Congratulations on purchasing your new VTech product. Please read the Important Safety Instructions before use. This manual provides information on features, installation, operation, and troubleshooting for your VTech product.

Installation and Setup

Positioning the Baby Monitor

CAUTION: Keep the baby unit out of the baby's reach. Never place or mount the baby unit inside the baby’s crib or playpen.

1. Place the baby unit more than 1 meter (3 feet) away from your baby.

2. Place the parent unit more than 2 meters (6.5 feet) away from the baby unit.

CAUTION: If you hear high-pitched screeching noise, ensure units are more than 2 meters (6.5 feet) apart or turn down the parent unit volume.

Operating Range

The operating range is up to 300 meters (1,000 feet) outdoors or 50 meters (160 feet) indoors. Actual range may vary due to environmental conditions and obstructions.

Install the Battery

The parent unit runs on a rechargeable battery or AC power. For continuous monitoring, use both. The battery alone provides short-term cordless operation.

NOTES:

Install the battery by ensuring the "THIS SIDE UP" label is facing upwards.

Replace the Battery

Pull out the battery compartment cover, lift the battery, and follow installation steps.

Connect and Charge the Battery

NOTES:

Charge the Parent Unit Battery

The parent unit powers on automatically when connected and battery installed. The battery icon indicates status.

Test Your Baby Monitor

Test before initial use and regularly thereafter.

CAUTION: For hearing protection, keep parent unit > 2 meters (6.5 feet) from baby unit. Move further or press [volume down] if high-pitched noise occurs.

  1. Ensure both units are on.
  2. Speak into the baby unit microphone. Sound should be heard on the parent unit, and visual sound indicators should light up.

NOTE: If parent unit displays "NOT LINKED" and flashes, move parent unit closer to baby unit (maintain > 2m/6.5ft distance) and check power connections.

TIP: Increase parent unit speaker volume if sounds are not audible.

Using the Baby Monitor

Powering Units On/Off

Baby Unit: Press [On/Off Button] to power on (power light on). Press and hold to power off (power light off).

Parent Unit: Press and hold [On/Off Button] to power on/off. The screen turns on/off.

NOTE: Units power on automatically when connected to AC power or battery installed.

Adjusting Speaker Volume

Baby Unit: Press [Volume Up] or [Volume Down] buttons.

Parent Unit: Press [Volume Up] or [Volume Down] buttons (Volume 1-5, or off). Default is Volume 3.

Adjusting VOX Sensitivity

Adjust the baby unit's microphone sensitivity to control when the parent unit speaker activates. Higher sensitivity detects quieter sounds.

To adjust: Press MENU on parent unit, select VOX LEVEL, choose level using [Up/Down] buttons, press SELECT to confirm.

NOTE: Baby unit must be on to access VOX Level menu.

Sound Alert

The parent unit beeps when the baby unit detects sounds triggering the red light on the visual sound indicator. Preset is OFF.

To enable: Press MENU, select SOUND ALERT, choose ON/OFF, press SELECT.

Vibration Alert

The parent unit vibrates when the baby unit detects sounds triggering the red light on the visual sound indicator. Preset is OFF.

To enable: Press MENU, select VIBE ALERT, choose ON/OFF, press SELECT.

Night Light

Turn the night light on/off using the button on the baby unit or via the parent unit menu (MENU > NIGHTLIGHT > ON/OFF > SELECT).

NOTES: Night light operates independently. Icon on parent unit disappears if link is lost.

Language Selection

Select display language (English, French, or Spanish) via parent unit menu (MENU > LANGUAGE > choose language > SELECT). Preset is English.

Set Default

Restore default settings via parent unit menu (MENU > SET DEFAULT > YES/NO > SELECT). Resets shared settings like VOX sensitivity.

Talk to the Baby Unit

Press and hold the TALK button on the parent unit. Speak into the microphone. Your voice is broadcast to the baby unit.

NOTES: When one parent unit talks, it's broadcast to the other. Baby unit sounds are not transmitted during talk.

Find/Page the Parent Unit

Press PAGE on the baby unit. Idle parent units will ring and display "PAGING". Press any key on the parent unit or PAGE on the baby unit to stop.

NOTES: Paging works even if parent unit volume is off. Baby unit cannot page turned-off, out-of-range, or active parent units.

Storage

When not in use for an extended period, remove the rechargeable battery from the parent unit. Store units and adapters in a cool, dry place.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does the baby monitor not respond normally?

Try these steps: 1. Disconnect power to both units. 2. Remove and reinstall parent unit batteries. 3. Wait a few minutes before reconnecting power. 4. Turn on both units. 5. Wait up to one minute for synchronization.

Why doesn't the parent unit screen turn on?

The rechargeable battery may be empty, or the parent unit is not connected to power. Connect the parent unit to AC power.

Why doesn't the baby unit power light turn on?

Ensure the baby unit is connected to power.

Why does the baby monitor produce a high-pitched noise?

The units may be too close. Ensure they are more than 2 meters (6.5 feet) apart.

Why does the parent unit react too quickly to other sounds?

Adjust the VOX sensitivity level to a lower setting or adjust the parent unit speaker volume.

Why can't I hear a sound or my baby cry?

Parent unit volume may be too low (press [Volume Up]). Or, VOX sensitivity may be set too low (adjust via menu).

