Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine® Not Spraying Troubleshooting

General Spray Issues

  1. First, ensure both the clean and dirty water tanks are correctly in place. Remove both tanks and reinsert them, making sure each tank sits snugly. Images show the correct and incorrect placement of the water tanks. The correct placement shows the tanks fully seated, while the incorrect placement indicates misalignment.
  2. Check the trigger for proper tension. Also, verify that the bottom tank is filled with water and the recommended cleaning solution (e.g., 2 capfuls of BISSELL® 2X Professional solution and hot water). If the trigger lacks tension, contact a BISSELL® Authorized Service center. Diagrams illustrate checking the trigger for tension and confirming the bottom tank is full.
  3. Inspect the debris filter located below the bottom tank for any clogs. Ensure it is clear of debris. Close-up views show the debris filter assembly below the bottom tank. An arrow points to the filter itself, emphasizing the need to check for blockages.
  4. Examine the base of the cleaner for a lodged or missing gasket. If found lodged, reattach it by pushing the rounded portion of the gasket over the lip of the cap and inserting it. If the gasket is missing, a new one should be ordered. Images detail the gasket and its attachment. One image shows the 'rounded portion' of the gasket going on first, ensuring a proper seal on the cap.
  5. Check the x-shaped valve in the cap of the clean tank. If no water is dispensed, the cap may need to be replaced. A view of the x-shaped valve within the clean tank cap is provided.
  6. Inspect the spray tip for any debris. To access the spray tip, remove both tanks, set them aside (note that they may drip), lay the machine on its side, and pull out the brush roll using the tab located between the wheels and the brush. The spray tip is situated underneath. Images demonstrate how to access the spray tip. This involves removing tanks, laying the machine on its side, and pulling out the brush roll.   7. The Big Green® machine may have lost its prime. To re-prime, turn the machine off, wait one minute, then turn it back on and check the spray.
  8. If spraying issues persist, it is recommended to take the deep cleaner to a qualified technician. Your nearest BISSELL® Authorized Service Center can provide assistance.

Troubleshooting: Spray Not Reaching the Hose

  1. To begin, attach the upholstery hose. This connection can sometimes be difficult. Insert the hose, aligning the solution hose at approximately the 1 o'clock position, and then turn it to about the 2 o'clock position. Diagrams illustrate the correct method for attaching the upholstery hose. The solution hose should be inserted at the 1 o'clock position and turned to the 2 o'clock position for a secure fit.
  2. The hose will not suction if it is inserted incorrectly. Refer to the accompanying images to ensure the hose is properly seated. Images clearly show the correct and incorrect seating of the upholstery hose connection, highlighting how proper alignment ensures suction.
  3. The Big Green® machine may have lost its prime. To re-prime, turn the machine off, wait one minute, then turn it back on and check the spray.
  4. Try soaking the end of the small solution hose (which is attached to the larger hose) in hot tap water, or run it under hot tap water. Reattach the hose and attempt to spray again.
  5. If the spraying issue is not resolved, please take your deep cleaner to a technician. You can locate your nearest BISSELL® Authorized Service Center for professional help.
