Cardo PACKTALK BOLD Pocket Guide

Device Overview

The Cardo PACKTALK BOLD features:

• Media controls
• LED Indicator for status
• Intercom functionality
• Control Wheel for navigation and selection
• Mobile connectivity
• USB Charging and Firmware Upgrade port
• Flip-Up Antenna for extended range

Note: Language settings can be adjusted via the Cardo Connect mobile application.

Getting Started

Power On/Off: Press and hold the control wheel for 1 second.

Use While Charging: Connect the USB cable and press the control wheel for 1 second to power on the device.

Pairing Mobile Devices

Initiate Pairing: Press and hold the control wheel for 5 seconds until it flashes red/blue.

Pair Phone: On your mobile device, search for Bluetooth devices and select "CARDO".

Add Second Phone / GPS: After initiating pairing (5 seconds, red/blue flash), press the control wheel twice (x2) until it flashes red/green. Then, search for Bluetooth devices on your second phone or GPS device and select "CARDO".

Cancel Pairing: Press and hold the control wheel for 5 seconds until it flashes red/blue.

Phone Functions

Voice Dial: Press the control wheel once (x1).

Redial: Press the control wheel twice (x2).

Speed Dial: Press and hold the control wheel for 2 seconds (configure via the Cardo Connect app).

Share Call with DMC Group: Start or stop sharing an active phone call with your DMC group by pressing the control wheel once (x1).

Answer a Call: Press any of the three main buttons once (x1).

Ignore a Call: Press the button with the 'X' symbol once (x1).

Reject a Call: Press any of the three main buttons for 2 seconds.

End a Call: Press any of the three main buttons once (x1).

Audio Functions

FM Radio

• Turn On: Press the control wheel twice (x2).
• Turn Off: Press the control wheel once (x1).
• Previous Station: Press the control wheel twice (x2).
• Next Station: Press the control wheel once (x1).
• Auto Scan: Press and scroll the control wheel.
• Stop Scan: Press the control wheel once (x1).

Music

• Turn On: Press the control wheel once (x1).
• Turn Off: Press the control wheel once (x1).
• Previous Track: Press the control wheel twice (x2).
• Next Track: Press the control wheel once (x1).

FM/Music Toggle: Press and hold the control wheel for 2 seconds.

Sharing Audio (Bluetooth Mode): Start or stop audio sharing by pressing the control wheel for 2 seconds.

DMC Intercom Grouping

Verify DMC Mode: Ensure the device is in DMC Mode (indicated by a green flashing light).

Change Intercom Mode: Switch between Bluetooth and DMC modes.

Create / Join a new DMC Group:

1. Admin + Group Members / New Member: Press the control wheel for 5 seconds (rapid green flash).
2. THEN ONLY ONE GROUP ADMIN: Press the control wheel once (x1) (flashes red). The device will indicate "Grouped successfully" with a purple flash.

Cancel Grouping: Press and hold the control wheel for 5 seconds (rapid green flash).

Using DMC Intercom

Talking - Always On:

• Mute Group: Press and hold the control wheel for 2 seconds.
• Unmute Group: Press and hold the control wheel for 2 seconds.
• Mute Microphone: Press the control wheel once (x1).
• Unmute Microphone: Press the control wheel once (x1).

Private Chat:

1. Choose a member for private chat via the Mobile App.
2. Start/Stop chat by pressing the control wheel twice (x2).

Bridge (add) a non-DMC passenger:

1. First, verify that the passenger is paired via Bluetooth (refer to 2-way Bluetooth intercom pairing instructions).
2. Start/Stop bridging by pressing the control wheel once (x1).

Set a Cardo non-DMC Intercom

Verify Bluetooth Mode: Ensure the device is in Bluetooth Mode.

Change Intercom Mode: Switch between Bluetooth and DMC modes.

2-way Pairing: Press the control wheel for 5 seconds (flashes red/blue). Initiate intercom pairing with another rider.

Adding 3rd Rider: Press the control wheel for 5 seconds (flashes red/blue), then press the control wheel twice (x2) (flashes red/green). Initiate intercom pairing.

Adding 4th Rider: Rider 2 connects to Rider 3 on Rider 2's free channel.

Set a Universal Intercom

Verify Bluetooth Mode: Ensure the device is in Bluetooth Mode.

Change Intercom Mode: Switch between Bluetooth and DMC modes.

2-way Pairing: Press the control wheel for 5 seconds (flashes red/blue). Initiate phone pairing with another rider.

Adding 3rd Rider: Press the control wheel for 5 seconds (flashes red/blue), then press the control wheel once (x1) (flashes red/green). Initiate phone pairing.

Adding 4th Rider: Rider 2 connects to Rider 3 on Rider 2's free channel.

Intercom Operations

Start / End / Add Rider 1: Press the control wheel once (x1).

Start / End / Add Rider 2: Press the control wheel twice (x2).

Initiate 4-way Intercom Conference:

• Connects to Rider 1: Press control wheel once (x1).
• Connects to Rider 3: Press control wheel once (x1).
• Connects to Rider 2: Press control wheel twice (x2).

Voice Commands (Always On!)

Just say "Hey Cardo" followed by:

• FM Radio: "radio on", "radio off", "next station", "previous station"
• Music: "music on", "music off", "next track", "previous track"
• Volume: "volume up", "volume down", "mute audio", "unmute audio"
• Phone: "speed dial", "redial number", "Answer", "Ignore"
• Voice Assistants: "Hey Siri", "Ok Google"
• Status: "battery status", "call intercom"

Factory Reset

Press and hold the control wheel for 5 seconds (device will flash 5 times).
