Medela Colostrum Container
Instructions for Use
Intended Purpose
The Colostrum Container is intended to be used as a single-use supplemental accessory for the collection and storage of small amounts of colostrum and first milk during the first week of lactation or until a mother reaches a larger volume of mature breastmilk.

Hygiene
To reduce the risk of potential cross-contamination or exposure to biological hazards:
- The container is delivered in a sterile packaging. Visually inspect the sterile packaging for damage before opening. Containers with a damaged packaging system must not be used.
- Wash hands thoroughly before opening the sterile packaging and using the container. Once you have opened the sterile packaging, avoid touching the inside of the container and the lid.
- The container is single-use only. Do not reprocess this container. Use a new container for each pumping session. Re-use could cause cross-contamination.
Safe Use
To reduce risk of potential injury due to incorrect use:
- Inspect the container before use. Throw away at the first signs of damage.
- Never leave containers, lids and packaging unattended. Keep them out of reach of children.
- The container is single-use only. Re-use can cause contamination.
- Use with compatible Medela Symphony pump sets only.
Important Safeguards
- Bottles and lids made of plastic become brittle when frozen and may break when dropped.
- Also, bottles and lids may become damaged if mishandled, e.g. dropped, over-tightened, or knocked over.
- Take appropriate care in handling bottles and lids.
- Don't use the liquid if bottles or lids become damaged.
How to Use
Follow the important safety information (for Hygiene and Safe Use) as above.
Open the packaging and take out the container(s).
Collection
To use the container to collect breastmilk, screw the container onto the connector of the Medela Symphony pump set. For more information on how to use the pump set and the corresponding breast pump, see their instructions for use.
After pumping, label the container with your name, date and time of the pumping session and the amount of expressed milk.
Storage
To use the container to store breastmilk in the refrigerator or freezer, check the storage guidelines on the Medela website (www.medela.com) or follow the hospital guidelines.
Thawing and Warming
To warm or thaw milk that has been stored in the refrigerator or freezer, check the thawing and warming guidelines on the Medela website (www.medela.com) or follow the hospital guidelines.
Disposal
Dispose of the container and the lid after use according to local regulations.
