beyerdynamic TG D35 Dynamic Drum Microphone: Product Overview and Specifications

beyerdynamic TG D35 Dynamic Drum Microphone

Product Information and Specifications

Introduction

Thank you for selecting the beyerdynamic TG D35 dynamic microphone. Please take a few minutes to read this product information carefully before using the product.

Safety Information

  • Protect the microphone from moisture and sudden impacts to prevent damage.
  • Do not blow into the microphone or knock on the microphone basket. For functional checks, speak into the microphone.

Application

  • Microphoning drums, such as snare or tom-toms.
  • Capturing percussion instruments like congas or bongos.

Connection

The TG D35 is equipped with a 3-pin XLR connector and a 3/8" thread for mounting on stands or the included MKV 87 microphone clamp. You can connect the microphone to any balanced microphone input. Available cables can be found under "Optional Accessories". The use of phantom power will not damage the microphone.

Setting Up

  • The microphone clamp attaches to the drum hoop or similar hardware, allowing the microphone to be positioned at the optimum angle to the sound source.
  • The supercardioid polar pattern minimizes crosstalk from neighboring sources and enhances feedback suppression.

Maintenance

If necessary, clean the TG D35 and its connecting cable with a soft, damp cloth. A mild cleaning agent (e.g., dish soap) may be used, but never use solvent-based cleaners. Ensure no liquid enters the microphone grille.

Service

For service, please contact authorized service personnel. Do not attempt to open the microphone yourself, as this will invalidate your warranty rights.

Disposal

At the end of its service life, this product must not be disposed of with normal household waste. It must be handed in at a collection point for the recycling of electrical and electronic equipment. The symbol on the product, in the user manual, or on the packaging indicates this.

Diagram Descriptions

Frequency Response Curve

The frequency response graph shows the microphone's sensitivity across different frequencies. It indicates a relatively flat response from approximately 50 Hz to 10 kHz, with a noticeable boost in the higher frequencies (around 4 kHz to 8 kHz) and a roll-off below 50 Hz. The reference level is 0 dB, corresponding to 2.2 mV/Pa, with a tolerance of ±3 dB.

Polar Pattern Diagram

The polar pattern diagram illustrates the microphone's directional sensitivity. It confirms a supercardioid pickup pattern, characterized by maximum sensitivity directly in front of the microphone (0°). It exhibits significant rejection of sound from the sides (90° and 270°) and a null point directly behind (180°), which helps to minimize unwanted ambient noise and feedback.
