Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Tournament Fighters
Nintendo Entertainment System Instruction Manual
Introduction
Sure, being a teenager is fun, but when you're also a Ninja master and a mutated turtle, you're going to face your real challenges. Shredder has issued a challenge that can't be ignored. So if you want to see what kind of guts it takes to be a champion, then pop this Nintendo Entertainment System game pak into place, turn on the juice, and get ready to sweat! More importantly, if you want a fighting chance in this Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Tournament Fighters game, you better read this instruction manual.
The story begins on a summer afternoon in the sewers below Manhattan. Leonardo is practicing with his Katana. Michaelangelo comments on the dummy. Raphael reminds them they are saving their energy for the training dojo. Suddenly, an explosion rocks the room. Donatello enters, explaining he saw a remote-controlled boat spewing capsules. Leonardo opens one and reads the message: Shredder offers a tournament to find the most powerful fighter. Donatello suggests they accept. Michelangelo is eager to show Shredder who's toughest.

Story Mode
In this mode, the Turtles are trying to find out who is the toughest, leading to an ultimate showdown with Shredder. Along the way, the player must also test their skills against other fighters: Casey Jones and Hothead.
After selecting this mode, choose your Turtle from the selection screen using the [Control Pad] and press the [B Button] to proceed to the tournament.
vs Player Mode
This mode allows two players to pick different characters and battle, or pick the same characters to see who has better control in a best 2-out-of-3 match.
First, select your fighter from the character selection screen using the [Control Pad] and press the [B Button].
Next is Strength/Stage Select. Press [Up Arrow] or [Down Arrow] on the [Control Pad] to select the Strength setting. Press [Left Arrow] or [Right Arrow] to change the setting. Press [Start Button] to proceed.
CPU vs CPU Mode
This mode is the same as the vs Player mode, but with only one player controlling the game. The computer controls all fighters.
Follow the directions for vs Player mode (page 11).
Tournament Mode
Up to four players can participate in a tournament. Players can either control a character (MAN) or have the NES control them (CPU).
When the selection screen appears, highlight MAN or CPU. If using human players, they can enter a four-letter/number name. Use the [Control Pad] to move to a letter/number on the keyboard screen and press the [A Button] to accept. Move to another letter/number and press [A Button] again. To backspace, press the [B Button]. To accept the name, move to the '$' key and press the [A Button].
After entering a name (or immediately if CPU is selected), pick a character for each position. A character will appear in the window to the right of the name. Press the [B Button] to select it.
Once all four tournament fighters are selected, the first match will begin.
