Measuring Forehead Temperatures
Quick, Easy, and Reliable!
- Power on device
- Point at center of forehead less than 3 inches away
- Press the SCAN button for 1 second—two short beeps tells you it's done
The WAND Clinical is pre-set to forehead mode and displays temperature in Fahrenheit. Three short beeps followed by one long beep while taking a forehead reading indicates the temperature exceeded 99.5°F (37.5°C). Check Zone Indicator for more information. Please wait 2 seconds between measurements.
Functions
- Power Off Device: Device will auto-off after 60 seconds to save battery life. Alternatively, press and hold ON/MEM for about 10 seconds. 'Off' will flash before powering off.
- View Readings: With the device turned on, press ON/MEM momentarily to see the last reading (reading number 1). Each subsequent press of ON/MEM will show up to 25 readings in order. The reading number will flash before displaying the value.
- Mute: With the device turned on, press and hold ON/MEM for 3 seconds until the speaker icon flashes, then release. Repeat steps to unmute.
- Change to Surface Mode: With the device turned on, press and hold ON/MEM, then press the SCAN button to toggle between modes. The device will automatically return to forehead mode after being powered off and back on again.
- Change from °F to °C: With the instrument turned off, press and hold the SCAN button, then press ON/MEM for 3 seconds. The "°F" icon will switch to the "°C" icon. The same process can be used to change the LCD display from °C to °F. Complete the process again to switch back to °F. Please note: stored readings will be deleted when switching between units.
Cautions
- Forehead should be clean, dry, and unobstructed before taking readings.
- WAND Clinical is not waterproof. Avoid wet areas and splashes.
- Do not expose the device to temperatures above 100°F (38°C) or below 50°F (10°C).
- Replace batteries when the battery icon flashes.
- Store the device at room temperature where readings will be taken for best results.
- Avoid drops, bumps, and rough handling that could damage the device.
- The sensor lens area is the most delicate part; keep it clean and free from debris.
- Consult the user manual before cleaning the lens.
