Module Connections

The ZZTSL module features:

Identify Your Tesla MCU

The installation requires identifying your Tesla's Infotainment Processor (MCU). This module supports both Intel and AMD based MCUs.

Intel 3/3.2 MCU

Locate the MCU and check the GUI menu for "Intel Atom 3.0System" or "3.2 MCU".

AMD 3.5 & 3.2/4.0 MCU

Locate the MCU and check the GUI menu for "AMD3.5/4.0 System" or "AMD 3.5 MCU" or "AMD 3.2/4.0 MCU".

Refer to the vehicle's 'Additional Vehicle Information' under 'Software' settings to confirm the 'Infotainment processor' type (Intel or AMD).

ZZTSL Installation

General Steps

  1. Enter Tesla Service Mode: Navigate to Controls > Software, press and hold the 'MODEL' name for 5 seconds, then type 'service' and tap 'OK'. A red banner will appear around the screen.
  2. Determine T-Harness: The kit includes two T-Harnesses (Intel and AMD). Identify your MCU type (Intel or AMD) via 'Additional Vehicle Information' in the car's settings.
  3. Adjust DIP Switches: Refer to the DIP switch chart (Page 10) for correct settings based on your Tesla model and MCU.
  4. Access MCU: Locate the main vehicle MCU. For North America, it's typically behind/beneath the glove box area, requiring removal of the passenger door sill and under-dash panel.
  5. Connect T-Harness (Intel MCU): For Intel MCUs, the T-Harness plugs are on the right side of the MCU.
  6. Connect T-Harness (AMD MCU): For AMD MCUs, one T-Harness plug is on the MCU's right side; the other is in the kick panel near an empty (16-PIN) plug.
  7. Connect LVDS Cables: Intercept the original Tesla LVDS video cable with the provided ZZTSL LVDS cables.

Installation Diagrams

For Intel 3/3.2 Systems

Diagram Description: Shows the ZZTSL module connecting to the Intel Atom 3-3.2 MCU. The module connects to the MCU via two T-Harnesses (T-HARNESS 1, T-HARNESS 2) and OE MCU Connectors. The provided LVDS OUT and LVDS IN cables connect between the module and the OE LVDS VIDEO cable. The Intel T-Harness is also shown. Antennas and Microphone ports are indicated on the module. A USB input is also present. Some connections are marked "NOT USED FOR ANY INSTALLATION".

For AMD 3.5 Systems

Diagram Description: Shows the ZZTSL module connecting to the AMD 3.5 MCU. Similar connections as the Intel system, using T-HARNESS 1 and T-HARNESS 2, OE MCU Connectors, and LVDS cables. The Intel T-Harness is listed as required, though the MCU is AMD. Antennas, Microphone, and USB input are present. Some connections are marked "NOT USED FOR ANY INSTALLATION".

For AMD 3.2-4 Systems

Diagram Description: Shows the ZZTSL module connecting to the AMD 3.2-4 MCU. Connections include T-HARNESS 1, T-HARNESS 2, OE MCU Connectors, and LVDS cables. The AMD T-Harness is shown as required. Antennas, Microphone, and USB input are present. An "Empty 20-PIN in kick panel" is also indicated. Some connections are marked "NOT USED FOR ANY INSTALLATION".

Interface Icon Position: The ZZTSL interface icon can be moved by pressing and holding it for approximately 5 seconds, then dragging it to the desired position.

Battery Reset - Solving Issues

If you encounter issues after installation (e.g., malfunctions with the OE Tesla system), you may need to reset the 12v Low Voltage (LV) battery and High Voltage (HV) connections.

Procedure for Model 3 and Model Y

  1. Open the frunk using the touchscreen controls. Remove the plastic apron covering the battery area.
  2. The Lead Acid (1) or Li-ION battery (2) will be exposed.
  3. For Lead Acid Battery: Disconnect the positive (or negative) terminal, wait 2 minutes, then reconnect.
  4. For Li-ION Battery: Release the green plastic tab on the connector, then pull the connector free. Wait 2 minutes, then reconnect.
  5. Disconnect the First Responder Loop circuit (located near the 12v LV battery). This plug resets the HV battery connection.

All ZZ2 products come with a 3-year warranty. To claim warranty service, follow these steps:

  1. Contact Technical Support: Get in touch via phone or WhatsApp. Provide the invoice number and serial number of the part. Part replacement will not occur without prior contact.
