Introduction & What's in the Box

This manual provides instructions for the Ozito 18V Lithium Ion 115mm Angle Grinder, including setup, operation, maintenance, and safety information. It also covers compatible Ozito chargers and batteries.

Setup & Preparation

Assembly

Important: Ensure the tool is switched OFF and the battery is REMOVED before performing assembly tasks.

Fitting and Removing the Side Handle

The side handle can be screwed clockwise into one of three handle positions for fitting. To remove, screw it anti-clockwise.

Adjusting the Safety Guard

The safety guard is pre-fitted. To adjust its position:

1. Loosen the safety guard locking screw to allow the guard to spin.
2. Rotate the guard into the desired position.
3. Tighten the safety guard locking screw to secure it.

⚠️ Warning: Never operate the angle grinder without the safety guard fitted, as serious injuries could occur.

Battery and Charger Information

This tool is compatible with all batteries and chargers from the Ozito Power X Change range. For optimal performance, an 18V 3.0Ah battery or higher is recommended.

Charging a Lithium Ion Battery (e.g., PXBP-300 3.0Ah Battery)

Charger Compatibility: Ozito Power X Change 18V range, including PXMBC-002 Multi Battery Charger, PXCG-030 Fast Charger, PXCG-060 Standard Charger, PXCG-120 Eco Charger.

Charging Procedure:

1. Connect the charger's power plug to a mains socket outlet. The green LED will flash, indicating power supply.
2. Align the battery's ribs with the charger's recess and slide it in until it clicks.
3. The red LED will illuminate during charging.
4. The green LED will illuminate when the battery is fully charged.

Battery Charge Indicator: The battery has an indicator button to show the charge level (requires immediate charging, low charge, mid charge, full charge).

Battery Protection System: The tool has a system that automatically cuts off power during overload or when battery capacity is low to ensure longevity.

Charger Safety Warnings

Read all instructions. Do not use for other purposes. Avoid heat sources. Unplug by plug, not cord. Use appropriate extension cords. Do not operate if damaged. Do not disassemble. Unplug before cleaning. Do not connect two chargers. Avoid high temperatures (do not store/use above 40°C). Use only on specified voltage (200-250V AC). Charge in well-ventilated area.

Operation

Turning On and Off

To turn on: Slide the lock-on switch across to the right and then forward.

To turn off: Slide the lock-on switch back and to the left.

Grinding Procedure

1. Ensure the workpiece is securely held down.
2. Hold the angle grinder firmly with both handles and switch it on.
3. Begin grinding your workpiece. The optimum grinding angle is 10-15° to the workpiece.

Note: Do not apply excessive pressure; allow the tool to do the work to prevent deep gouging.

Replacing a Grinding Disc

1. Depress and hold the spindle lock to prevent the spindle from spinning.
2. Using the pin wrench, loosen the flange by rotating it anti-clockwise.
3. Remove the flange and replace the grinding disc on the spindle.
4. Screw the flange back onto the spindle and tighten using the pin wrench while holding the spindle lock down.

Troubleshooting

• LED lights do not illuminate on charger: Check charger connection, battery connection, and charging jack connection.
• Battery has a short run time: Ensure the battery is properly charged (allow 4-5 cycles for optimum performance). Initial charge requires 5 hours; subsequent charges 3-5 hours.
• Sparking visible through housing vents: A small amount of sparking is normal and does not indicate a problem.
• Spindle locking button will not depress: Rotate the spindle slightly while applying pressure to the spindle lock to engage it.

Maintenance

⚠️ Warning: Always ensure the tool has completely stopped and the battery is removed before any maintenance.

• After each use, blow air through the tool housing to remove dust and dirt.
• Clean the housing with a moist soft cloth or soft brush; do not use solvents.
• Never let liquid get inside the tool or immerse any part in liquid.
• Store the angle grinder in a dry, frost-free location out of reach of children when not in use.

General Electrical Safety

⚠️ Warning: When using mains-powered tools, follow basic safety precautions to reduce risk of fire, electric shock, and injury. Use only with specified voltage (230V/240V for Australia/New Zealand). Double insulated tools do not require an earth wire. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by a qualified person. Use of a residual current device (RCD) rated at 30mA or less is recommended.

General Power Tool Safety Warnings

• Work Area: Keep clean, well-lit, and free from flammable materials. Keep bystanders away.
• Electrical Safety: Use correct plugs, avoid body contact with earthed surfaces, do not expose to rain/wet conditions, do not abuse the cord, use outdoor-suitable extension cords if necessary, use RCD-protected supply in damp locations.
• Personal Safety: Stay alert, use common sense, wear personal protective equipment (e.g., ? Eye Protection, ? Dust Mask, ? Hearing Protection, ? Gloves), prevent unintentional starting, remove adjustment keys, maintain proper footing and balance, dress properly (no loose clothing/jewellery), keep hair away from moving parts, use dust extraction if available.
• Power Tool Use and Care: Use the correct tool for the application, do not force the tool, ensure the switch works, disconnect power before adjustments/storage, store out of reach of children, maintain tools (check for damage), keep cutting tools sharp and clean, use accessories according to instructions.
• Battery Tool Use and Care: Recharge only with specified charger, use only designated battery packs, keep battery ? away from metal objects, avoid contact with ejected battery liquid.
• Service: Have tools serviced by qualified personnel using identical replacement parts.

Angle Grinder Specific Safety Warnings

• Intended for grinding, sanding, cut-off operations; not for wire brushing or polishing.
• Use only manufacturer-recommended accessories.
• Accessory speed must match or exceed tool's rated speed.
• Accessory diameter and thickness must be within tool's capacity.
• Ensure correct arbour size for spindle.
• Do not use damaged accessories. Inspect before use.
• Wear appropriate PPE (face shield, safety goggles ?, safety glasses, dust mask ?, hearing protectors ?, gloves ?, workshop apron).
• Keep bystanders at a safe distance.
• Hold by insulated gripping surfaces only, especially near hidden wiring.
• Never lay the tool down until the accessory stops completely.
• Do not carry the tool with a spinning accessory at your side.
• Clean air vents regularly.
• Do not operate near flammable materials.
• Do not use accessories requiring liquid coolants.

Kickback and Related Warnings

Kickback is a sudden reaction to a pinched or snagged rotating accessory. It can cause uncontrolled movement of the tool. To avoid:

• Maintain a firm grip and position your body to resist kickback forces. Use auxiliary handle if provided.
• Never place your hand near the rotating accessory.
• Do not position your body in the path of potential kickback.
• Use special care when working corners or sharp edges to avoid bouncing or snagging.
• Do not attach saw chain woodcarving blades or toothed saw blades.

Additional Safety Instructions for Grinding and Abrasive Cutting-Off Operations

• Use only recommended wheel types and guards.
• Position guard for maximum safety, exposing the least amount of wheel.
• Use wheels only for recommended applications (e.g., do not grind with the side of a cut-off wheel).
• Use undamaged, correctly sized wheel flanges.
• Do not use worn-down wheels from larger tools.
• Do not "jam" cut-off wheels or apply excessive pressure.
• Do not position body in line with and behind the rotating wheel.
• If a wheel binds, switch off the tool and wait for it to stop before removing.
• Do not restart cutting in the work piece if the wheel binds; re-enter carefully.
• Support work pieces to minimize pinching and kickback.
• Use extra caution for "pocket cuts" into walls or blind areas.

Additional Safety Instructions for Sanding Operations

• Do not use excessively oversized sanding disc paper.
