Reading Angle

To achieve the best scanning effect, maintain appropriate angles between the scanner and the barcode.

1. Maintain a bevel between the scanner and the bar code for optimal reading.
2. Do not keep the scanner at a 90° angle to the bar code, as this may prevent scanning.
3. The scanner must aim at the bar code, and the laser beam must cover the entire width of the bar code. Failure to do so may result in errors.

Diagrams illustrate correct and incorrect scanning angles:

• Correct way of reading: Bevel between scanner and barcode.
• Incorrect way of reading: Scanner at 90° to barcode.
• Correct way of reading: Scanner aimed at barcode, beam covers the whole code.
• Incorrect way of reading: Beam does not cover the whole barcode.

Automatic Function Settings

If this is an automatic barcode scanner, it has already been well set with the auto scanning function. When an object passes the sensitive area (the sensitive area depends on the size of the object, normally is 5-30cm), the scanner will scan automatically. After it reads a bar code successfully, the light will be off and a trigger cycle finished. The scanner will read again when there's an object passes the sensitive area.
