- Set the time (see Setting the current time on page 13).
Operation
Hints for improved use
The following hints optimize performance:
- Improve vehicle heat insulation by sealing gaps and using reflective blinds or curtains.
- Select appropriate temperature and fan speed.
- Align air nozzles sensibly.
- Ensure air nozzles and intake openings are not covered by cloths, paper, or other objects.
- If the vehicle has been subjected to direct sunlight for a long time, operate in Ventilation mode with windows open for a while before switching to Cooling mode.
- Avoid opening doors and windows as much as possible in Cooling mode.
Basic notes on operation
The Dometic FreshJet FJX4333EEH/FJX7337IHP/FJX7457IHP roof air conditioner has two operating modes:
Operating mode | Description |
Standby | The roof air conditioner is ready for operation and can be switched on with the remote control. Ambient lights are available. The remote control is also in standby but can be switched on independently. |
On | The roof air conditioner is conditioning the air in the interior. |
Fixed-speed and inverter models
The information in this chapter applies to both fixed-speed and inverter models.
Using the remote control
Consider the following when using the remote control:
- Point the remote control at the IR receiver of the control panel.
- Settings and values are transmitted when a button is pressed.
- The roof air conditioner confirms data receipt with a beep.
- Values increase/decrease faster when holding the + or – button.
- In standby mode, the remote control display is inactive. It can be switched on independently. To switch only the remote control to standby, press the button without pointing at the control panel's IR receiver.
Switching the roof air conditioner on and to standby
Note: When switched on, the unit operates with values set before standby. It can only be switched off by cutting the power supply.
- Press the button on the remote control or the button on the control panel to switch the unit on or to standby.
Selecting the air conditioning mode
- Select the desired mode using the MODE button. The unit confirms receipt with a beep and switches to the selected mode.
Selecting the fan speed manually
In all modes except Automatic (A) and Dehumidifying (?), fan speed can be selected manually.
Display message | Description |
Low fan level. | |
Medium fan level. | |
High fan level. | |
Turbo fan level. | |
A | Automatic mode (fan speed adjusts based on ambient temperature). |
- Press the button on the remote control or the button on the control panel to select the desired fan speed. The unit confirms receipt with a beep.
Setting the temperature
In Automatic (A), Cooling (☀️), Heating (❄️), and Dehumidifying (?) modes, you can specify a temperature between 16 °C and 31 °C.
- Use the + or – button on the remote control to set the desired temperature. The unit confirms receipt with a high note.
Setting the current time
The remote control needs the current time to program the timer. The time is shown on the remote control display.
- Press and hold the button to enter time setting mode. The time flashes on the display.
- Use the + or – button to set the current time. Holding the button for over 2 seconds increases or decreases the time quicker.
- Press the SET button to confirm.
Setting the timer
The timer function allows setting a specific time period for air conditioning. You can specify the switch-on time, switch-to-standby time, or both.
The timer is set via remote control.
Note: The remote control returns to its initial mode if no button is pressed for 15 seconds while programming the timer.
Set the switch-on timer:
- Select the desired air conditioning mode and all required values (e.g., temperature).
- If necessary, switch the roof air conditioner to standby. The switch-on timer can only be set when the unit is in standby.
- Press the button once. The 38:88 symbol flashes on the remote control display.
- Use the + or – button to set the switch-on time.
- Press the SET button. The switch-on timer is set. The unit will switch on with the selected mode at the specified time.
Set the switch-to-standby timer:

- Use the + or – button to set the switch-to-standby time.
- Press the SET button. The switch-to-standby timer is set. The unit will switch to standby at the specified time.
Set the switch-on and switch-to-standby timers:
- Select the desired air conditioning mode and all required values.
- Press the button three times. The 88:88 88:88 symbol is shown, and the ON symbol flashes.
- Use the + or – button to set the switch-on time.
- Press the button. The OFF symbol flashes.
- Use the + or – button to set the switch-to-standby time.
- Press the SET button. The switch-on and switch-to-standby times are set. The unit will be switched on for the specified time period.
- To cancel a preset timer, press the button once. The 28:88 88:88 symbols disappear.
Setting the sleep function
The sleep function is available in Cooling (☀️) or Heating (❄️) modes. It limits fan speed to a lower level for quieter operation. For inverter models, it also limits compressor speed.
- To activate: Set the required temperature. Press the button on the remote control or the button on the control panel. The symbol appears.
- To deactivate: Press the or MODE button on the remote control, or the button on the control panel. The symbol disappears.
Activating the I feel function
When active, the remote control measures room temperature and transmits it to the air conditioner every 10 minutes, adapting the target value. The 'I feel' function is active when the temperature range is between +18 °C and +29 °C.
The remote control should not be kept in a part of the room considerably warmer or colder than the average room temperature (e.g., in the sun or in front of the air conditioner).
- Press the button. The symbol appears.
- Position the remote control to point at the IR receiver on the control panel for values to be transmitted.
