xTool D1 Laser Engraver: Assembly and Operation Guide
Important Safety Precautions
Warning: Failure to follow instructions may result in physical injury or damage to the machine.
Laser Safety: The xTool D1 has no protective cover. Avoid touching the laser during operation. Do not engrave or cut materials containing PVC or vinyl, as they can release harmful corrosive vapor. Avoid engraving or cutting unknown materials due to potentially harmful smoke.
Fire Safety: Most materials are flammable. Ensure the workspace is well-ventilated. Do not stack flammable materials near the machine. Clean the machine regularly to prevent residue buildup, which can increase fire risk. Keep the area around the machine clear of flammable materials, explosives, and volatile solvents. Keep a fire extinguisher accessible.
Electrical Safety: Do not open access panels when the machine is connected to a power supply. Avoid touching electronic areas with hands or tools when powered.
Warning Signs: Ensure all warning and instruction signs on the xTool D1 are visible and intact. Replace any damaged or lost signs immediately.
Assembly Instructions
Follow these steps to assemble your xTool D1:
- Cut off the cable tie on the right plate.
- Fit the four side plates together on a flat surface.
- Tighten screws at each joint of the plates to secure them. Ensure proper alignment before tightening screws.
- Adjust the tightness of the timing belts on the left and right plates using the provided screws. Ensure equal tension on both belts for accurate engraving. Do not overtighten.
- Fit the middle plate.
- Adjust the tightness of the timing belt on the middle plate using the provided screw. Do not overtighten.
- Install the optical shaft components: Drag the middle plate close to the rear plate, insert the timing pulley through the timing belt, and tighten the screws on the coupling.
- Connect the motor cables from the left plate to the main control board. Ensure connectors are fully inserted. Use cable ties to manage cables and prevent interference with operation.
- Insert motor and laser cables into the ports on the main control board.
- Connect the motor on the middle plate to the main control board.
- Secure cables on the plate using cable ties.
- Connect the laser head to the main control board by inserting the cable into the fan baffle slot and then the port.
- Fit the laser head by sliding it along the guide rail and locking it with the thumbscrew.
- Secure the cables on the middle plate with cable ties, ensuring sufficient length for the laser head to move freely.
- Insert the TF card into the card slot.
Connecting Your xTool D1
Powering On: Connect the xTool D1 to a power supply and turn on the power switch. The indicator light should turn white.
Connecting to PC:
- Download the xTool software from the official website: https://support.xtool.com/hc/en-us/sections/4408689158807-Software-Download
- Connect the xTool D1 to your PC using a USB cable.
- Open the software. In the connection status dropdown, select 'Not Connected' and then choose your device for USB connection. For Wi-Fi mode, select '+ Configure and add the device', choose your device, and enter your Wi-Fi name and password. Ensure your PC and xTool D1 are on the same network.
Connecting to Laserbox App:
- Download the Laserbox app from your mobile device's app store.
- Connect your xTool D1 to your PC via USB.
- Open the PC software, select '+ Configure and add the device', choose your device, and set up Wi-Fi credentials.
- Connect your mobile device to the same Wi-Fi network as your PC.
- Open the Laserbox app on your mobile device and tap the device icon.
- Wait for the app to discover your device.
- After setting the Wi-Fi network, tap 'OK'.
- Once connected, the device icon in the app will turn green.
Engraving for the First Time
- Import your desired pattern into the software and adjust its size and laser parameters (speed, power, passes).
- Place the material to be engraved within the xTool D1's working area. Use the focus ruler to set the laser head's position.
- Click the 'Start' button and then 'Framing' to preview the engraving position on the material. Adjust the material placement as needed.
- Click 'Start' to begin the engraving process. It is recommended to wear safety goggles during operation.
The software interface allows you to adjust settings like speed, power, engraving mode, and preview estimated time.
Function Extension
The xTool D1 can be extended with additional modules, such as the rotary roller engraving module, to engrave cylindrical items. Connect the module to the extension port for enhanced functionality. Refer to the specific module's tutorial for detailed instructions. Additional modules and components may need to be purchased separately.
