Read Before First Use

Make sure to read the following documents before using Ulyte. It is recommended to read the user manual and watch the tutorial videos on UBTECH official website (www.ubtrobot.com) or the Ulyte APP before using it for the first time. Please contact UBTECH or the authorized agents if you encountered any problems when using or maintaining your device.

I. Overview

1. About Ulyte

Ulyte is a 3-axis intelligent hand-held gimbal camera that combines mobility and stability in one device. It shoots stable video at up to 4K 60fps and 12 mega pixel photos. The camera's live view is displayed on the 1.3-inch onboard touchscreen. Intelligent settings include HDR Video, Panorama, Timelapse, and Slow Motion. The joystick and zoom slider on the camera body help you get the great shot. With dual microphones and various shooting modes, you can experience high-quality sound recording and photos. By connecting Ulyte to the Ulyte APP on your smartphone via the wireless module, you can manage it remotely and experience real-time previews of HD photographs and smart video editing before sharing to social media with a single click.

  • Front View: Camera, Roll Motor, Tilt Motor, Pan Motor, Touchscreen, Status LED, Gimbal Joystick, Power/Record Button, Microphone, Micro SD Card Slot.
  • Side View: Lanyard Hole, 1/4"-20 UNC Port, USB-C Port, Zoom Slider.

II. Preparation Before Use

Note:

  • Accessories (not provided) such as an external tripod and extension rod can be inserted into the 1/4-inch thread hole.
  • When capturing videos, avoid blocking the microphone for improved audio quality.

2. Activating Ulyte

When using the device for the first time, activation is required through the Ulyte APP on your smartphone.

  1. Press and hold the Power button to power on the device.
  2. Launch the Ulyte APP.
  3. To activate Ulyte, go to the home screen and choose 'Connect.' Then follow the on-screen instructions.

Note: Do not touch the gimbal when it is powering on. Otherwise, the performance may be affected.

(1) Charging

Choose the provided USB-C cable to connect Ulyte's USB-C jack for charging. A 5V/2A adapter is recommended (not provided).

The device has a USB-C port for charging. A visual indicator shows the charging status (e.g., a charging symbol [charging]).

(2) Install the Micro SD card

A UHS-I Speed Grade 3 rating microSD card (not provided) is required due to the fast read and write speed necessary for high-resolution video data. It can support a maximum of 256GB SDHC. Insert the microSD card into the microSD card slot.

III. Operation

(1) Power/Record Button

The Power/Record Button is a physical button on the gimbal body.

(2) Gimbal Joystick

The Gimbal Joystick is a control stick on the gimbal body used for directional control of the camera.

Push up Turn the lens up
Push down Turn the lens down
Turn to left Turn the lens to left
Turn to right Turn the lens to right
Turn to upper left Turn the lens to upper left
Turn to upper right Turn the lens to upper right
Turn to lower left Turn the lens to lower left
Turn to lower right Turn the lens to lower right

Note: The rotation direction of the lens mentioned above shall be under the condition that the lens is in the forward direction.

(3) Zoom Slider

The Zoom Slider is a control on the gimbal body used for adjusting focal length.

Turn up To increase focal length
Turn down To reduce focal length

Note: The maximum focal length is 3 times and the minimum focal length is 1 times.

(4) Touchscreen

The touchscreen displays the camera view and allows interaction via gestures. The camera view shows indicators like recording time (e.g., 29G), mode (Photo), aspect ratio (e.g., 4:3), and icons for settings and camera flip.

  • Re-center: Tap to re-center the gimbal.
  • Flip: Swipe to switch the camera between facing forward and backward.

Swipe Left

Swipe left on the touchscreen to enter the settings of the shooting mode. Swipe up or down to select a shooting mode.

Swipe Right

Swipe right on the touchscreen to enter the media library. Swipe up or down to scroll through photos and videos, and delete or save them.

Swipe Up

Swipe up on the touchscreen to enter the settings of shooting parameters. Set parameters such as countdown, continuous shooting, active track, exposure, white balance, resolution, and frame rate.

Swipe Down

Swipe down on the touchscreen to enter the menu, where you can swipe left or right and click the icon to enter the settings.

Gimbal Modes and Settings

The device offers various gimbal modes and settings accessible via the touchscreen or app:

1. Gimbal Mode

  • Follow: The tilt and pan axes of the gimbal follow the handle, and the roll axis rotates vertically after reaching the limit.
  • Tilt Locked: The tilt axis of the gimbal is locked, and the pan axis follows the handle. The roll axis rotates vertically after reaching the limit.
  • FPV: The pan, tilt, and roll axes follow.

2. Wi-Fi

Enable or disable Wi-Fi and check the Wi-Fi connecting QR code. [Wi-Fi icon]

3. Full-Screen Setting

Set full-screen or letterbox display.

4. SD Card

Display the used capacity and total capacity of the microSD card, and format the SD card.

