Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the SupaRetroN® HD Gaming System. For your safety, and the safety of others, please carefully read this instruction manual before using this product.

Setting Up the SupaRetroN® HD

This section details the physical setup of the SupaRetroN® HD console.

Console Overview (Refer to FIG. 1)

The console features the following ports and buttons:

  • CARTRIDGE SLOT: For inserting SNES/SFC cartridges.
  • POWER ON/OFF Button: To turn the console on and off.
  • EJECT Button: To safely release inserted cartridges.
  • CONTROLLER PORT 1: For connecting the first controller.
  • CONTROLLER PORT 2: For connecting a second controller for two-player games.
  • RESET Button: To reset the game currently being played.

Console Ports (Refer to FIG. 2)

Additional ports on the console include:

  • MICRO USB PORT: For power input.
  • OUTPUT PORT: For connecting an HD cable.
  • AV PORT: For connecting an AV cable.
  • ASPECT RATIO SWITCH: Located on the back of the console (for HD cable use only).

Region Switch (Refer to FIG. 3)

A region switch is located on the bottom of the console. This switch is used to select the cartridge region.

Setting Up via HD Cable (FIG. 2)

  1. Insert one end of the HD cable into the OUTPUT PORT on the SupaRetroN® HD.
  2. Connect the other end of the HD cable to an HD input on your HDTV.
  3. Insert the Micro USB cable into the MICRO USB PORT on the SupaRetroN® HD.
  4. Connect the other end of the Micro USB cable to a power source. A 5 Volt, 1 Amp USB wall AC adapter is recommended if one is not included.
  5. Plug the AC adapter into a power outlet.

Setting Up via AV Cable (FIG. 2)

  1. Insert one end of the AV cable into the AV PORT on the SupaRetroN® HD.
  2. Connect the other end of the AV cable to an AV input on your TV.

Aspect Ratio and Region Configuration

Before powering on the SupaRetroN® HD, ensure your aspect ratio and region settings are configured correctly.

  • Aspect Ratio Switch: Located on the back of the console (FIG. 2). Moving the switch to the LEFT position selects a 16:9 aspect ratio. Moving the switch to the RIGHT position selects a 4:3 aspect ratio. This setting is only applicable when using an HD cable.
  • Region Switch: Located on the bottom of the console (FIG. 3). With the console oriented with its front facing you, moving the switch to the LEFT position indicates you are using a NTSC cartridge. Moving the switch to the RIGHT position indicates you are using a PAL cartridge.

Playing SNES and SFC Cartridges (FIG. 1)

  1. Insert the game cartridge into the CARTRIDGE SLOT.
  2. Turn on the SupaRetroN® HD by pressing the POWER button. The Hyperkin logo on the console will illuminate BLUE when powered on.
  3. While the console is on, you can reset the current game by pressing the RESET button.
  4. When finished playing, press the POWER button to turn off the SupaRetroN® HD.
  5. To safely remove the cartridge, press the EJECT button.

Note: Ensure your aspect ratio and region settings are configured before powering on the SupaRetroN® HD.

Using the Premium Classic-Style "Scout" Controllers (FIG. 1)

With the SupaRetroN® HD turned off:

  • Insert a "Scout" controller into CONTROLLER PORT 1.
  • For two-player games, insert a second "Scout" controller into CONTROLLER PORT 2.

The SupaRetroN® HD is also compatible with original SNES and SNES-compatible controllers.
