Gigabit Ethernet Media Converter

Overview

D-Link DMC-F-Series Media Converters are utilized to expand existing Gigabit Ethernet networks. These converters facilitate the installation of fiber optic cabling within a Gigabit Ethernet network topology by enabling direct connection to existing devices. Their compact design is advantageous for deployment in space-constrained locations. The DMC-F-Series Media Converters are available in two configurations: one featuring an integrated SFP slot for inserting an SFP transceiver, and another with an integrated optical transceiver equipped with SC connectors.

LED Indicators

The front panel of the media converter features several LED indicators:

• 1000M: Illuminates when the RJ-45 copper port speed is 1000Mbps.
• FIBER: Illuminates when the fiber port link is active. It flashes to indicate data transmission.
• FDX: Illuminates to signify a full duplex connection.
• 100M: Illuminates when the RJ-45 copper port speed is 100Mbps.
• TP: Illuminates when the RJ-45 port link is active. It flashes to indicate data transmission.
• PWR: Illuminates when the device is receiving DC power.

Installation

This media converter is a plug-and-play device, requiring no additional software or management. To connect to the network, attach the appropriate RJ-45 and fiber optic cables. If your Media Converter is equipped with an SFP interface, insert an SFP transceiver (sold separately) and then connect the fiber optic cables to the transceiver. For fiber optic connections, ensure that the "TX" (transmit) port on one end is connected to the "RX" (receive) port on the other end, and vice versa.

Connect the included Power Adapter to the rear of the Media Converter.

Limited Lifetime Warranty

D-Link DMC-F-Series Media Converters are provided with a Limited Lifetime Warranty, which excludes the external power adapter. The product itself is covered for a period of five (5) years following its discontinuation. The external power adapter is covered by a one (1) year warranty. D-Link extends this Limited Warranty exclusively to the original purchaser who acquired the product directly from D-Link or through an authorized reseller or distributor. D-Link will honor warranty obligations in accordance with the local warranty policy applicable in the country of purchase. The warranty period commences on the date of purchase from D-Link or its authorized reseller or distributor. A proof of purchase, such as a sales or delivery receipt detailing the purchase date, may be required to receive warranty service. Warranty service is available if the product requires it within the specified warranty period and under the terms and conditions outlined in this document.