5. Settings

Access more settings.

6. Key Tone

Tap to turn the key tone on and off. [Key Tone icon]

Sub-Settings Menu:

The settings menu includes options such as:

  • 6.1 Gimbal Sensitivity: Select the sensitivity of Follow. Fast Follow: the gimbal responds faster and moves abruptly. Slow Follow: the gimbal responds slower, but the movement is smoother.
  • 6.2 Speed of Joystick: Select the 3 speeds of joystick to control the movement.
  • 6.3 Calibration of Gimbal: Reduces drift caused by nearby magnetic interference or human error. (Ulyte should be placed on a flat and stable surface during calibration and cannot be held by hand).
  • 6.4 Anti-Flicker: Select an anti-flicker frequency according to local regulations.
  • 6.5 Automatic Shutdown: Set the automatic shutdown duration. If Ulyte is not used within a certain period of time, it will shut down automatically.
  • 6.6 Language: Set the display language of the Ulyte.
  • 6.7 More: View the firmware information of Ulyte and reset system parameters.

(5) Status LED

The Status LED indicates the device's current state.

IV. APP Installation

Before using the device, download and install the Ulyte APP. Download and install the Ulyte APP by scanning the QR Code on the right with your smart phone, or searching for "Ulyte" in the APP store. (QR Code to be inserted)

Note: The iOS version of Ulyte APP is compatible with iOS v11.0 and later. The Android version of Ulyte APP is compatible with Android v7.0 and later.

V. Updating Firmware

Ulyte Camera firmware must be updated using the Ulyte APP. When a new firmware is available, a prompt will show. Please follow the on-screen instructions to update the firmware.

VII. Maintenance

1. Storing Ulyte

With Ulyte powered off and in storage mode, place Ulyte into the flannelette bag and then place the device into the storage bag. To avoid unwanted damages to the lens, screen, and surface of the camera, make sure to avoid keys, clippers, and other sharp objects in the bag.

2. Precautions

  • When Ulyte is turned on, make sure nothing is obstructing the gimbal.
  • When using Ulyte, keep the lens and screen clean. It is recommended to use a lens wiping cloth.
  • Ulyte is not waterproof. Keep the device away from liquids and avoid submerging it in water or getting it wet. In the rain or in a damp environment, DO NOT USE THE DEVICE.
  • Use the device in temperatures ranging from 0°C to 40°C.
  • After charging or if the device is not charging, unplug the adapter from the device and remove it from the power socket.
  • Ulyte has a built-in battery that cannot be removed. DO NOT replace the battery by yourself as the battery or device may be damaged. The battery should only be replaced by the after-sales service center.
  • Do not store the battery for a long time after it is completely discharged, as it may cause damage to the cell in an over-discharged state, which will render it unusable.
  • Ulyte may be damaged if the device and accessories are subjected to heavy impact or vibration. DO NOT use any chemical solutions or cleaning agents.
  • Do not expose Ulyte to high temperatures, such as under sunlight, around heaters, microwave ovens, ovens, or water heaters, etc., as overheating may cause explosion.
  • If Ulyte is not used for more than 10 days, discharge the battery level to 40%-65% for storage, as it may extend the service life of the battery effectively.
  • Discharge and charge the battery completely once every three months to keep it in good condition.
  • Avoid touching or covering the heat dissipation area with your body because it may become hot during usage and cause burns.
  • Don't allow children or pets to swallow or bite the device or accessories as it may cause them harm.

X. Warranty Services

(1) Warranty Policy

1. If the product has a non-human performance failure that is in line with the Performance Failure Table of the Ulyte, within 30 natural days from the date of purchase, you can enjoy repair, replacement, and refund services for free after detection and confirmation by UBTECH after-sales service center.

2. If the device has a non-human performance failure that is in line with the Performance Failure Table of the Ulyte within 12 months from the date of purchase, you can enjoy repair services for free after detection and confirmation by UBTECH after-sales service center.

Notes: Please supply a complete set of items for return and exchange of Ulyte, including a complete set of packing boxes, the device, and all of its spare parts, gifts (if any), etc.

(4) Non-warranty Regulations

  1. Unauthorized maintenance, misuse, collision, abuse, infusion, accident, modification, incorrect use of other parts, or tear and change labels and security marks are all grounds for voiding the warranty.
  2. The expiry date of warranty services has been exceeded.
  3. Damage caused by force majeure.
  4. The failure does not correspond to the information in the Ulyte Performance Failure Table.
  5. Due to human reasons, the product and its accessories have performance faults listed in Ulyte Performance Failure Table.

XI. Certification Warning

Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.

This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates, uses, and can radiate radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications. However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:

SAR tests are conducted using standard operating positions accepted by the FCC with the device transmitting at its highest certified power level in all tested frequency bands, although the SAR is determined at the highest certified power level, the actual SAR level of the device while operating can be well below the maximum value.
