Universal Bluetooth Intercom

Pairing: Pair with a universal Bluetooth intercom unit using the Cardo Connect App. Go to the Intercom section and follow the pairing instructions. Both units should be in pairing mode.

  • Start/Stop Intercom (Rider A): Tap (x1) the Intercom Button.
  • Start/Stop Intercom (Rider B): Tap (x2) the Intercom Button.

Restart / Factory Reset

  • Restart Device: Long press (10 seconds) the Media Button and Mobile Button simultaneously.
  • Factory Reset: Long press (10 seconds) the Media Button, Mobile Button, and Intercom Button simultaneously. This will restore the device to its original factory settings.

Voice Commands - Always On!

The Cardo PACKTALK EDGE supports always-on voice commands for hands-free operation. Simply say "Hey Cardo" followed by the command.

  • Phone Commands:
    • Answer call: "Hey Cardo Answer"
    • Ignore call: "Hey Cardo Ignore"
    • End call: "Hey Cardo End Call"
    • Speed dial: "Hey Cardo Speed Dial"
    • Redial: "Hey Cardo Redial"
  • Music Commands:
    • Play music: "Hey Cardo Music"
    • Turn off music: "Hey Cardo Music Off"
    • Next track: "Hey Cardo Next"
    • Previous track: "Hey Cardo Previous"
    • Music share: "Hey Cardo Music Share"
  • Radio Commands:
    • Turn on radio: "Hey Cardo Radio"
    • Turn off radio: "Hey Cardo Radio Off"
    • Next preset: "Hey Cardo Next"
    • Previous preset: "Hey Cardo Previous"
  • Bluetooth Intercom Commands (Bluetooth Intercom only):
    • Start intercom: "Hey Cardo Intercom"
    • End intercom: "Hey Cardo End Intercom"
  • Voice Assistant Commands:
    • Activate Siri: "Hey Siri"
    • Activate Google Assistant: "Okay Google"
  • Volume & Microphone Commands:
    • Volume up: "Hey Cardo Volume Up"
    • Volume down: "Hey Cardo Volume Down"
    • Mute: "Hey Cardo Mute"
    • Mute off: "Hey Cardo Mute Off"
    • Mute microphone: "Hey Cardo Mute Microphone"
    • Unmute microphone: "Hey Cardo Unmute Microphone"
  • Battery Command:
    • Check battery status: "Hey Cardo Battery"
