MOES WiFi Thermostat: Smart Life App Programming Guide

Preparation for Wi-Fi Connection

To connect your MOES WiFi Thermostat, you will need a 4G mobile phone and a wireless router. Connect your wireless router to your mobile phone and record the Wi-Fi password, which is required for pairing the thermostat with your Wi-Fi network.

Step 1: Download Your App

For Android users, search for "Smart RM" or "Smart life" on Google Play. For iPhone users, search for "Smart RM" or "Smart life" in the App Store.

Step 2: Register Your Account

  • After installing the app, tap "register" (refer to Fig 2-1).
  • Read the Privacy Policy and press "Agree" to proceed to the next step (refer to Fig 2-2).
  • Your registration account name can be your Email or mobile phone number. Select your Region, then tap "Continue" (refer to Fig 2-3).
  • You will receive a 6-digit verification code via email or SMS. Enter this code on your phone (refer to Fig 2-4).
  • Set your password. The password must contain 6-20 letters and numbers. Tap "Done" (refer to Fig 2-5).

Step 3: Create Family Information

  • Fill in the family name (refer to Fig 3-2).
  • Select or add a room for the thermostat (refer to Fig 3-2).
  • Set location permission (refer to Fig 3-3) and then configure the thermostat's location (refer to Fig 3-4).

Step 4a: Connect Your Wi-Fi Signal (EZ Distribution Mode)

  1. Go to your phone's Wi-Fi settings and ensure you are connected to a 2.4GHz network. Note: 5GHz connections are not compatible with the thermostat.
  2. In the app, tap "Add Device" or the "+" icon in the upper right corner. Under the "Small Appliance" category, select "Thermostat" (refer to Fig 4-2).
  3. With the thermostat powered on, press and hold the [power symbol] ⚡ and the [Wi-Fi symbol] ? simultaneously until both indicator lights flash, indicating EZ distribution mode. This may take 5-20 seconds.
  4. On your thermostat, confirm that the indicator lights are rapidly blinking. Then, return to the app and confirm this status.
  5. Enter your wireless router's password (this is case-sensitive) (refer to Fig 4-4) and tap "Confirm". The app will connect automatically (refer to Fig 4-5). This process typically takes 5-90 seconds.
  6. If you encounter an error, double-check your Wi-Fi password (case-sensitive, often found on the bottom of your router) and ensure you are not connected to your Wi-Fi's 5GHz band.
  7. Your room name can be edited after the device has successfully connected.

Step 4b: Connect Your Wi-Fi Signal (AP Mode Pairing)

Use this alternative method if Step 4a failed to pair the device.

  1. In the app, tap "Add Device" or "+" and select "Thermostat". Then, tap "AP Mode" in the top right corner (refer to Fig 5-1).
  2. On the thermostat, press the power button, then press and hold the [Wi-Fi symbol] ? until the Wi-Fi indicator flashes. If the power indicator also flashes, release both buttons and press and hold the [Wi-Fi symbol] ? again until the Wi-Fi indicator flashes rapidly.
  3. In the app, tap "Confirm indicator rapidly blink". Enter your wireless router's password (refer to Fig 4-4).
  4. Tap "Connect Now". Select the thermostat's Wi-Fi signal, typically named "Smartlife-XXXX" (refer to Fig 5-3 and 5-4). The app may indicate that the internet is unavailable and prompt you to change networks; you can ignore this prompt.
  5. Return to the app and tap "Connect". The app will connect automatically (refer to Fig 4-5). This may take 5-90 seconds. A confirmation screen will appear (refer to Fig 4-6), allowing you to rename the thermostat (refer to Fig 4-7).

  • Fig 5-2: Illustration of connecting to the device's Wi-Fi hotspot.
  • Fig 5-3: WLAN settings screen showing available Wi-Fi networks.
  • Fig 5-4: The selected "SmartLife_XXXX" network connection.

Step 5: Changing Sensor Type and Temperature Limit

Press the settings icon [gear symbol] ⚙️ (refer to Fig 4-8) in the bottom right corner to access the menu.

  • Tap the "Sensor type" option and enter the password (default: 123456). You will be presented with three options:
    • 1. "Single built-in sensor": Uses only the internal air sensor (not recommended for floor heating).
    • 2. "Single external sensor": Uses only the floor probe (ideal for bathrooms where the thermostat is installed outside the room).
    • 3. "Internal and external sensors": Uses both sensors to read the temperature (most common option).
  • Ensure the "Set temp. max" option is set to a suitable maximum temperature for your flooring, typically 45°C.

Note: A floor probe must always be used with electric underfloor heating to protect the flooring.

Figure Description:

  • Fig 4-8: Thermostat display showing current temperature and access to the settings menu.

Step 6: Programming Daily Schedule

Press the settings icon [gear symbol] ⚙️ (refer to Fig 4-8) to bring up the menu. At the bottom of the menu, you will find two standalone options: "Week program type" and "Weekly program setting".

"Week program type" allows you to choose the number of days the schedule applies to: 5+2 (weekday+weekend), 6+1 (Mon-Sat+Sun), or 7 days (all week).

"Weekly program" setting allows you to define the time and temperature for your daily schedule at varying points. You can set up to 6 time slots and corresponding temperatures. See the example below:

Time SlotWake upLeave HomeBack HomeLeave HomeBack HomeSleep
Time06:0008:0011:3013:3017:0022:00

If you do not require temperature adjustments mid-day, you can set the same temperature for slots 2, 3, and 4, preventing an increase until the time specified in slot 5.

Additional Features

  • Holiday Mode: Program the thermostat to maintain a set temperature for up to 30 days, providing background heat while you are away. Access this via the "Mode" section (refer to Fig 4-8). You can set the number of days (1-30) and a temperature (up to 27°C).
  • Lock Mode: Remotely lock the thermostat to prevent unauthorized changes. Tap the [lock symbol] (refer to Fig 4-8) to lock and tap it again to unlock.
  • Grouping Devices: Link multiple thermostats to control them simultaneously. Tap the [group symbol] (refer to Fig 4-8) in the top right corner and select "Create Group". Choose the thermostats you wish to include in the group and then name the group.
  • Family Management: Add other users to control your devices. Navigate to the home page, tap your family name in the top left corner, and select "Family Management". Tap "Add Member" and enter the registered mobile number or email address of the user you wish to invite. You can assign administrator privileges, allowing them to make changes to devices.