Why does the parent unit beep?

Sound alert feature may be on and detecting sound from the baby unit. The baby unit may be out of range (move parent unit closer, but not less than 6.5 feet). The parent unit battery may be low (charge for up to 11 hours).

Why can't I establish a connection? Why is the connection lost or interrupted?

The baby unit may be out of range (move parent unit closer, but not less than 6.5 feet). Other electronic devices (wireless routers, cell phones, etc.) may cause interference; try positioning the monitor further away from them.

Important Safety Instructions

When using your equipment, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury, including:

  1. Follow all warnings and instructions marked on the product.
  2. Adult setup is required.
  3. This product is intended as an aid, not a substitute for responsible adult supervision.
  4. This product is not intended for use as a medical monitor.
  5. Do not use near water (bath tub, sink, pool, wet basement, shower).
  6. CAUTION: Use only specified batteries (BT166342/BT266342 for parent unit). Do not dispose of batteries in fire; they may explode. Dispose of used batteries according to RBRC® information.
  7. Use only included adapters. Incorrect polarity or voltage can damage the product. Baby/Parent unit adapter output: 6V DC 400mA.
  8. Power adapters are designed for vertical/floor mount; prongs not for ceiling/under-table outlets.
  9. For pluggable equipment, the socket-outlet must be installed near the equipment and easily accessible.
  10. Unplug from wall outlet before cleaning. Use a damp cloth; do not use liquid/aerosol cleaners.
  11. Unplug power cords before replacing batteries.
  12. Do not cut power adapters to replace plugs; this is hazardous.
  13. Do not place anything on power cords. Do not install where cords can be walked on or crimped.
  14. Operate only from the indicated power source type. Consult dealer/power company if unsure.
  15. Do not overload wall outlets or use extension cords.
  16. Do not place on unstable surfaces (table, shelf, stand).
  17. Ensure proper ventilation. Do not block openings (back/bottom) by placing on soft surfaces (bed, sofa, rug). Do not place near radiators or heat registers. Ensure good air circulation.
  18. Never push objects into product slots; they may touch dangerous voltage points or cause short circuits. Never spill liquid on the product.
  19. To reduce electric shock risk, do not disassemble. Take to authorized service facility. Opening parts may expose to dangerous voltages. Incorrect reassembly can cause electric shock.
  20. Test sound reception every time units are turned on or moved.
  21. Periodically examine components for damage.
  22. Be aware of potential privacy loss on public airwaves; conversations may be picked up by other devices.
  23. Supervise children to ensure they do not play with the product.
  24. Product not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience/knowledge, unless supervised by a responsible person.

Cautions

  1. Use and store product between 0°C (32°F) and 40°C (104°F).
  2. Do not expose to extreme cold, heat, or direct sunlight. Do not place near heating sources.
  3. Batteries should not be exposed to excessive heat (sunlight, fire).
  4. Ensure baby unit and adapter cord are always out of baby's reach (at least 3 feet / 1 meter from baby or crib) to avoid strangulation hazard.
  5. Never place the baby unit inside the baby’s crib or playpen. Never cover the baby unit or parent unit with towels or blankets.
  6. Other electronic products may cause interference. Install monitor as far as possible from wireless routers, radios, cell phones, intercoms, TVs, computers, appliances, and cordless phones.

Precautions for Users of Implanted Cardiac Pacemakers

For digital cordless devices: Keep wireless devices at least six inches (approx. 15 cm) from the pacemaker. Do NOT place wireless devices directly over the pacemaker (e.g., in a shirt pocket) when turned ON. WTR study found no risk to bystanders with pacemakers from other users.

Electromagnetic Fields (EMF)

This VTech product complies with EMF standards. Safe use is assured when handled properly according to instructions.

RBRC® Seal

The RBRC® seal indicates VTech's participation in a battery collection and recycling program for nickel-metal batteries in the US and Canada. Contact 1 (800) 8 BATTERY® for recycling information.

FCC and IC Regulations

This equipment complies with FCC Part 15 and Industry Canada license-exempt RSS standards. It may cause or receive interference. Follow guidelines to minimize interference.

RF Radiation Exposure: The baby unit complies with FCC RF exposure limits for uncontrolled environments, requiring a minimum distance of 8 inches (20 cm) from bodies. The parent unit transmitter/antenna should be held at least 1 inch (2.5 cm) from the face. Body-worn operation of the parent unit meets FCC RF exposure guidelines.

California Energy Commission (CEC) Compliance

This baby monitor meets CEC regulations for energy consumption and is set to conserve energy out of the box. CEC battery charging testing mode is activated during charging.

Limited Warranty

Coverage: VTech warrants the product and accessories to be free from defects in material and workmanship for ONE (1) YEAR from the date of purchase for consumers in the USA and Canada.

VTech's Obligation: VTech will repair or replace, at its option, any materially defective product with new or refurbished parts/products.

Exclusions: Warranty does not cover misuse, accident, damage from repair/alteration by unauthorized personnel, signal/network issues, non-VTech accessories, removed serial numbers, commercial use, or products without valid proof of purchase.

Proof of Purchase: Return the entire package, a description of the malfunction, valid sales receipt (product model, date), your name, address, and phone number.

Limitations: This warranty is exclusive. Implied warranties are limited to one year. VTech is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
