How to Charge the Battery
- Ensure the device is turned off.
- Connect the audio recorder to a PC or USB power supply.
- Full charging takes approximately 2 hours.
- A solid red light indicates charging.
- A flashing red light indicates the battery is fully charged.
The device features a charging indicator light.
How to Record an Audio File
- Locate the toggle wheel with a divot on the top of the device.
- Below the divot, on the side marked MQ-U350, are two symbols: a minus (-) and two dots (...).
- The divot can be slid towards either symbol.
- When the divot is in the middle position, the device is off.
- Sliding the divot towards the minus (-) symbol activates continuous recording mode.
- Sliding the divot towards the two dots (...) symbol activates voice-activated recording mode.
- To end a recording, slide the divot back to the middle position to turn off the device.
- Wait 5 seconds before starting a new recording.
Note: If the device runs out of power during recording, it will finalize and save the current file before shutting down.
Device Settings and Scheduled Recording
The device offers various recording modes and scheduling options:
Mode Settings:
- Record Quality: Options include PCM.
- VOS (Voice Operated System): Options include VOS Off, +2, +1, 0, -1, -2.
- MIC Sense: Options include +1, 0, -1, -2.
Scheduled Recording:
- Status: Can be set to 'Off' or 'On'.
- When 'On', recording starts automatically at a set time daily.
- Start Time: Set the hour and minute for scheduled recording (24-hour format).
- Duration: Select the recording duration (1, 2, 5, 10, or 20 hours).
Caution: Incorrect date and time settings may cause scheduled recording to malfunction.
Managing and Deleting Files on Windows
- Connect the device to your PC.
- The PC will recognize the device as a removable disk.
- Open the "MemoQ" folder.
- Inside "MemoQ", open the "Voice" folder.
- Double-click a file to play it.
- To delete a file, right-click on it and select "delete" from the context menu.
Setting Time and Date on a Windows Computer
- Connect the device to your computer's USB port.
- Double-click the "TimeSetup.exe" file to open the "date_time.cfg" creator.
- Press "start" to synchronize the date and time with your PC.
- A new file named "date_time.cfg" will be created.
- Disconnect the device and create a new recording to apply the time and date.
- Reconnect the device; if "date_time.cfg" is no longer visible, the time and date have been set successfully.
Setting Time and Date on a Mac Computer
Note: The "TimeSetup.exe" program is only compatible with Windows. Follow these steps for Mac:
- Connect the device to the USB port of your Mac.
- The Mac will recognize the device as a removable disk.
- Open TextEdit.
- Create a new plain text file (Format > Make Plain Text, disable Wrap to Page).
- Input the date and time in the format:
YYYYMMDDHHMM 11E22000000000000
(e.g.,202406151330 11E22000000000000
for June 15, 2024, at 1:30:11 PM). - Save the file as "date_time.cfg".
- If the file is saved as "date_time.cfg.txt", you need to change the extension.
- Locate "date_time.cfg" on your Mac, move it to your desktop.
- Hold the Command key and click the file, then select "Get Info".
- In the "Get Info" window, rename the file to remove the ".txt" extension. Confirm the change to ".cfg" when prompted.
- Ensure "Hide Extension" is unchecked in the "Get Info" window.
- Move the "date_time.cfg" file into the same folder as the "Time Setup" program on the device. The folder should contain "Version", "Voice", and the "Time Setup Program".
- Safely eject the device and create a new recording to apply the time and date.
- Reconnect the device. If "date_time.cfg" is gone, the time and date are set. If it remains, repeat the process, ensuring all steps were followed correctly.

Managing and Deleting Files on a Mac
- Connect the device to your Mac.
- The Mac will recognize it as a removable disk.
- Open the "Record" folder, then the "Voice" folder.
- Double-click a file to play it.
- To delete a file, drag it to the Trash bin.
- Empty the Trash bin while the device is still connected to permanently delete files from the recorder.
Note: Failing to empty the Trash bin on a Mac can leave "phantom" deleted files on the device, consuming storage space.

Setting Time and Date on a Google Chromebook
- Connect the device to the Chromebook's USB port.
- Open the text application (via the App Launcher 'O' icon, search for 'text').
- Create a new plain text file.
- Input the date and time in the format:
YYYYMMDDHHMM 11E22000000000000
(e.g.,202406151330 11E22000000000000
). - Save the file as "date_time.cfg".
- Connect the device to the Chromebook.
- Access the "Removable Drive" (usually found under "My Drive" or similar in the App Launcher).
- Move the "date_time.cfg" file into the device's main folder, alongside the "Time Setup Program".
- Disconnect the device and create a new recording to apply the time and date.
- Reconnect the device. If "date_time.cfg" is no longer present, the time and date are set. If it remains, repeat the process.
Playback Files on a Google Chromebook
- Connect the device to the Chromebook's USB port.
- If a pop-up appears, select "View Files".
- Alternatively, access the "Removable Drive" via the App Launcher.
- Navigate the folders to find your recorded files.
- Double-click a file to play it.
Setting Time and Date on an Android Smartphone/Tablet
- Create a new text document using a notepad app.
- Input the date and time in the format:
YYYYMMDDHHMM 11E22000000000000
(e.g.,202406151330 11E22000000000000
). - Save the file as "Date_Time" with the extension ".txt".
- Locate the saved file and rename it to "date_time.cfg".
- Use the "Files" app to move the "date_time.cfg" file to the recorder's main folder, alongside the "Time Setup Program".
- Disconnect the device and create a new recording to apply the time and date.
- Reconnect the device. If "date_time.cfg" is no longer present, the time and date are set. If it remains, repeat the process.
Playback Files on an Android Smartphone/Tablet
Note: An OTG cable is required. You may need a WAV-compatible media player like VLC Media Player.
- Connect the device to your Android device using an OTG cable.
- Navigate to "Device Storage" or "External Memory" to find your recorded files.

VLC Media Player Installation and Usage
On a Mac Computer:
- Download VLC from www.videolan.org.
- Drag the downloaded VLC application to your "Applications" folder.
- To play files, open VLC and drag your media files into the "Drag Here" area.
- If prompted, adjust Security & Privacy settings (Apple icon > System Preferences > Security & Privacy > unlock > Open Anyway).
On a Windows Computer:
- Download VLC from www.videolan.org.
- Run the installer and follow the on-screen prompts.
- To set VLC as the default player, right-click a file, select "Open With" > "Choose another app", select VLC, and check "Always use this app".
Troubleshooting PC Connection: If the device's memory folder doesn't open automatically:
- Type "Control Panel" in the Windows search bar.
- Go to "Programs" > "Default Programs" > "Change Default settings for Media or Devices".
- Under "Removable Devices", select "Open Folder" to view files.
- Save the settings and reconnect the device.
