Installation Instruction
Installation and Setting
This section details the installation and setting methods for the controller. An environment must be established for the controller and devices (Air conditioner, ventilation, etc.) to communicate. Devices must be registered through the controller. Follow this order:
- Installation environment inspection and equipment address setting: Before installation, check network configuration with the device interlocked to the controller's power supply. Assign non-overlapping addresses to connected devices.
- Product installation: Install the controller and connect power and communication lines.
- Search indoor unit device: Search for and save the desired indoor unit device.
- Install ThinQ app and register an account: Refer to the 'Connecting LG ThinQ and LG Electronics' manual.
- Connect and use ThinQ app: Interlock with the ThinQ app to control/monitor the searched indoor unit.
Installation Environment Inspection and Equipment Address Setting
Description of Diagram: The diagram shows an 'Outdoor unit' connected to a 'Cloud Gateway'. The Cloud Gateway is then shown connected to 'Indoor unit 1', 'Indoor unit 2', and 'Indoor unit 3'. Each indoor unit has a 'Setting address' indicated: '00' for unit 1, '01' for unit 2, and '0F' for unit 3.
NOTE:
- The maximum communication length is 1000 m between the controller and the farthest device.
- Use communication cables of at least 0.75 mm².
- Set addresses that do not overlap within the same device type.
- Connecting multiple wireless LAN devices to the controller's router may cause wireless LAN malfunction (e.g., delayed speed, disconnection). Consider using a separate router in such cases.
Connection of RS485 Communication Line
One controller can connect up to 16 indoor units. Multiple devices must be connected in a BUS format; otherwise, the controller may malfunction.
Diagram Description:
- Correct example: RS485 BUS format connection: Shows a linear connection where units are daisy-chained.
- Incorrect example: RS485 STAR format connection: Shows units connecting individually to a central point, which is incorrect for RS485 BUS.
Indoor unit central control address setting
Grant non-overlapping addresses to each equipment (indoor unit, ventilation equipment) considering the entire installation. Addresses must be within the range of 00~0F.
Note: Granting outdoor unit and indoor unit number: If the outdoor unit is Multi V, set the first digit of the address as the outdoor unit number and the second digit as the indoor unit number for easy identification.
Diagram Description: Shows 'Outdoor unit(group) number' and 'Indoor unit number' for address setting.
Installation of the Product and Connection of RS485 Communication Line
Installing the Product
Method for installing and cabling the controller:
- Decide where to install the controller: Before fixing to the wall, ensure it's a suitable location for connecting RS485, power, and Ethernet cables.
- NOTE: Turn off the power of connected products before installation. Controller failure may occur if installed while powered on.
- Fix the wall installation plate: Mount the wall installation plate on the wall.
- Connect RS485 cable: Connect the RS485 cable to the RS485 terminal on the back of the controller.
Diagram Description: Shows the back of the controller with LAN, RS485, POWER, GND, 12V terminals. It also shows a guide for sheath removal and application appearance of O-Ring and sleeve for wiring.
Diagram Description (Sheath removal guide): Illustrates measurements for stripping the cable sheath (e.g., 45±5 mm, 10±3 mm, 20 mm). It shows how to use a sleeve and O-ring for connection.
❗ CAUTION
- RS485 communication cable connection is polarity-sensitive; ensure correct connections.
- Be careful when bending RS485 communication cables.
- Supply and communication cables must be polychloroprene sheathed (code designation 60245 IEC 57).
Connecting Cables and Power
- Connect Ethernet cable: Plug the Ethernet cable into the LAN port on the back of the controller.
- Connect 12V power: Connect the 12V power supply from the outdoor unit to the power terminal on the back of the controller.
- Diagram Description: Shows the back of the controller with LAN, RS485, POWER, GND, 12V terminals. It also shows the 'Outdoor unit connector' with terminals for Outdoor unit B, Outdoor unit A, Indoor unit B, Indoor unit A, Central control B, Central control A, Dry 1, Dry 2, GND, 12V.
- Match product to wall plate: Align the grooves of the product with the hooks on the installed wall plate.
- Secure the product: Lower the product to lock it onto the hooks. Fix the installation plate and product using the controller fixing screws.
- Turn on the power: Power on the device.
Search for the Indoor Unit Device
Search for the Indoor Unit
Search for installed indoor unit devices and display the number of units found via LED.
Diagram Description: Shows the Cloud Gateway unit with a 'Red LED' indicator and a '< Reset Switch >'.
- When the controller powers on, it automatically initiates an indoor unit search.
- After 30 seconds, the search completes. The LED dims to indicate the number of indoor units found (e.g., 3 units = LED dims 3 times).
NOTE: Proceed to 'product registration' after completing the indoor unit search. Failure to complete the search before proceeding may cause malfunction. If the LED dimming doesn't match the number of connections, check the indoor unit installation status. The reset switch can restart the search.
