VIZIO VSB207BT Sound Bar Quick Start Guide

Important Safety Instructions

Your Sound Bar is designed and manufactured to operate within defined design limits. Misuse may result in electric shock or fire. To prevent damage, observe the following rules for installation, use, and maintenance. Read these instructions before operating and keep them in a safe place.

  • To reduce the risk of electric shock or component damage, switch off the power before connecting other components.
  • Unplug the power cord before cleaning. Use a damp cloth; do not use liquid or spray cleaners or abrasive cleaners.
  • Always use manufacturer-recommended accessories for compatibility.
  • When moving from a cold to a warm environment, condensation may form. Wait before turning on the Sound Bar to avoid fire, electric shock, or component damage.
  • Maintain a distance of at least 3 feet from heat sources like radiators or ovens. Do not install near smoke or moisture, as this may cause fire or electric shock.
  • Ensure ventilation slots in the back and bottom are not blocked to prevent overheating. Do not place in a bookcase or cabinet without proper ventilation.
  • Never insert objects into slots or openings, or place objects on top of the Sound Bar, as this can cause short circuits, fire, or electric shock. Never spill liquids on the Sound Bar.
  • Operate only from the power source indicated on the AC/DC adapter label. Consult your dealer or local power company if unsure about your home's power supply.
  • Only use the specified voltage. Other voltages may cause fire or electric shock.
  • Replace the power cord if using a different voltage than specified. Contact your dealer for information.
  • The AC/DC adapter has a three-pronged grounded plug. Use only in a grounded outlet. If your outlet is not grounded, have an electrician install the correct one or use an adapter to ground the Sound Bar safely. Do not defeat the plug's safety purpose.
  • Power is always flowing when connected to an outlet. Unplug the power cord to totally disconnect power.
  • The lightning flash with an arrowhead symbol ⚡ within an equilateral triangle alerts you to un-isolated, dangerous voltage that may pose an electric shock risk.
  • The exclamation point ❗ within an equilateral triangle alerts you to important operating and servicing instructions in the accompanying literature.
  • Do not overload power strips and extension cords, as this can result in fire or electric shock.
  • The wall socket should be near the Sound Bar and easily accessible.
  • Do not touch the power cord during lightning to avoid electric shock.
  • Unplug the Sound Bar during lightning storms or when not in use for extended periods to protect against power surges.
  • Do not attempt to repair the Sound Bar yourself. Opening covers may expose you to high voltages, electric shock, or other hazards. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
  • Keep the Sound Bar away from moisture. Do not expose it to rain or moisture. If water penetrates, unplug the cord and contact your dealer. Continued use may result in fire or electric shock.
  • Do not use if any abnormality occurs. If smoke or odor is apparent, unplug the cord and contact your dealer immediately. Do not attempt self-repair.
  • Avoid using dropped or damaged appliances. If the housing is damaged, internal components may function abnormally. Unplug immediately and contact your dealer for repair. Continued use may cause fire or electric shock.
  • Do not install in areas with heavy dust or high humidity, as this may cause fire or electric shock.
  • Ensure power cords and cables are unplugged before moving the Sound Bar.
  • When unplugging, hold the power plug, not the cord, to prevent damage and electric shock. Unplug the cord if not used for an extended period.
  • To reduce electric shock risk, do not touch connectors with wet hands.
  • Insert remote control batteries according to instructions. Incorrect polarity may cause battery leakage, damaging the remote or causing injury.
  • Contact your dealer if the power cord fails or frays, liquid sprays or objects drop into the Sound Bar, the Sound Bar is exposed to rain or moisture, the Sound Bar is dropped or damaged, or its performance changes substantially.

Battery Warning

WARNING: DO NOT INGEST BATTERY, CHEMICAL BURN HAZARD

The remote control contains a coin/button cell battery. If swallowed, it can cause severe internal burns in just two hours and can lead to death.

  • Keep new and used batteries away from children. If the battery compartment does not close securely, stop using the product and keep it away from children.
  • If you think batteries might have been swallowed or placed inside any part of the body, seek immediate medical attention.
  • Batteries (battery pack or installed batteries) shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine or fire.

