Cardo PACKTALK EDGE Pocket Guide

Introduction

This pocket guide provides essential instructions for operating your Cardo PACKTALK EDGE communication system. It features sound by JBL, Dynamic Mesh Communication (DMC), and is operated by Natural Voice commands.

Cardo Connect App

The Cardo Connect App enhances your device experience, allowing for easy control and customization. It is available for download on the App Store and Google Play.

App Features Overview:

• Riding Mode: Quick access to essential functions while riding.
• Phone: Manage calls directly from the app.
• Intercom: Control DMC and Bluetooth intercom connections.
• Music: Play and manage your music.
• FM Radio: Tune and manage FM radio stations.
• Settings: Access various device settings including:
  • Audio settings and profiles (Standard)
  • Language & Display (Unit language: English (United States), Day/night view: Auto switch)
  • FM Radio (RDS, FM band: Worldwide)

App Functions:

• Register: Create an account to manage your device.
• Choose Language: Select your preferred language for the app interface.
• Update Software: Easily update your unit's firmware to the latest version.

Getting Started & General Operations

Device Components:

• Media Button: Controls music and radio functions.
• Mobile Button: Manages phone calls and voice assistants.
• Control Wheel: Adjusts volume and navigates menus.
• Intercom Button: Manages intercom communications.
• LED Indicator: Provides visual feedback on device status.
• USB Charging Port: For charging the device.

Basic Operations:

• On / Off

  Action: Press and Hold the Media Button and Control Wheel for 2 seconds.

• Phone Pairing

  Action: Press and Hold the Mobile Button for 5 seconds. The LED indicator will flash Red & Blue.

• Volume Up

  Action: Rotate the Control Wheel upwards.

• Volume Down

  Action: Rotate the Control Wheel downwards.

• Mute / Unmute Microphone

  Action: Tap the Media Button 1 time.

• Voice Assistant (Hey Siri / Google Assistant)

  Action: Tap the Mobile Button 1 time.

Radio

Set Presets:

Presets are managed via the Cardo Connect App.

Radio On / Off:

• Radio On

  Action: Tap the Media Button 2 times.

• Radio Off

  Action: Tap the Media Button 1 time.

Navigate Presets:

• Next Preset

  Action: Tap the Control Wheel 1 time.

• Previous Preset

  Action: Tap the Control Wheel 2 times.

Scan Radio Stations:

• Start Scan

  Action: Tap the Media Button 3 times.

• Stop Scan

  Action: Tap the Media Button 1 time.

Music

Music On / Off:

• Music On

  Action: Tap the Mobile Button 1 time.

• Music Off

  Action: Tap the Mobile Button 1 time.

Navigate Tracks:

• Next Track

  Action: Tap the Control Wheel 1 time.

• Previous Track

  Action: Tap the Control Wheel 2 times.

Switch Source

• Music to Radio

  Action: Press and Hold the Media Button for 2 seconds.

• Radio to Music

  Action: Press and Hold the Mobile Button for 2 seconds.

Phone Call

• Answer Call

  Action: Tap the Control Wheel 1 time.

• Ignore Call

  Action: Press and Hold the Control Wheel for 2 seconds.

• End Call

  Action: Tap the Control Wheel 1 time.

• Redial

  Action: Press and Hold the Mobile Button for 2 seconds.

Advanced Phone Features:

• Set Speed Dial

  Speed dial numbers are set via the Cardo Connect App.

• Call Speed Dial

  Action: Tap the Mobile Button 2 times.

DMC Intercom

Grouping:

Action: Press and Hold the Intercom Button for 5 seconds. The LED indicator will flash Red & Green. Upon successful grouping, the LED will turn Purple.

Mute / Unmute Group:

Action: Press and Hold the Intercom Button for 2 seconds.

Share Call:

Action: Press and Hold the Mobile Button for 2 seconds.

Advanced DMC Features:

• Set Private Chat Partner

  Private chat partners are set via the Cardo Connect App.

• Start / Stop Private Chat

  Action: Tap the Intercom Button 2 times.

• Add Bluetooth Passenger

  Bluetooth passengers are added via the Cardo Connect App.

• Start / Stop Passenger Intercom

  Action: Tap the Intercom Button 3 times.

GPS Pairing

• Step 1

  Action: Press and Hold the Intercom Button for 5 seconds. The LED indicator will flash Red & Blue.

• Step 2

  Action: Tap the Intercom Button 1 time. The LED indicator will flash Red & Green.

• Step 3

  Connect to "PACKTALK EDGE" in your phone's Bluetooth settings.

Universal Bluetooth Intercom

Bluetooth Intercom Pairing:

Pairing is initiated via the Cardo Connect App.

Start / Stop Intercom:

• Rider A

  Action: Tap the Intercom Button 1 time.

• Rider B

  Action: Tap the Intercom Button 2 times.

Reboot & Factory Reset

• Reboot

  Action: Press and Hold the Media Button and Control Wheel for 10 seconds.

• Factory Reset

  Action: Press and Hold the Media Button and Mobile Button for 10 seconds.

Voice Commands - Always On!

The Cardo PACKTALK EDGE supports voice commands in multiple languages, including English, German, French, and Italian. Simply say "Hey Cardo" followed by the command (or "Ciao Cardo" for Italian).

Phone Commands:

• "Answer"
• "Ignore"
• "Hey Cardo, end call"

Music Commands:
