Basic Operations

Dongle Storage Cover

This projector features a cover on the bottom designed for storing "dongles" such as casting devices and digital media players.

Note: Since the unit is placed upside down during operation, prepare a spacer (3.5cm-4.0cm thick, 15cm wide or more, 5cm-10cm deep) to prevent tilting. Ensure the dongle and spacer are strong enough. If the spacer is made of hard material, wrap cables in cloth to prevent scratches.

Note: Depending on how the cables are routed, it may not be possible to store the dongle inside the cover.

The Google Chromecast (3rd generation) has been confirmed to be storable.

How to store the dongle inside the cover

  1. The storage compartment is on the bottom, so place the unit upside down.
  2. Prepare a flat, strong table large enough for the projector with a margin of at least 10cm in length and width.
  3. Place a sheet of cloth or similar material, larger than the projector, on the table to prevent scratches.
  4. Turn off the projector's power and unplug the power cable. Also, unplug all connected signal cables.
  5. Place the projector upside down on the cloth. Be careful as the inclined front may make it unstable.
  6. Place the prepared spacer on the front of the projector. Ensure the projector does not tilt and the spacer does not fall out.
  7. Note: Ensure the bottom surface of the projector is not tilted when placed between the spacer. A dongle placed on the bottom may slip off and be damaged.
  8. Hook your finger into the tab on the cover and push and lift in the direction of the arrow to remove the cover.
  9. The cover can be removed by lifting it up and sliding it off.
  10. Insert the dongle's HDMI connector into the HDMI1 terminal. (Inserting into HDMI2 may interfere with the cover's claw). Place the dongle on top of the projector's bottom. Connect the dongle's power supply.
  11. Note: Depending on the dongle's shape, it may not fit inside the cover.
  12. Note: If using the projector's USB power terminal (5V2A) for the dongle, ensure the dongle's voltage is 5V and current is 2A or less. If it doesn't work, use an AC adapter.
  13. Insert the two claws of the cover into the holes on the bottom of the projector.
  14. There is a gap on the underside of the cover for the dongle cable. Thread the cable through. Close the cover carefully, ensuring no strain on the dongle. Make sure it locks with a click.
  15. Note: Before closing, ensure enough space around the dongle and no cable strain. Close slowly and without excessive force to avoid damaging the dongle.
  16. Remove the spacer, return the unit to its normal orientation, and place it for use.
  17. Connect the power cable and signal cable, then turn the power on.
  18. Note: To display video from the dongle, select HDMI1 as the input.

Caution: Please use the dongle cover and power terminal (5V2A) at your own risk. RICOH is not responsible for any problems that may occur.

Caution: Placing the dongle inside the cover may cause overheating or wireless communication instability. If issues arise, remove the dongle.

Caution: Radio waves from the dongle may affect the projector's wireless communication. If this occurs, move the dongle away from the projector.

Caution: Do not move the projector with the dongle inside the cover, as it may break the dongle.

Caution: Be careful not to allow metal objects into the cover's tab hole. If metal enters, do not turn on the power; request repairs.

Caution: Keep the cover on at all times except when installing/removing the dongle. If the cover is broken or lost, cover the holes with insulating tape and request repairs immediately.

Image Adjustment

Picture Mode

Factory presets optimized for various image types:

Note: [Picture Mode] set to [Bright] conflicts with [Laser Power Mode] set to [Constant Luminance], and vice versa.

Brightness

Adjust the brightness of the image. Press [←] to darken, [→] to lighten.

Contrast

Controls the difference between the lightest and darkest parts of the picture. Press [←] to decrease, [→] to increase.

Saturation

Adjusts the color saturation. Press [←] to decrease color amount, [→] to increase.

Sharpness

Adjusts the sharpness of the image. Press [←] to soften, [→] to sharpen.

Gamma

Adjusts projection image brightness. Options: 1.8, 2.0, 2.2, 2.4, Shine (midtones brightest). 2.4 has darkest midtones.

Color Temperature

Sets the color temperature. Options: Low, Mid, High, Native.

HDR Settings

Adjusts HDR (High Dynamic Range) settings.

NCE

Adjusts advanced color for projection image quality. Options: On/Off.

Note: NCE settings are valid when NCE is set to [On].

Advanced

Allows accurate adjustment of color parameters for the best image effect.

Note: [High Contrast Mode] can only be set to [Off] when [Image Adjustment] > [Picture Mode] is not [Bright].

Note: When [High Contrast Mode] is set to anything other than [Off], [Laser Power Mode] must be [Constant Power] and [Laser Power] must be [100] in [Options] > [Laser Settings].

Screen

Aspect Ratio

Choose the desired aspect ratio of the projected image. Options: Auto, 4:3, 16:9, 16:10.

Distortion

Adjusts image distortion caused by tilting the projector.

Note: H/V Keystone and geometric corrections reduce image clarity due to digital signal processing. Only one function in [Distortion] can be applied at a time.

D.Zoom/Magnify

Adjusts the size or position of a projected image. Use [↑↓←→] buttons to adjust the value.

Note: [D.Zoom/ Magnify] function is available only when [HDMI1], [HDMI2], or [HDBaseT] is chosen as the input signal.

Note: Adjustment range depends on D.Zoom/Magnify setting. When H.(V.) Zoom is set to 100, H.(V.) Shift cannot be adjusted. Values that cannot be set are skipped during adjustment.

Projection

Select the projector mode based on mounting. Options: Normal (default), Rear (upside down image), Ceiling (reversed image), Rear Ceiling (reversed and upside down).

Screen Type

Choose the appropriate screen ratio. Options: 4:3, 16:9, 16:10.

Multi Projection

Enables projecting one large image using two projectors lined up horizontally.

Note: When using Multi Projection, set [Image Adjusting] > [Advanced] > [High Contrast Mode] to [Off]. Ensure [Image Adjustment] and [Options] > [Laser settings] match for both projectors. Black Level adjustment limitations exist for overlapped areas.

How to set the Multi projection

Preparations:

Settings and Adjustments:

  1. Install two projectors side by side, with at least 20% overlap recommended. Orient them squarely to the screen. Use a paper template with a desired projection size rectangle for alignment.
  2. Set [Screen] > [Multi Projection] > [Multi Projection] to [On].
  3. Set [Screen] > [Multi Projection] > [Position]: Left projector to [1], Right projector to [2].
  4. Open [Screen] > [Multi Projection] > [Edge Blending] > [Pattern] to display the Blending Pattern on both projectors.
  5. Measure the overlap width using the pattern scale. Diagram Description: Shows a scale and outer frame to measure overlap width, indicating distance between arrows as 50 units.
  6. Adjust projection position using [Screen] > [Multi Projection] > [Edge Blending] > [Four Corners (M.P.)]. Align outer frames and overlap widths for both projectors.
  7. Adjust image enlargement ratio using [Screen] > [D.Zoom/Magnify] > [H.Zoom]/[V.Zoom] (set the same value for both projectors).
  8. Adjust vertical cropping with [V.Shift] (set the same value for both projectors).
  9. Adjust horizontal cropping with [H.Shift] for each projector to fine-tune overlapping areas and prevent double images.
  10. Enter the noted overlap width in [Screen] > [Multi Projection] > [Edge Blending] > [Width].
  11. Set [Screen] > [Multi Projection] > [Edge Blending] > [Control] to [On].
  12. Adjust Black Level if necessary.