Bluetooth Pairing

To pair your Sound Bar with a Bluetooth device:

  1. Ensure your Bluetooth device is in discovery mode. Refer to your device's documentation for details.
  2. Press and hold the Bluetooth button on the Sound Bar for five (5) seconds. The Sound Bar will enter Bluetooth Pairing Mode, and the indicator lights on the front panel will light sequentially from left to right and back again.
  3. Once the device is paired, the indicator lights will stop flashing.
  4. Play audio from your Bluetooth device. Volume can be controlled on both your source device and the Sound Bar.

Using Bluetooth Mode

Your Sound Bar supports music streaming from Bluetooth-enabled smartphones, tablets, and computers. Device compatibility may vary; consult your device's documentation. Once paired, your device should remain paired as long as it's within range, even if you change the input on the Sound Bar.

Your Sound Bar does not have a microphone and cannot operate as a hands-free device for a smartphone.

Maximizing Signal

A Bluetooth signal has a range of up to 30 feet. Keep in mind that Bluetooth is a compressed audio format, so streamed music may lose some integrity compared to a wired connection.

If your sound quality is less than optimal:

  • If you hear any break-up or disconnect while streaming, move the source device closer to the Sound Bar.
  • Ensure there are no solid obstructions in the line-of-sight between the Sound Bar and the source device.

Check the volume on your device and the Sound Bar before pressing Play. High volume levels can damage your hearing.

Changing the Input Source

You can connect up to 4 devices to your Sound Bar simultaneously. To switch between sources, press the Input button on the Sound Bar or remote until the desired source is selected. The indicator lights on the display panel will illuminate to show which input source has been selected:

  • RCA: Indicator lights for Input 1.
  • 3.5mm: Indicator lights for Input 2.
  • Optical*: Indicator lights for Input 3.
  • Bluetooth: Indicator lights for Bluetooth input.

*For the Optical Input to decode sound, the source output must be set to PCM. Refer to your source device's documentation for more information. If an incorrect source format is detected, the Input 3 (Optical) indicator lights will flash quickly.

Changing the Battery

  1. Insert a flat-head screwdriver into the slot on the remote's battery cover. Gently push down on the tab and pull the cover downward to open.
  2. Replace the old battery with a new CR2032 battery, ensuring the '+' sign is facing up.
  3. Push the battery cover back into place until it clicks.

Connecting a Subwoofer

1. Connect Subwoofer: TURN BOTH SOUND BAR AND SUBWOOFER OFF. Connect an RCA cable from the Sub Out port on the back of the Sound Bar to your subwoofer. (Subwoofer not included).

The volume on your subwoofer must be manually adjusted. Refer to your subwoofer's user manual for proper operation details.

Wall Mounting the Sound Bar

  1. Remove the screw from the Sound Bar stands and rotate them as shown.
  2. Ensure your screws are attached to wood studs or drywall anchors (for drywall) or concrete anchors (for brick/concrete walls). Wall mounting hardware is not included. If you are unfamiliar with power tools or electrical wiring in walls, consult a professional installer.
  3. Reattach the stands using the included screw. The Sound Bar can be mounted with a total width of 26 3/4 inches (67.95 cm) between mounting points.

Common Issues:

  • There is no power: Press the POWER button on the remote or Sound Bar. Ensure the power cord is securely connected. Check that the power adapter light is glowing green. Plug a different device into the electrical outlet to verify it is working.
  • There is no sound: Increase the volume. Press MUTE on the remote to ensure the Sound Bar is not muted. Press INPUT to select a different input source. If using Optical/SPDIF, ensure your TV's audio output is set to PCM. Check if your TV's audio output is set to FIXED or STANDARD, not VARIABLE. Consult your TV's manual. If using Bluetooth, ensure your source device volume is up and not muted.
  • I hear buzzing or humming: Ensure all cables and wires are securely connected. Connect a different source device (TV, Blu-ray player) to see if the buzzing persists; if not, the issue may be with the original device. Connect your device to a different input on the Sound Bar.
  • The remote isn't working: Replace the remote battery. Point the remote directly at the Sound Bar. Some remote buttons may not be supported by certain Bluetooth streaming applications (e.g., Back/Fast Rewind).
  • The audio is distorted in Bluetooth mode: Move the source device closer to the Sound Bar (Bluetooth range is up to 30 feet). Move the source device away from other devices with wireless signals that might cause interference. Restart both your source device and the Sound Bar. Re-pair the source device with the Sound Bar.
